CHAPTER 25 – I CAME TO KILL YAN QIU!
“I know I am not your target, but how foolish must an assassin be to leave behind a living witness. The fact that you’re here is obviously because you were sent to assassinate someone important, and whoever wants them dead definitely doesn’t want to be traced! For that simple fact you would definitely eliminate me!”
Hearing this the assassin almost choked in laughter. It required all of his willpower to hold his stomach and prevent himself from collapsing. “Stupid kid, I almost forgot you were just an ignorant little brat and thought you were smart. Let me explain,” he paused, only to start chuckling again. “This blade in my hand is that of the Scarlet Cloud Poison Sect. I was not even intending to sneak in, it was simply that I arrived on this island in the middle of the night and don’t plan to waste unnecessary time so I decided to carry out the operation right now. As for you, I only wanted to ask for directions.”
“This…” Qian Mu was dumbfounded. She completely forgot about the Scarlet Cloud Poison Sect. Those assassins would print the name of their sect on the bodies of those they killed. Who would go around searching for witnesses if they already knew the culprits?
However she did not believe him so easily because there was a flaw in what he had just said, “Why did you kill the guard then? Wouldn’t he know the direction better?” she asked suspiciously.
“Eh, guard?” the assassin asked confused. “Oh this passerby, I searched his spirit aura and found that there was a trace of a spirit imprint. His death should have alerted the other guards and they should be looking for people similar to me now. However I tampered with the location that was transmitted back to them so they think this guard died in the hallway next to us. I am not some idiot who wants to be surrounded the moment I kill my target, so I plan to call the guards in one location so I can go about my life in a simpler manner,” the assassin spoke matter of factly, without hiding any of his intentions.
However Qian Mu was alarmed by his way of thinking. The way he so nonchalantly told her all of his plans seemed to indicate one of two things. Either he lied, or he simply decided that she was unable to stop him so there was no need to hide his plans.
This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
Truth be told, it was most probably the latter, for the current her had no elixirs she could use for combat. This situation was like him explaining to an ant how he planned to eradicate their nest… Even if the ant could understand him, he could still kill it before it could so much as twitch!
“Then who exactly are you trying to kill?” Qian Mu asked. At this point there was no point in asking further, he was most definitely from the Scarlet Cloud Poison Sect, so she might as well tell him. Besides she didn’t plan on letting the owners of this place live peacefully anyway. So long as he didn’t want to kill the servants or the old head of the medical pavilion she wouldn’t mind telling him the general direction the elders who were stationed here lived.
“I came to kill Yan Qiu!” the assassin spoke.
Him??? Qian Mu’s eyes widened. Yan Qiu was the same person who had been abusing her for all of these days, and she felt nothing for him other than raw hate. Despite having not sentenced a human to death before, it was not like she hadn’t seen her father kill some people who stole from them. And this time, the target was someone she hated to the very bones.
However how could it be easy to simply sentence someone to death? Watching others be killed and being part of the murder were two completely different concepts. Being forced to choose whether or not she should kill Yan Qiu, simply because he had wronged her? However the Golden Crow Sacred Ground was also responsible for doing many charitable things.
Each year they would send out 200 outer court disciples to the poor villages in the country side and defend them from the cold using profound flames. And she had personally witnessed Yan Qiu lead this operation before…
So was he really such a bad person? Asking her to make such a decision was far beyond her grasp.
“Well if you don’t know that’s fine to, I’ll find it myself somehow,” the assassin sighed. He could tell it was difficult for this girl to decide whether or not she wanted to kill Yan Qiu, so he decided to not hurt her heart any further. Let the innocent remain innocent was his personal motto.
Qian Mu slowly exhaled a breath of relief as she was no longer forced to choose. It was like the burdens in her heart had been moved. Now if Yan Qiu were to be found, it would have nothing to do with her. Instead she was the one who had delayed the assassin, this made her feel much, much better.
As she scanned her surroundings she could faintly hear the clamor of guards charging to the hallway next to her. However she failed to notice that a certain golden chick was happily looking out of her pocket.
