Chapter 32 – Plateau Empire’s 14th Prince

Chapter 32 – Plateau Empire’s 14th Prince

AS PROMISED, ONE CHAPTER FOR APRIL!

----------------------------------------

“Welcome to the Plateau Empire’s Annual Youth tournament. On behalf of the royal family, I, second prince of the Plateau Empire Hui Honghui welcomes all of our esteemed guests from across the continent,” Hui Honghui spoke aloud while standing in the center of the arena.

The first age and face test had already been conducted and Hai Yun and Qin Cheng were already seated in the area specially designated for competitors.

“How come your competing here?” one youth asked another.

“For the viewing spot of course. I don’t dare to offend any of the young masters from the major sects but as long as I signed up as a competitor I have a chance at watching the battles up close!” the second youth replied.

Conversations like this were occurring at large across the entire competitors section. Only the people from the highly respected sects remained silent as they stared at each other with slit eyes. Even Hai Yun was joining in these conversations, pretending to be one such spectator. However, because this area was designated for competitors and competitors only, there was no one above the Nascent Spirit level! This allowed Xue Yi all the freedom to float around and measure up each of the representatives from the various sects.

“Brats, those two twins at the back are already at the 4th level of the Nascent Profound realm. Judging from their demeanor, they should have prior battle experience, be careful when facing them.” Xue Yi advised.

Hai Yun and Qin Cheng were both shocked upon hearing this news. Breaking through 4 entire levels in less than a year was no joke! They either must have abnormal talent or have been fed some heavenly panacea for it to be possible. The Nascent Spirit stage was the first stage in cultivation, thus, as the foundational stage it typically took a long time to break through. It was only once someone reached the spirit king stage would cultivating a small realm take longer as it does in the Nascent Spirit stage. Hai Yun and Qin Cheng both had otherworldly talent, but even that only allowed them to instantly break through 2-3 stages. If it hadn’t been because of the elixirs Hai Yun concocted, he would not even have reached the 4th level of the Nascent Profound realm yet.

“What are they doing?” Hai Gui scowled as he stared fixedly at Hai Yun and Qin Cheng. Due to his defeat at the hands of Yue Ling’er he was already frustrated and had been looking forward to venting on Hai Yun, yet somehow Hai Yun and Qin Cheng had snuck past all the sentries he posted around the arena and were now entered in the tournament. He obviously didn’t believe that Hai Yun or Qin Cheng could win the tournament, so why would they enter? Did they not know that the Dark Moon sect’s Grand Elder’s twins were competing here?

If one were to estimate the resources spent on the extremely talented disciples in a peak power, they might vomit in jealousy. But even those resources pale when compared the treatment of extremely talented disciples that are the children of a 9th or 10th stage Spirit Sovereign Powerhouse. Because reproductive fertility was inversely proportional to ones cultivation talent, people who could read the 9th or 10th stage of the Spirit Sovereign realm rarely had more than 3 children, thus these children would naturally receive the best possible treatment from birth. They were no different than royalty for the sect. This is why Hai Gui believed it to be impossible for anyone other than those two twins to win this tournament.

How could he imagine that the boy he was trying to kill had been able to break through from the 3rd to the 4th stage of the Nascent Spirit realm in little under a month. Had he known, he might not have dared to offend Hai Yun with even two times the guts he had currently.

“Today, we would like to open the tournament with a very special competition! As this is the year that our kingdom’s 14th prince awoke, please allow us to open this tournament with my younger brother’s match!” Hui Honghui declared to the crowd. Although his language seemed to be requesting the audience’s permission, there was no hint of permissiveness in it.

At this moment, an inconspicuous youth leaped into the ring with a bamboo cane in his hand.

“Brother, I heard that we have an odd number of competitors today?” the youth who was obviously the 14th prince asked.

“Yes,” Hui Honghui was slightly confused as to why his brother would ask such a question, “Why do you ask?”

“Because, instead of allowing some random person to get a bye this first round, can I have two opponents?” the 14th prince’s voice echoed throughout the stadium. Obviously, the kingdom was very confident in this prince of their’s, otherwise they would not dare to use him to increase their prestige in this manner.

“Arrogant,” a young cultivator in the back of the competitor stands muttered. From his clothing Hai Yun had deduced that this boy was from Seven Mirage Valley, one of the Peak powers Hai Yun was very interested in destroying. If they had opportunity to meet in the stadium, Hai Yun would definitely teach him a proper lesson.

At the next moment, another young master waved his hand and two other youths immediately jumped from the competitor stands onto the arena floor.

One of those youth’s cracked his neck as he slowly walked up to the 14th prince.

“Since you wish to humiliate yourself so badly, our Black Iron Fortress is more than happy to oblige.”

Hui Honghui was just about to try to rectify this situation when the 14th prince gave a slight bow to the youth’s from the Black Iron Fortress before dashing towards them. To the elderly from the higher ranked powers, the 14th prince’s speed seemed almost snail like, however to all others they were completely unable to tell when his feet left the ground as he seemed to appear infront of those two youth’s within a split second.

“What terrifying speed,” Qin Cheng whispered.

“Not speed, power! He didn’t dash, he simply kicked off the ground at an angle allowing him to travel that fast. This type of movement is extremely limited in the fact that he can only move in straight lines,” Xue Yue explained.

“He isn’t even moving that fast though?” Hai Yun muttered confused. Due to his abnormally high soul strength, the speed of the 14th prince realy wasn’t that fast. In fact, Hai Yun hadn’t noticed it yet but the entire world had already slowed down in his eyes.

“Stop being arrogant,” Xue Yue admonished.

At this moment the 14th prince flicked his bamboo cane back forth smacking the two unprepared youths nearly twenty times each!

Pah! Pah! Pah!

They never even got a chance to respond before the 14th prince planted his feet on the floor infront of them. That’s correct, he hit them twenty times still in mid dash!

Once his feet connected with the floor, he merely twirled once before hammering both of the youths with his fists and sending flying.

“And… that concludes the first match,” Hui Honghui sighed.

“To all those who were wondering,” the 14th prince turned to look up into the competitor’s stand, “My name is Hui Hao and I am at the 4th stage of the Nascent Spirit Realm. Fight me if you dare!” he challenged.
