“Well, I’ll see what I can do but I’m no engineer,” Kashubian said, inspecting the gun closely. “These are some very advanced mechanisms, definitely a relic from the frog people of old, I’m just wondering how it ended up in your lootbox, I’ve never seen anything like it before.”

“It’s from my world, I got this light bulb and this hardhat too, which Jeremy says doesn’t exist here.” If I was bringing stuff from my world into here, the chances of me getting a nuclear missile from a legendary crate aren’t 0, which was unsettling to think about.

“But how is your world so advanced? Ours is at the peak of technological advancement, we discovered gravity just a year ago, that’s the end of science, right?”

“Well, I’m no scientist but in our world, we’ve got more stuff. Thermodynamics, quantum physics, atoms, stuff like that.”

“Can you describe these things?” He asked as if I knew what these things meant or did.

“I’m a historian, I don’t do science,” I explained. “Can you just reconstruct this pistol, I can try to find supplies if that’s any help?”

“Ah, yes, that’d be perfect, where are these supplies you speak of?” He asked.

“I was working at a scrapyard before I joined up here, I could get some metal from there, but I’m not sure what you need.”

“Just get all sorts of stuff, I don’t know either.”

“Alright then, see ya,” I said, walking off and tapping Mole’s shoulder.

“What do you need?” He asked, taking a sip of his beer.

“Tomorrow I have to go to the scrapyard I used to work at,” I said. I could do it today but I decided to delay, I decided that I needed a break and nothing was gonna stop me from doing that.

And today, no matter what, I was gonna find a place to wash, for too long have I been covered in all sorts of stuff, it was time I ventured out and found a river or a lake, my shirt was beige when I entered this world, now it was crimson with shades of the lasagna I threw up.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

I left the speakeasy with two gnoll maces in hand, I didn’t know what was there, but if there was anything, I’d beat the shit out of them for bothering me, today was a day for relaxation, no dungeons, missions, training facilities, murder, anything.

I was walking for what felt like an hour, I kept track of where I was going by bashing trees with my mace until there was a noticeable chunk chipped out. Doing that did slow me down quite a lot, but still, there should be at least a puddle somewhere, I needed somewhere I could rinse off all the grime. For god’s sake, it was raining, where

It was getting kind of hopeless, but I continued marching on, it had to be somewhere, and I was not gonna quit until I found it.

Stepping up over a large hill, I looked over the horizon, looking for a lake, but I found something better.

A village.

I stepped forwards and immediately retracted my foot back. This hill was steeper than I thought.

I sat down and pushed myself forward, might as well have fun with it.

I slid down the hill at intense speeds, it wasn’t like Mole’s tube, but it was still exhilarating. The hill did stop after a while but I kept going, this time it wasn’t exhilarating, it was scary, I tried to stop myself by setting my feet down and pushing back as fast as I could, but I could barely stop, I crashed into a fence and my body slammed against a cow, which remained unfazed, it just ate its grass.

“What in the goddamn are you doin’ on my farm?” Some oddly southern-sounding man said, I quickly got up and walked over to him.

“The hill is very slippery, I wasn’t able to stop myself, sorry about all that.”

“I would forgive you if you weren’t covered in all the worst substances known to man, I’m sorry but you gotta get the hell out of here.”

“Wait, isn’t there a lake or a stream I can wash myself?” I asked. “It’s the only reason I ventured out from my home.”

He stood silently for a second, considering.

“Well, you don’t look like you really wanna be here, but you still broke my fence, fix it and I’ll show you the river.”

I nodded. “Where would I get the wood?”

“Just look through my shack.” He said, not really caring about the safety of his items. “I gotta go eat with my wife.”

It was quite lucky that I had found a village that was seemingly unaffected by the empire, they were all just out farming and chilling out, I could tell the rebels about them and if these guys hated the empire enough, they could use a few more members.
