Now we were fully prepared, we entered the cave and the slipperiness didn’t even bother us, we moved as the gnolls did, it was amazing how much we achieved in just a few days, progress like this back on Earth was simply impossible, it was as if I was running casually on an ice rink.
While this world did have its flaws, hell, 99% of it was flawed, I could still derive enjoyment from this place, I had done so much, I had grown so much. I would’ve never imagined I would be facing off against dungeon bosses and roided-up gnolls, it was pretty cool now that I think about it.
We approached the wall of shards the Gnoll king had protected.
“Didn’t the Gnoll King say something about danger behind these walls?” This place was a dead end, the only way to move was the way out. “If we take these shards, is that when the dungeon boss comes?” I asked.
“Only one way to find out.” Jeremy shrugged.
“Well?” I asked, wondering what he was trying to do.
“You hit some off with your mace, I’m the archer, I stay back.”
“Right…” I said, that was a little unsettling.
Before going in, I needed to figure out what I was fighting, the Gnolls were first, and then kobolds were introduced, the first major fight was a Gnoll, so chances were that this next boss was a roided-up kobold, so the moment I chip some shards off, I need to be ready to move out the way, in case this kobold prefers launching boulders rather than pebbles.
I took a deep breath, raised my hand and smashed a crystal off. Unexpectedly, the whole wall fell down, purple crystals crashing to the floor and rolling around. The stone wall fell to the ground and let out massive waves of dust.
I dashed to the side immediately as a massive, head-sized boulder flew past my head, smashing into the floor a few meters behind Jeremy.
As soon as the dust settled just enough to make out the big, 10-foot behemoth swinging around a sling with another massive rock tucked into it.
I immediately put all my 6 points into vitality, I could only dodge for so long, but I needed to survive it when it did land.
This brought my health straight from 30 to 90, I could survive 3 times as much, I wonder how I didn’t just die on earth.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
An arrow whistled past the air, it sunk into the thick hide of the Kobold’s chest and blood started leaking, but it paid no notice, it wasn’t damaged enough yet.
I slowly advanced, trying to watch for cues or any telegraphs to tell me when he was about to throw, my buffed mind stat helped with this a lot, I was able to think faster, notice things much more easily, my reaction speed was much faster than it were before. I had to thank Jeremy later for getting that haircomb, it was a lifesaver.
I got ever closer, I stood about 5 meters away from the kobold, I needed to not be too rash with how I went about this or it could end with severe consequences. Jeremy was shooting the arrows Kashubian had made, but they barely stuck into the monster, all it did was prick him slightly.
The monster adjusted from its usual rhythm, its arm tilted slightly, it was about to hurl it toward me. I dived to the side, making sure I was out of the way of the boulder, I still wasn’t confident in my ability to survive a hit from one of those, no matter how much vitality I had.
“AAAAGHHH!” A scream bellowed out from deeper in the cave, I looked back and saw Jeremy keeling over, rock resting on his abdomen. The little bastard knew I was gonna move out of the way, it was waiting until things were perfectly lined up.
The kobold was grinning ear to ear, it was enjoying this.
I dashed over toward it while it was reaching for a rock among its large collection of boulders behind him, I jumped up and slammed my mace down into its hand, crushing it in between the mace and a boulder, I saw some bits of bone fly out and that was when I knew we could finally beat it, I had been sacred beforehand, but now I knew what to do.
Jeremy was slowly getting back up and I’d give him some space to sink a few arrows in. I kicked off this mound of rocks and spun once before bashing the Kobold across the jaw, its head cranking back.
It grabbed me mid-air and tossed me up into the ceiling, as I fell back down it delivered the most gut-wrenching punch I’ve ever experienced, my body bent around the kobold’s humungous fist, vomit violently spewed out my mouth and into the kobolds face.
The punch was strong enough to send me back into the ceiling before being swatted aside into the rocks. My already damaged hardhat did its best to keep me alive.
Another arrow soared past, Jeremy managed to hang on even after he got hit, that was some good shit, but I was currently vomiting my guts out.
Still, I could move my arms, albeit slowly and painfully, I reached for my pocket and gripped the back steel as tight as I could, I planted the gun in my other hand, I reached for my pocket again, taking out a bullet.
I pulled back the barrel and slotted the bullet in, I mustered all my strength to turn around and point it towards the Kobold.
Click
The safety was on, for fucks sake.
I turned the gun around and flipped it off, I turned it back towards the boss.
BANG!
