On the shoreline of the Dark Emerald Nation, in the southern part of the Divine Phoenix Continent, a youth no older than 17 is laying on the white, quartz-like sand.
As he stared indifferently at the sky, in his mind the memory of a white haired old man continuously replayed itself.
“The one thing this old man shall never regret is adopting you as my grandson. No matter what anyone else will say, about how your creation brought the fall of our sect, pay no heed. All you must remember is that only you can revive us. Only you can make this war worth it! Hai Yun, get out of here alive and after we fall remember… that we have no regrets placing our last bets, with you!” the old man gently smiled as he finished. However his back remained facing away from Hai Yun.
The youth can feel the salt residue left behind by the tears staining his face. This old man was his foster grandfather. After being born, he had been placed out on the street. The old man had been passing by and heard his cries so he picked him up and brought him to the sect.
The sect was called the Crystal Ocean Alchemist Sect. It was comprised of over half a million alchemists who trained in the many arts of alchemy and refining. They were an incredibly influential power, being the strongest alchemist sect on the Scarlet Flame Continent. They had the most up-to-date recipes and medical practitioners, as well as a strong military to defend themselves against infringements by other sects.
In these arts of alchemy, Hai Yun was a peerless talent. Not a single alchemist under the age of 30 could match him in refining elixirs. The elixirs he refined were not only superior in quality, but as he had also attained the rank of divine alchemist at the age of 16, his elixirs gained additional beneficial effects.

One time, while experimenting, he developed a recipe for a pill that would allow someone to retain their memories when being reincarnated. This elixir, which was rightfully named ‘Efficacious Nirvana’, brought about a calamity. In order to obtain this powerful elixir 21 of the continents peak level powers teamed up to rob the Crystal Ocean Alchemist Sect.
Amongst them were some people who had even owed many of the doctors there a human sentiment. However they felt no burden to rush in and obtain this miracle medicine and of course, kill its maker so it could not be replicated…
Naturally, how could the alchemists allow these greedy fellows to get what they wanted! Seeing that defending themselves was a lost cause and knowing that they would all be slaughtered or enslaved with the knowledge that they had any memory about the formula, they did their utmost to help Hai Yun escape before committing suicide.
Now lying on the beach 500 km from the island where the sect’s main base was located, Hai Yun glared at the sky in fury.
“Dark Emerald Kingdom, Heavenly Thunder Sect, Infinite Sword Palace, Golden Crow Sacred Ground, Dark Moon Sect, Heavenly Tribulations Sect, Yin-Yang Paradise, Divine Phoenix Clan… All of you who turned your backs on us and coveted our elixirs, know this, I will destroy you from the face of the universe!”
“A New sect will rise up on that island you razed and it will lord over all of you! Its power and prestige will be enough to decimate any hope you have of retaliating. That island is my, Crystal Ocean Alchemy Sect’s, it has been so for the last 5000 years and it shall continue to be for all of my reincarnations!”
He took out a golden pill with blue liquid swirling around inside it and popped it into his mouth, followed by a green liquid which gave off a sweet aroma. The golden pill was none other than an ‘Efficacious Nirvana’ while the other was a deadly poison. Thus he quietly closed his eyes and his consciousness faded. His body rapidly decomposed leaving him with a burning sensation before the sweet feeling of death…
