"Okay, okay, it was just a joke! You don't have to be so angry, sheesh!" Sheepy grumbled.
It wasn't funny at all.
After the incident, I reprimanded the useless sheep. I was a bit surprised it apologised (somewhat?) to be honest. I also decided to tell Galu the truth. Well, with some tweaks. It would be horrible if he thought I really was Sheepy!
"You're a runaway machine? No wonder you're hiding, miss! Don't worry, the dwarves won't find you here!" Galu said earnestly.
Why the heck was he still calling me "miss" if he knew I was a machine now? Well, at least he was easy to convince. Galu quickly used some sort of water spell to wash Sheepy's mess off the bush.
Soon, his parents arrived. They gave him a hug, followed by a stern warning. Galu apologised for running off alone thought he didn't look like he was actually sorry.
"Oh, and thank you for driving our son back home!" said Alena, his mother. "Is there anything we can do for you?"
Hmm... I thought for a bit. Honestly, there were just two main things I was interested in. Mana crystals and experience from fighting stuff! I mean, technically, mana crystals would work for EXP too, but considering how Tablet couldn't level up from combat, it really was just best to invest crystals into unlocking new features...
(Radio wondered if Truck really should be thinking about rewards in such a situation.)
If their son was so strong, with them, power levelling shouldn't be too hard, should it? I decided to tell Tablet not to ask about crystals because I wasn't sure if they were expensive.
"Do you might bringing us- me out to fight some monsters?" Radio said.
"Ah, a thrillseeker! I used to enjoy running into the wild to forage and hunt when I was younger too." Yueler said. "Do you need directions to the dens of beasts?"
"Yeah, that'd be good!"
"Normally, I'd ask Galu to guide you, but... I really don't trust him not to try to run off and fight again. So I think it should be me or Alena bringing you there." said Yueler. "Uh, dear?"
"Yes?"
"Mind guiding her to there? I might be a bit busy," he said tentatively.
"Uh, the house is getting dirty, I need to clean it up." Alena looked away.
Yuel looked exasperated.
"Fine, whatever! Come with me, miss... what's your name?"
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
Crap, I needed to think of something!
"Truck?"
"Truck? That's an unusual name..."
Wait, why did you tell him that as a name?
"Sorry, I spoke too loud." Radio whispered.
Oh well, at least it's easier. Maybe I should get people to refer to me as that in the future too...
Grudgingly, Yuel led me down out of town. The guards nodded to him respectfully as he passed.
"The weather is nice, isn't it?"
"Uh, maybe?"
"Anyway, my wife is so annoying sometimes! Like, normally she hates cleaning the house and says we should hire a maid..." the floodgates opened. "...but she's also very sweet. Once, she bought me this amazing sword as a birthday present..."
My goodness, he has the same habit of blabbering like Galu. And what the hell does weather have to do with his wife?
"...and then you know one day, I came back home the next day and Galu had some dumb book with him! Apparently, the main character uses some kind of stupid, impractical sword and..."
Uh huh. Did I look like I cared?
"...and now Galu refuses to use anything but a replica of the main character's sword! I really shouldn't have bought that useless sword for him as a present! And..."
I'm not here to listen to your life story!
"...seriously! What type of son is he! People expect the son of an expert swordsman to be good at using swords but he just uses that dumb thing! It's not even a sword, just a huge spiky paddle! He's disgracing my family! I can't believe it! And another time..."
I take that back. He is several times more chatty than Galu.
"...and that's why deer meat is better than rabbit! Oh, and we're here."
Finally, we arrived. I could see animal tracks in the snow and several figures staring at us from a distance. This was it!
"I recommend getting out if you want them to attack you! I really don't think they'd be interested in hunting a machine. If nothing else, I'll be heading back! Good luck!"
What, he was leaving? After all that blabber I sat through?
"Wait, you're not going to join and help us fight?"
"Hmm? I only agreed to lead you here!"
"Wait-"
Before Radio could say anything else, he just ran away. Was this how he should treat someone who helped his son?
Great... there goes my plan to get free EXP...
As I drove around, I realised what he said was indeed true. Sure enough, none of the apes, wolves or bears I saw seemed interested in attacking me. Darn. Maybe if I blocked one of the caves? I drove in front of a cave and blocked it.
Soon, a bear came out.
"Can you not? The ventilation is as bad as it is!" it growled.
"Oh... sorry."
Why the heck are you appologising, Radio?
"What else do I do?"
I drove off, slightly annoyed.
Maybe if I had bait... wait, didn't I have the dead deer from back then? It was still sitting in my inventory since I didn't find a way to cook it.
I decided to put the corpse down on the floor and waited. Seeing the bear reminded me that some of the animals in this world were intelligent; so I asked Sheepy to shout if they understood Rolgh, the beast language whenever any of them came close.
"Why does it matter if they understand it or not?"
Shut up or I will take your hay away!
"Come on! Are you still angry about that thing earlier?"
A fox came by... it understood Sheepy and left (after some threats)... After another long wait, a raccoon came by and also understood.
My goodness, why were all the animals in this world smart? Were there even any dumb ones?
[You say that while you look for lives to end. Are you sure you aren't just trying to stand on the moral high ground?]
Shut up!
Honestly, I really didn't care anymore. Maybe I'll just run over the next animal I see.
[That's more like it.]
On second thought, I really shouldn't do that.
[Petty.]
