Edward then heard footsteps. And then the door to this place(whatever it was), opened. Edward freaked out for a moment before realising it was a child. Then also remembering that child almost killed him earlier he tried to move but to no avail. This boy had black hair and a section of his hair was cyan. He had big cyan eyes and very thin eyebrows giving him a somewhat feminine look. The boy had a very timid look on his face. He wore a black shirt with a brown utility belt that went from his left shoulder down to his waist. He also wore black pants. He was holding an axe. The boy slowly approached Edward, lifted the blanket off of him and then hit the axe on the shackles, causing them to break. Edward was free from this nightmare. At least he had hoped so. The boy then introduced himself. “Hi I am Devlin. And you are?”.
Edward, hoping to keep his identity a secret and also not trusting Devlin much, said “I am just a traveller”. There was a short pause and Devlin looked up and down Edward. “Well if you were just a traveller I don’t think you would be wearing such exquisite clothing. But who am I to pry? You probably have your reasons,” Devlin said before taking Edward out of the cottage and giving him his horse. “This should help you,” Devlin said. “Oh yeah I’d like some money for it”. Edward dug into his pocket and picked out 10 silver coins. He then gently placed it onto the boy’s hand. “Thank you so much. I’ll never forget this” Edward said whilst moving out with the horse heading in the direction of Baron von Confectiores.
2 and a half Months Later
2 weeks had gone by uneventfully for Scepticus. Just eat, sleep, study and repeat. He had learned a lot about how things are currently since he has factored out the fact it’s another world. Scepticus now knows that there are 7 major churches. 7 churches which he will probably have to fight. He has also learned that the magical development is quite a bit more advanced compared to the humans from 800 years ago. On average now a human could reach level 3 if they tried hard enough. In Scepticus’ age even this was considered an amazing feat. But even one demon lords’ strength greatly outmatched this feat. Scepticus had a few more flashback dreams and now understood his scenario a lot better. Scepticus had forgotten to check his stats the past few times but when he checked recently they were: Strength: 85, Stamina: 85, Health: 50, Agility: 65 and Magic: 75. He had grown quite powerful over those two weeks. His fire magic had evolved to level 3 along with Hell’s Pyre which grew with his fire magic.

Coming back to the churches there were 7 major churches. The Church of Leius which worshipped the Goddess of Order, Leius. The Church of Sorthis which worshipped the God of Destiny, Sorthis. The Church of Viribius which worshipped the God of Strength, Viribius. The Church of Tellus which worshipped the Goddess of Earth, Tellus. These were the more famous of the seven. We’ll cover the other churches later on. Scepticus’ family followed the Church of Leius. Scepticus’ family wasn’t too religious so Scepticus was alright living with them for the time being. Scepticus was actually beginning to enjoy the peace. But the further you sink into the waters of peacefulness, the harder it is to tell. And even if you do find out, can you still swim out?
The season began to transition from spring into Autumn. Scepticus was fascinated by the trees. Scepticus hadn’t seen trees like this probably because wherever he went the trees ceased to exist. One of the days when coming back from school he noticed a bunch of men on white horses came to his village. They were holding a banner with a symbol. The symbol was a wooden circle with olive tree branches. The symbol of the Goddess of Order. What were they doing here? Scepticus tried walking up to one of the men but was stopped by his mother. Then he remembered that due to his family not being too religious the church had marked him and his family with a red flag.
“Now is not the right time to fiddle with the Church's business. It’s only been about two weeks since I transmigrated” he thought to himself. Then he saw Celaine walk up to one of the men. She received food and some money from him. Scepticus walked back into his house because he was bored. He grabbed a piece of paper and sat at his desk. “Magic theory could be pretty useful. But I’m not in the mood for it”. Scepticus started drawing random things but then he drew someone. This person was a tall man with spiky grey hair. He had relatively small eyes that were the same colour as his hair. He wore a grey suit with a black undershirt. He had long grey pants and in his right hand he was holding a book. The title, unreadable.
Scepticus took the piece of paper, crumbled it and threw it into one of the corners in his room. “Why do I keep thinking about them? They backstabbed me already. So why can’t I stop thinking about them?” Scepticus said whilst banging his hand into the table causing a part of it to crack. “Ralforus. Especially you. WHY DID YOU OF ALL PEOPLE ALSO HAVE TO JOIN THEM?” He said, causing the table to break in half. “Shit. I didn’t mean to do that” Scepticus said. Amelia ran upstairs to see if everything was okay and saw a broken table. “Scepticus, why is the table broken?” she asked. “Well… I accidentally broke it” he said. “Ok. That’s fine. Go out of the room while I clean up the mess” Amelia replied. Scepticus left the room and sat on the dining table, staring out the window. Amelia cleaned the mess and noticed the crumbled piece of paper. She picked it up and she had shivers sent down her spine. Something about the person in this picture was familiar. Awfully familiar.
