Two arrows soared through the air, digging into the stomach of the dungeon boss, I grabbed my trusty flail and tossed it straight into the mouth of the beast with all the power 18 points in strength could muster.
We were off to a good start, I was rushing towards the beast but I needed to be careful, my health didn’t improve much the last time I faced this monster, if he got a hold of me I don’t know if my hardhat could take any more damage, it was already cracked as it is, I’m not even sure it helps at all.
I definitely need a better helmet.
I got too close to the beast, it swung the boulder around towards me like a woman bashing her purse over someones head, I managed to dash back in time.
The boss spun with the weight of the boulder, it was cunning and knew that he couldn’t survive long with the annoying archer drawing blood constantly, when he spun just enough, he let go of one of the ends of the sling, the giant boulder slammed with great speed in Jeremy’s direction.
But Jeremy was fast, incredibly so. He ducked the boulder and sent three shots to the boss’ legs.
I took advantage of the lack of stability that letting a massive stone spinning you achieves and summoned all my might into a swing of my blade, intending to chop at its Achilles heel.
Woosh
Its massive leg slammed forward into my gut, the boss had donkey kicked me so hard that I slammed into the wall a few meters back, I was left with 30 hp. My blade fell out of my hand as my spine collided with the wall.
My slash still managed to hurt it bad, it was standing on only one leg and was rushing to the best of its abilities towards Jeremy, but the rush looked more like a very weird hop.
I was still able to fight, I felt significantly worse, for sure, but my maximum hp was 30 when I arrived here, I was one clean hit away from dying, but the boss didn’t have much support either.
I collected myself and stood back up, I grabbed the sword from the ground and after a few deep breaths and some convincing, I was ready to kill.
“Jeremy! If I die, go to my world for me, and live as me!”
“I DONT KNOW WHERE THE FUCK YOU LIVE MATE.”
I rushed towards the boss and jumped high into the air, I was surprised at how high I could jump, that I was distracted for a second, but I quickly focused on my task as I saw a hand reaching high in the air for me.
I slammed my sword downwards into the massive hand, it sliced through like butter as my weight and strength had been concentrated on a small point, I fell back but made sure to keep a tight grip on my sword.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
As I fell back and the blade slipped out of the wound, blood erupted from the hand of the beast, it fell to the floor and screamed in pain, Jeremy walked up to the beast and jumped into the air, sending and arrow into its throat and ended it.
“Phew!”
“So, where do you live then?”
“That’s a story for another time.” He shrugged.
[You are now level 9, you have 3 stat points to allocate]
“What level are you now?” I asked Jeremy.
“8.”
“9.”
“Fuck you.” He said.
I laughed for a good minute.
-
“Ah, one level away from getting your class, considering you clearly like to invest in strength, if you don’t get any special choices, you should probably stick to berserker, even if its not your style.”
“Well, Jeremy tells me that I’ve killed, which is preposterous, but if I somehow did, which I didn’t, I’ll just choose that subclass, he says it’s good.”
“You haven’t killed? Not even when we’re out on missions.”
“Missions?”
“Have you not been sent out on one yet?”
“Nah.”
“Oh dear, yeah, they’re only for level 10 and above, we mandate that everyone must choose their class before doing anything, I don’t really do missions as much as the others though, they say I’m too good at getting the newbies real strong, the group will suffer immensely if I die on the field.”
“That makes sense.” I looked around to see if any of the usuals were gone, I noticed that I hadn’t seen both of the twins today, even during breakfast, which everyone attended, maybe their mission needed them to be super early.
“Anyway, we know that the knight for the scrapyard might be coming after us, he has my finger, he can see me developing and he has a rough idea where the speakeasy might be, why aren’t you going after him.”
“We don’t know enough, Garrick is doing some research but there’s too many layers to go through, bureaucracy is a bitch, let me tell you.”
“Yep.” I said. “Well, I do know something about him, he has some real fancy armour, it looks like it’s bound to him for eternity, and that he’s a minotaur, but I don’t know his level, class, magic, whatever. His name is Rath Tuk if that gives you any clue.”
“Minotaur, always tough people, Garrick would have a tough time with him if they ever fought, that’s for sure.” He said, contemplating for a moment. “We’re planning to send someone out to see when any of the new recruits hit level 10, not you or Jeremy though, we’re not risking him recognising you again.”
“Makes sense, who’s the closest to level 10 then, other than us.”
Mole pointed to the corner of the speakeasy, it was that kid Billy I met a few days ago, he was level 6 when he introduced himself, but I forgot everything else about him.
“How is he gonna figure anything out? It’s not like we can discreetly take a finger and then have one of us gobble it up.”
“Well, he must have an office there, the only reason Garrick is hanging out here is because there is a tube from the forge to here, he can quickly zip from place to place. Billy can find some records and maybe we can find a weakness.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
