Chapter 25: Great Time for a Raid

Chapter 25: Great Time for a Raid

Scepticus then hides behind a tree. He then sees the man in the goatee again. For some reason whenever he looked at him his stomach felt off. Suddenly Celaine fell to the floor, puking. “What’s wrong?” Scepticus whispered to her. “Do you not feel it?” she asked him. “Feel what?”. Suddenly someone jumped onto Scepticus holding a knife towards his throat while another person dragged Celaine away from Scepticus’ sight. Scepticus attempted to punch the man and it worked. “This feels too easy,” Scepticus replied as he then began looking for Celaine, never finding her. “That’s weird,” Scepticus said. He then grabbed the soul of the Hunting Dog as it then began to talk, “PLEASE DON'T DO ANYTHING TO ME! I’M ALREADY DEAD!”. “Exactly. That’s all the more reason to do something to you. Besides, what can I even possibly do to a soul?” Scepticus said whilst smirking.

“Well. You’re going to answer my questions if you want to keep your soul. So, do you know where the girl could’ve gone?” Scepticus asked. “I mean probably the prison in the camp. Although you’ll need to kill all the guards”. “And where is it?” Scepticus asked. “Follow these directions. Forward 10 steps, take a left, then take 300 more steps forward, turn right and move 1 step forward. You should then be in the prison,”. The Hunting Dog then thought to himself, “He doesn’t know that that actually leads to a dead magic zone which also drains stamina,”. Scepticus followed the directions and eventually entered the zone. “So, assassin person. May I know why my mana and stamina are being drained?” he said whilst disappearing with the wind and appearing behind him with his sword at the man’s back. “So are you going to answer my question or die?” Scepticus asked the assassin. Scepticus heard a crack come from the assassin's mouth as his skin slowly turned black and started smelling like a corpse.

“You have ties with that bastardly necromancer? Well another reason to destroy you guys I guess,” Scepticus said. At that specific moment an assassin jumped from a tree above Scepticus and was holding a knife to his neck as Scepticus began wrestling with the assassin. “You know, an assassin is meant to kill its victim before they even realise they’ve been killed. How the hell were you even hired as assassins?” Scepticus advised before using his other hand to punch a hole through the assassin’s stomach. She fell to the ground in a pool of blood. Scepticus then dusted his hands off and entered the prison. He smelt a lot of iron in the air and the air was also pretty damp. He heard the sounds of screaming as somebody was being tortured and from another place a shriek came out before that person started screaming too.

“Pretty eerie place,” Scepticus said to himself. “Pretty eerie?” a mysterious person in a robe said as they forward flipped from a beam which supported the big hallway of the prison before landing on the ground. The person then took a staff with a purple gem at its tip before a fireball appeared and was shot at Scepticus. Scepticus didn’t move an inch. He didn’t need to. He just walked through the fire. The robed person looked at him and said, “Hmm… interesting. If fire doesn’t work on you what will?”. As the robed person said that a spike of dirt propelled from the ground stabbing Scepticus in the chest. “Ooh… This is a different injury for once,” he said as he broke off a part of the spike and removed the part stabbed into him and hurled it towards the robed person.

The robed person then created a wall of dirt to block the spike. Scepticus then jumped onto one of the beams while the robed person was still focused on the spike before jumping from the beam and smashing his greatsword into the ground. “Now that should be taken care of,” Scepticus said whilst feeling some more pain rush to his abdomen. “Hmm.. Scepticus noticed a dagger impaled in his stomach with a green liquid on its tip. “SHIT,” Scepticus said whilst stepping back. “POISON?” Scepticus tried everything in his power to stop the poison but it was already too late. It had entered his bloodstream. Scepticus’ eyes then began to get woozy as he collapsed on the floor. Right before he completely knocked out he saw Celaine rushing to his side quickly before her right arm slowly turned black as she then touched someone and they turned into dust. Scepticus clearly remembered Celaine looking horrified since it was her first time killing someone. He then closed his eyes.

Celaine looked at the robed figure and dashed towards her. Trying to touch her. She felt slightly faster but nothing was much different apart from that. Her hand which had turned black then began to ache. “Hurry up,” a voice in her head echoed, “You need to touch something before you get disintegrated,”. “WHAT?” Celaine thought to herself, “ALSO WHO ARE YOU?”. “I am Asmodeus, one of the Ten Demon Kings who served under Lord Scepticus. NOW HURRY UP,”. “Scepticus? I heard Asmodeus call Devlin that before but I just shrugged it off as some weird incident,” Celaine said to herself. “Girl why are you lost in thought?” the robed person asked her as she realised there was a blade through her stomach. “NOW,” Asmodeus said, “GRAB HER. You’ll heal yourself,”. Celaine grabbed the woman’s hand as she saw both the woman and the blade turn into dust. Celaine then dragged Scepticus' body out into the open. “Is there anything we can do for him, Asmodeus?” she asked. “Firstly, I saved your life. Give me a little appreciation. Secondly, you should respect a higher being like me,” said Asmodeus.

“WE DON’T HAVE THE TIME FOR THIS NONSENSE. HURRY UP. YOUR MASTER SCEPTICUS IS GOING TO DIE,” she said. “Well there is one thing I can do, but it would require me to gain full control over your body. Would you be willing to make that sacrifice?” Asmodeus said. “If it’s for him, yes,” she said whilst clenching her fist against her chest, “Now hurry up,”. Celaine slowly levitated into the air as a lot of black and red mana began to circulate around her. Her usually blue eyes turned red and two horns sprouted out from her head as her clothes slowly gained a fit similar to Asmodeus’. Her legs shattered and turned black with white outlines as they started floating around her. “Heh. It’s been a while since I was last free,”.
