Kenji slowly picked himself up off the ground, but Fuyu paid no mind.
"Water sphere rotation."
Thousands of sphere-shaped streams of water flew at Kenji. He had nowhere to turn. I waited eagerly to see what Kenji would do, but he seemed to be at a loss. He put his hands in front of him and let the spell hit him. This moved him closer to the lake, which was only two steps away.
"Kenji you can do it!" I tried to give him some encouragement.
He kept his hands still in defense and his breathing ragged. He was absently studying Fuya, as if perhaps he wanted to get inside his head. Fuyu started laughing loudly and then tapped his finger on his temple.
"Are you trying to control me, Kenji? I'm a vampire. You just can't get in here." He smiled smugly and tapped his temple.
"And most importantly... You broke a rule, and now I'm going to punish you for it." He said in a more serious voice now and began to stretch.
"Fuyu no! You're overreacting!" I yelled at him, but he didn't heed my words.
"Water ecstasy!"
I opened my eyes in disbelief. He did it! A giant wall of water appeared in front of Kenji, blocking the mass of water.
"Kenji..." I wheezed in disbelief.
My eyes glowed, looking at the spectacle. Kenji was looking as mesmerized as I was. Then everything stopped. Kenji slumped a little to the ground.
"I'm fine." He yelled.
I was a little scared, but his thumb on the mountain calmed me down. Fuyu had reached him in the meantime. He watched for a moment as he sighed tiredly. He can't be scolded, can he! I was afraid of what would come out of that demon.
"You're a great magician." He said simply.
Kenji shot him a disbelieving look. My chin dropped to the ground too. Did he really say that?! He praised someone and even without sarcasm.
Fuyu gave him a hand and helped him up. It's hard to believe, but Fuyu is right. Kenji is amazing. He has so much potential and talent. He's going to be a powerful magician one day. Kenji rolled down next to me and I started to wonder where the hell I was going to get a towel, but Fuyu beat me to it. He walked over to his bag and pulled out a dry towel and threw it at Kenji.
".Thank you" He sputtered and started to wipe himself off.
Although Fuyu is a terrible adversary sometimes, he's actually awfully nice inside, but he doesn't show it despite his cold persona. I wonder if he was always like this or if life made him this way? I couldn't think about it anymore since, Fuyu took me out of my thoughts.
"Now Iruka."
Okay I take it back, he's not nice.
"Hahahaha. And you laughed at me? Look, you have ducks on them." Kenji mocked me.

Well laughing at others is not good. Karma really does exist. Trust me. Fuyu laughed too, which made me feel pretty bad.

"Stop staring at me. Idiot!" I snapped angrily at him without realizing what I just said. Fuya's rather cute face disappeared and was replaced by an ice cold death stare.
Oops.
"Water cannon!"
Holy shit why I said something. I jumped, but not in time. The shot hit me in the left shoulder. I fell to the ground. Before I knew it, I had waterballs pointed at me. I rolled backwards and rolled over. Suddenly my foot slipped and my toe hit the still lake water.
"What? When did I get so close." I yelled.
Suddenly, another pump of water was pointed at me. I quickly got up and ran to the side. Finally on my feet. I really wanted to use some other spell, but I knew that would be wrong. And more importantly... I want to get the element of water. As I was thinking that, I didn't notice that there was another stream of water coming at me. I registered it too late. The spring hit me and I ended up in the lake.
Icy!!! I quickly swam to the surface. I spit out the water I had poured in after the fall and got my bearings. Fuyu was standing by the shore and... laughing at me? He was laughing at me?
"You're such a case. Rule number one, always focus. Now you're, give it 20 minutes in the lake. When you come out... Well, I'll send you back in." He announced haughtily and started to leave.
I don't know what happened to me, but somehow all the anger from maybe my entire life had built up inside me and just needed to vent out. I would never describe myself as explosive, but from the moment I touched that egg in my subconscious, something dark kept growing inside me.
"Hey!" I shouted at him.
He just looked back over his shoulder with disinterest.
"I'm not done with you." I said angrily.
The water began to bubble unnaturally around me. Sharp, high waves began to form everywhere. Fuyu now turned around with full surprise in his eyes. I knew exactly who I had summoned.
A huge avalanche of water in the shape of a Chinese dragon emerged from the depths. Fuyu stared in disbelief and took a few steps back. The dragon roared mightily. We now shared the same fury.
"Go ahead and attack." I nodded my head a little towards Fuyu to signal a challenge.
Fuyu lifted one corner of his mouth.
"Then show me if you can water wall."
He bounced off the ground and waved his arms.
"The Wrath of Aquarius."
His hand lowered perhaps a sea of water. Unbridled and seemingly dangerous, the water headed towards me. The dragon behind him only roared at the avalanche of water.
"Water barrier!"
A wall three times the size of Kenji's appeared in front of Iruka. And perhaps it was better that way, because the water wall wouldn't have held it otherwise. It didn't take long for the spell to disappear, and with it, the dragon. Iruka swam to the shore where he began to crawl out of the water. Someone picked him up and set him on his feet as if he were made of feathers. I didn't even have to look at him to know it was Fuyu.
"I'm sorry. A wall of water wouldn't work against your magic." I squeaked, my arms wrapped around his waist.
"It's okay. I'm not angry. You considered it exactly right. Just be careful with the anger next time." He lifted a finger to my chin and forced me to look at him.
"I'll work on it." I smiled awkwardly.
"Then dry off. Now let's go home and talk some more there."
•••••••••••••••
Kenji and I sat by the crackling fireplace, gnashing our teeth like two skeletons. Everyone was here, just waiting for Fuyu to give us more information. Well, we about the wolf and the wolf at the door. Fuyu strolled into the lounge and started:
"Well, I want to congratulate you both for making it through our speed training. Unfortunately, we had some more plans for you, but you two can handle yourselves. Just before I start talking about what's next, I want to say that I was very surprised today. My goal was to put you in some kind of dangerous situation. I think the trigger for new spells is self-preservation. And you have it perfectly. So that's it. Tomorrow we'll go back to Taiyo. Your exams start on Monday. So pack your bags. We're leaving tomorrow." He finished. He turned on his heel and left. Natsu left to much cheering, and Haru with him.
So that's why I was leaving my warm bed ? I'm gonna beat that kid up someday...
