49. Laser Salmon

They took me to a random building so I parked outside. I assumed they met some higher up golems after they went in.

For some reason, we were immediately assigned a mission according to 'Mr Gunhand', so I had to board the blimp again. Didn't even get to say if I agreed to join or not since I couldn't fit inside the doorway. And wasn't it a bit late for that?

3 PM technically wasn't that late, but considering flight times, it might be pretty late by the time we got back.

At least I can just read during the flight...

----------------------------------------

"Landing, we have reached the destination!" a speaker announced in Gunhand's voice.

Huh, that only took an hour.

I followed 'Gunhand' and a golem with nothing but a red gem on its face out. It was the same with that golem that kidnapped me. Did they have some sort of function or was it just decoration?

"Oh yeah, what's the mission anyway?" Radio asked.

I guess I should have thought of asking that before the flight.

"We're going to catch salmon. Apparently, it's spawning season and they need more people to catch them."

...

So let me guess, I'm just here for carrying the goods? Figures.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised considering what I was. Still sad though. Back on Earth, I think I also carried them often... Weird, I couldn't remember what I was carrying them for, other than my other friends who didn't make it here with me. No point in thinking too much about that now though.

"By the way, do you mind if we got into you? I think it'll be faster that way than if you just followed me."

"Sure," I told Radio to say.

They got in and told me the directions from then on. I heard the sound of sizzling and crackling in the distance for some reason.

Then, a blue stream of light suddenly shot past me, burning a random tree's bark.

What the heck?

"Let's go!" Gunhand shouted.

Both he and the golem got out and started running ahead.

"Wait, where are you going?" said Radio.

They didn't answer so I just followed.

Another golem in armour was fighting... several salmon.

They had shimmering blue scales and weird bumps on their head. Several blue lasers fired from the bumps and struck the armour, leaving black marks on it. So that's where the sizzling sounds came from.

"Get lost! These are mine!" the armoured golem shouted after seeing up.

"We'll only take half from you." Gunhand grinned deviously.

"Bastards!"

In the end, they beat up the armoured golem, took out two crates out of nowhere and stuffed the fish in it. Was this some kind of mission where the more fish you get the more the rewards?

Those golems should really implement rules preventing this. At least they still gave one crate to it as promised, though I suspect it had a few less fish than the crate they kept.

"Hey, open your cargo!"

I opened it. Sheepy was casually eating some grass I tossed out to it earlier.

"What? Why do you have a sheep there?" Gunhand asked.

"It's my... pet sheep?"

"Hey! I'm nobody's pet!" Sheepy yelled.

The two golems didn't understand it.

"Whatever," Gunhand said, tossing the crate into me.

Hmm, I wonder how much EXP they were worth? I think those in the crates might be still alive.

As I followed them, I tried to use telekinesis to hit one of the fish in the head over and over but to no avail. Eventually, it got angry and fired a laser, hitting another salmon.

Soon, all the salmon got into an all out battle. Opps? All of them but one died. Well... that was awkward. The golems probably weren't going to be too pleased about that, but at least they won't be able to tell it's my fault.

The last salmon was over in burns, many of its scales burnt off. Wait, I think I could finish it off at this point!

I grabbed the poor thing and bashed it a few times. It was probably not intelligent like the other animals I saw here anyway since they literally went nuts and killed each other over an accident.

[Trying to justify your actions?]

Why don't you justify constantly bothering me?

[+230 EXP]

Well, that wasn't worth it at all.

Other animals were trying to fish too, but they ran off after seeing the golems.

Before long, I had around ten crates loaded in. Sheepy was very displeased by the lack of space. For a moment, I wondered if I should put some of the crates in my cabin, but I decided that I didn't want to ruin my seats and carpet if the water spilt from them.

"You! What are you doing here?"

Eh? Oh, it was the bear from the snowy area. I should be the one asking what it was doing here!

"We're here to fish. Get lost if you want to keep your life!" Gunhand shouted.

He awkwardly tried to remove his arm for a few seconds. Finally, it came off with a lot of clicking. He pointed the gun at the bear.

"And what's that puny peashooter going to do?" the bear sneered.

"BANG!"

Wasn't that a bit too far?

"Crap, it went off by itself! I was only planning to do a warning shot!"

Oh okay.

"Ow!" the bear roared. "Bastards!"

It charged over and smacked the two golems, sending them tumbling away.

"I don't have any correlation to them! Don't hit me!" Radio shouted.

Maybe a bit cowardly but I wasn't going to complain in this situation. And now that I looked closer, the bullet didn't even leave a wound on the bear.

"Yeah, very likely." it snorted. "I'll let you and your friends off easy this time for your favour."

"A favour?"

"When you woke me up, I realised it was this time of the year so I quickly ran here."

From a bracelet around one of its front legs, a black grill suddenly popped out. It waved its paws and suddenly, flames rose from inside it.

"Now get lost before I change my mind!" it said, throwing a salmon onto the grill.

I dragged the two unconscious golems into my cabin and drove off back toward the blimp. Never thought I'd see a bear grilling fish...
