I wasn’t gonna do anything to the books, but that made me even more cautious on how I would handle these. I stood frozen for a few moments, but I decided to bite the bullet and start looking around, trying to find that book about magic.
It wasn’t hard to find, it certainly looked like it was magical judging by the etherial blue cover with ornate designs and a faint glow.I woke up early to make breakfast, I decided to make something simple for a change: Pancakes.
One by one people exited the sleeping quarters to enjoy the meal, I took note of the twins and waited for them to eat their food before approaching them.
“Is there any chance you could get me that book about magic?” I asked. Mole said something about me having to go through some ordeals to acquire magic, I wasn’t sure how to go to the place where those ordeals took place, but maybe the book detailed it.
I was pretty sure what type of magic I would want to get, but I’d like to weigh my options before anything.
“Yeah, sure.” They said in unison. They both stood up and walked outside, I followed but the two were jogging, that might not look like a problem at first glimpse but these people were massive and had high speed stats, their light jog was my fastest sprint.
I did lose them in the distance eventually but they noticed and slowed down, I wasn’t able to catch up either way, I think they were just baiting me to sprint my way there, either as a sick joke or a way to get my vitality up.
I arrived to the village, drenched in sweat and wheezing hard. I took a few moments to recover my bearings before following behind the twins to a small underground bunker.
This bunker was filled to the brim with books, but this was nothing compared to your average modern library.
I knew that the Dunas Empire did burn all the libraries and whatever books they could find, but how could they only recover this much, this was a travesty.
But if these were the ones they chose to preserve, they must all be important.
“Enjoy the library, if you break anything you’re fuckin’ dead.” One said, before leaving me to just let that statement simmer in my head.
I picked it up cautiously and eyed it.
THE CHOICES
It said in massive golden letters.
I opened it and skimmed through the pages, each page was devoted to telling what type of magic there was, what ordeals you would face, how to prepare, some pages had less info than others. More common types like fire, grain and earth had incredibly detailed descriptions on what exact monsters or challenges you would face, while less common stuff such as gearworks only had the description of the ability written down, with the rest being unknown.
You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
I said earlier that I already had an idea on what I should get, well, luckily enough it was on here.
Metal magic.
I wasn’t exactly sold on it just yet, but I knew that I wanted to make more bullets, I wasn’t sure about the longevity of it but I knew that I would skyrocket up the levels with it, thats for certain.
But a concern arose, I did not know how to make gunpowder, I think potassium was one of the ingredients, but that was about it, I did not think metal magic was a good option at all. I groaned and continued flipping through the pages, I wasn’t satisfied with any of the choices.
Lightning Magic
Lie Detection Magic
Berserker Magic
Paper Magic.
None were interesting enough, some did catch my eye but I didn’t feel like it would fit my build or it would just be too simple for me to manipulate in any smart way.
It wasn’t like I had to choose now, I had plenty of time to weigh the options. I still had plenty of work to do, first I would get my sword and decide what stats I should improve, secondly I need to beat the dungeon boss-
Well, not that much stuff, but I’m sure other things to do will arise from completing what tasks I have.
I still had quite a lot of time.
I flipped to the last page.
Going Through with Your Choices
Now that you have read through every single type of magic known to man, weighed out what benefits it gave, what drawbacks it gave, it is finally time to tell you how to start your ordeals.
It is quite simple, you need to pray to the your god of choice and say these exact words.
Klidaqs Skiwod;Paimai-Shi.
Stocc Ra’n’a’n Paǂʃ Klocc
TƷIkan Mokloi Tirante
“What the fuck,” I muttered to myself, some of these symbols weren’t even in the alphabet, not any alphabet I knew for certain, and how I was I supposed to pronounce Ra’n’a’n. Was this the language of the gods, if it was, then the gods are stupid and-
I felt a tiny electric shock crawl through my spine, I collapsed to the floor.
DO NOT DISHONOR THE GODS.
HOLY FUCK!
It took minutes for me to process that, I was smited- smoted? Either way, I was stuck in the corner of the library with the greatest headache ever. Was I even supposed to be here? What if the gods found out I wasn’t from this world.
Well, they could read my mind, and I’ve said it many times, maybe they brought me here, but what for.
Jesus Christ, I need a break.
I’ll read the rest of the page.
After saying these words, say what type of magic you wish to attain and you will be faced with a notification asking you if you are sure you wish to go through the ordeals, if you are underlevelled it will alert you what the recommended level is for what you are trying to attain.
Do not, under any circumstance, try and go through the ordeals while underlevelled, the challenges are brutal for mind and body, the chances of you surviving are near to zero, patience is key.
