I didn’t really know what to do now, my plans mainly involved becoming level 10, that was when I was able to select my class, when me and Jeremy felt confident enough to fight the hobgoblin, when I was gonna be sent on missions, but I was stuck at level 9 with nothing to do.
On the way back I did decide to take a detour to the cave, but there were only a few gnolls here and there that barely did anything in terms of increasing how much XP I had.
I wonder when I was gonna get a skill up in another combat skill, I got 4 level ups for making lasagna and another one for just cooking decently, maybe the standard in this world was just that low, maybe someone like me could become a very famous cook, provided that this empire actually gave me the freedom to do that, which I highly doubt they did.
I stepped out of the small bunker and ran towards the speakeasy. While running back and forth everywhere did take quite a while, I was getting used to the long commute, in the old world I was living in a dorm, so campus wasn’t that far at all, but now I had to run.
While running, I was reviewing my character sheet and realised I had 3 stat points to allocate.
[You have increased your Vitality stat by 1 through natural means]
[500 XP rewarded]
And another point going into vitality, free of charge. Now I was just that bit closer to reaching level 10, I was at [821/3400] now.
I decided to allocate all my points into vitality as a hit from the dungeon boss left me at 30 HP when I was at 100. Now my max was 140, attacks from the dungeon boss would still hurt like a motherfucker, but at least I was able to take two hits instead of one. I guess the monsters made up for it in full by being less durable than you would imagine. When I slashed at it, the boss’ Achilles heel had been completely destroyed.
Maybe that was just the benefit of my newfound strength and mind bonuses and a lack of vitality, maybe I needed to focus on increasing it more even if I have to sacrifice getting the more enticing options.
It’s not like vitality didn’t provide good benefits outside of being able to take a couple more hits, no, not at all, if I had to guess, that boost in vitality made me about a centimetre taller. Could you imagine that in the real world? All you needed to do was run every day and you’d become taller, even when you’re at the age when you stop growing.

The system would probably set of a bunch of mayhem in my world, but as long as people aren’t dumb as fuck it should be fine.
Actually, this world was living alright when the system was around, it was just magic, and magic being held in the hands of the Autarch that messed things up, I’m sure the world would change for the best if a system was introduced, provided people didn’t break down in tears thinking they were crazy.
Meh, maybe when I make my long-awaited return, I’ll be the only one with a system, selfish ol’ me would love that, I could break just about any world record, even mental challenges too, with a high enough mind stat I could possibly just inuit any complex equations.
Ah, I can’t wait to get back home, this world is making me productive as hell, and I could do things that would break the laws of physics back home, but I would trade all of that in a heartbeat to go back to my bed, sleeping with a bunch of random dudes isn’t for me.
I arrived at the speakeasy and sat down, resting after my run. It was especially tiring and the time it took to get back home increased a lot as I had made a detour to the cave.
I was just about to get ready to sleep, but then I remembered something. I was gonna work out, I’m not sure if my idea would be efficient at all, but I decided to give it a go, there was no harm in trying.
I walked outside and saw a tree that looked like I could cut it up into manageable logs, it wasn’t too thick, it wasn’t too slim.
I hoped that my sword wouldn’t become incredibly dull when I did this, swords were meant for cutting flesh, not bark and wood.
Well, here goes.
I’d love it if I had an axe somewhere.
I mustered up all my strength to slam my blade into the tree as hard as I could, the sword managed to hack through a decent portion, but it was now stuck, I had to wrench it out and hopefully the next couple blows would take the tree out of commission.
I stood behind the blade and gripped the handle with both hands, pulling back as hard as I could but it wouldn’t budge, I tried to lean back and push off the dirt with my legs, and unexpectedly I fell down to the floor, sword having been pulled out of the tree
“Agh, fuckin’ bitch.” I said, standing up and hacking at it once more, this time the tree was just on the verge of falling, I ripped the blade out much more easily this time, and I gave the tree a good, hard kick, it wavered slightly and it fell down on its weight.
Time to cut up the logs then.
This sword is gonna be so useless by the time I’m done with this.
Oh well, no pain no gain.
