It was one of those weird stat tables from games. Very funny. And listing my stats at such a low amount... if a truck had such stats, would a human's stats be in decimals?
[Don't ask me. I didn't set the values. And if you want proof that it's not a joke, try using some of the skills.]
Maybe for some godforsaken reason, the girl had given me video game powers? Tablet might be spiteful, but I didn't think it had a reason to lie to me like that.
Previously, I glanced through and didn't look at the skills propert, but now that I looked through them, I found them somewhat odd. I did sort of have telekinetic abilities even back on earth; that was how I managed to gather my friends without hands. But I thought telekinesis included mind reading and sending mental messages?
"Well, maybe that's why we can hear your thoughts?" suggested Radio.
Yeah, you do have a point there. But maybe that's more to do with the Machine Communication skill?
"Maybe,"
Tablet displayed an image of a person shrugging on its screen. I was slightly annoyed. Shouldn't it know how this stuff worked considering it had "system powers"?
[I don't need to answer your questions.]
Okay, not very polite. How about the shapeshifting and eating skills? They don't seem like very truck-like powers to me.
[You can adjust the size and shape of your wheels to account for terrain. For eating, you can form a mouth from your front area to eat food to sustain yourself as an alternative to fuel, much like animals.]
It seemed like the eating skill depended on the shapeshifting skills too. I was somewhat excited. I had always been curious about why humans seem to enjoy eating so much. Was it really that pleasurable?
"Who knows?" Radio chimed in.
I wasn't trying to ask you guys, I was just thinking to myself!
Not having the slightest bit of mental privacy was getting to my nerves.
"Sorry..."
It's fine.
I decided to try out adjusting the size of my wheels. Expand!
All four of my wheels doubled in size, jolting me slightly from the sudden push upwards. Despite expecting it already, I was somewhat shocked. Next, I tried to turn my bumper into a mouth. I visualised it opening and having a mouth inside.
I heard the horrible sound of twisting as my front began to open. It was very uncomfortable. It was then followed by the sensation of feeling new parts added to myself. I looked into my own mouth and saw huge metallic teeth inside, and some sort of metal tongue.
Wait, where did my engine go? I hurried opened my hood and saw my engine, much to my relief. But at the same time, I could still feel my new mouth. I did not understand.

[Your mouth should be in a storage space, much like with the Inventory function.]
An inventory. Of course. More stuff that did not make sense. I felt like my mind was really being tested today with all the weird stuff being thrown at me.
[It's unfortunate that INT was not included as one of the stats you could increase.]
Shut up!
I decided that with this weird power, I should probably try to level up. With all the evidence before me, I would be a fool to still not believe that I had been sent to another world. That meant that there could be horrible monsters that could easily tear metal apart, like in shows I watched back on earth. Even my powerful metallic body would not keep me alive if I didn't buckle up. I sort of wanted to know how much EXP I needed to get to Lv2, but I didn't feel like asking Tablet.
[100 EXP]
Thanks.
I grudgingly thanked it.
After deciding that trying to look for some random animal to kill was my best bet, I drove through the grass aimlessly. If I met a monster, I should probably just escape as fast as I could.
But after what felt like hours, I didn't find any proper candidates.
Who knew an unfamilliar metal machine would scare wildlife away? Even the birds on the few trees around would fly away when I got near. The worst part? I could feel my fuel levels getting dangerously low. When I died on the highway, my fuel level had not been the highest. It would have been fine because I had a lot of fuel stored in my cargo area. But OF COURSE, the fuel did not get taken with me.
[A reminder that you can now eat.]
Yeah, what should I eat? Is there a WcDonalds drive-through here? Or some animal that won't run so I could kill and try to eat it?
[You could try eating the grass or that bush over there.]
Fine. If that would shut you up!
I was running out of options anyway. It wasn't like I had dignity to uphold either. There was a bush with a few strange berries on it nearby. I hesitated as I opened my mouth. I didn't have any standards for things looking tasty or not since I couldn't eat till now, but I had the feeling that this would not be pleasant. It's not like I saw humans going around trying to eat bushes all day. Or did they?
I turned off my eyes and ripped the bush from the ground, giving it a few chews.
I felt like gagging. It tasted so bad. It was... a lot of bad flavours I did not know how to describe. I wasn't exactly versed on how food was supposed to taste. Was all food going to taste that bad? I swallowed it so that I didn't have to taste it any further. But of course, the taste lingered. Was that supposed to happen with food? I could really use a cash wash to clean my mouth...
[+8 EXP]
Ah, the familiar sensation of my fuel tank being refilled. I felt a lot more assured now that I confirmed that food could in fact power me. It wasn't a lot but it could keep me going. But what was that about the experience? I could gain experience from eating? I wasn't sure if that was easier or harder considering how bad my first experience with eating was.
[Nope. Only killing. There were some bugs in the bush.]
I felt disgusted. The thought that I had just eaten a bunch of weird bush bugs was not pleasant. Did I really have to keep eating those? I really hoped there were humans in this world or I would die inside from eating gross bushes all day...
Just then, I noticed a random deer approaching me for some reason. It stared at me with its innocent eyes, filled with curiosity. It was so cute... But I knew what I had to do.
I rammed it as hard as I could, instantly breaking most of its bones. It died instantly, hopefully painlessly as well.
[+20 EXP]
Guilt welled up within me. I'm sorry... I would die if all I had to eat were bushes. Meat was supposed to taste better, right?
"It's alright..." mumbled Radio.
I tried to shake off my remorse. I was doing it for survival! They talked about survival of the fittest, right?
[Wuss.]
Shut up!

Somewhere on Earth, a very confused and scared deer materialised out of thin air on a busy street.
