CHAPTER 18 – DEATH QI DETECTED

After the fight had finally died down, Qin Cheng was considerably calmer. Although she did not yet know what happened, but for there to be no life threatening injuries and only some flesh wounds, she knew the fight had not gotten as intense as she thought it might.

This calmed her heart by a considerable amount. She had been worried of offending her brother Hai’s family even before they got engaged. That would be quite foolish.

However her sweet reveries of Hai Yun were quickly destroyed as her senses suddenly began to scream. Death Qi!!!!

Having fused with the samsara Flame tigress, who had the Fire and Life attributes, she was very sensitive to the Death attribute. And there was clearly a very strong amount which had recently entered the town!

Curious, she got up and started to head in the direction she induced. However after she reached the main entrance of her house she was stopped by the guards.

“Sorry miss, we are under the orders of the patriarch to not let you out.”

Qin Cheng frowned. Why wasn’t she allowed outside? Even if there was a fight, she was the new disciple of Elder Nan Gong from the Holy Music Pavilion! No one would dare to make a move on her.

In fact, it was primarily because of this reason that she was suspicious of the assassination attempt. Because the servant should not have had any intentions of assassinating her! No one in this region would have the guts to offend Elder Nan Gong! So why would anyone be foolish enough to assassinate her?

However before she could speak up she was interrupted by her father. “Cheng’er, the Hai Clan main family has arrived. Although the branch family may not dare to hurt you, the main family certainly will.”

He had just been passing by when he noticed the scene occurring at the front gates. Unbeknownst to him, it was because she had felt him nearing that she had wanted to get out sooner!

“Ok father,” she said dejectedly. Is the Death Qi from the main Hai family? She wondered. However she obediently followed her father back.

Hai Yun carefully hid in the street corner as he observed the Qin Manor. The best way to put down this dispute would be to go and make use of Elder Nan Gong. For if he were to waltz back into the Hai family, the main branch would then know what he looked like, allowing them the chance to assassinate him and then marry their representative to Qin Cheng before he awoke.

As he thought about this he sneered. Trying to steal my, Hai Yun’s fiancé! Just you wait and see what happens to those who offend a Divine Ranked Alchemist!

“Oh my brilliant ancient god duo, would either of you have any ideas on how to get in there?” Hai Yun asked. He had already determined that neither one of these two would actually leave him, because they both wanted to make him rise to his full potential. When they were discussing this person called “Ocean Flame” and the shock on their faces from hearing about the Ocean Heart Sutra, he knew very well that what he had, was coveted even by the gods! In fact, it was because the Ocean Heart Sutra required a special soul to cultivate it that he even had the assurance that these two wouldn’t steal it from him.

“Snarky brat, if you don’t cut it out with the attitude I will just let you die from practicing the Ocean Heart Sutra without a Dao companion!” Xue Yi growled. This was already his fourth time making this threat, so he was well aware that Hai Yun had realized what his value was to him. And if anything Hai had perhaps underestimated his own value. For how could he know what it meant to have the soul of someone who was on par with the 3 god Emperors! Only Xue Yue could put this into perspective.

Si Wang also emerge from Hai Yun’s body at around the same time Xue Yi  came out. However she chose to ignore Hai Yun’s attitude and simply got to the point, “Getting in should be fairly easy. There is only the Samsara Flame Tigress who is sensitive enough to Death Qi to detect us, but I doubt this youngling will alert anyone. Even if she does, I do not think they would believe her.

[Remember this is the name Xue Yue gave Hai Yun, from here on out, I will refer to Xue Yue as Xue Yi. ***NOTE*** Xue Yue means Blood Moon while Xue Yi means Snow Medicine or Snow Doctor]

I would recommend activating the teleportation array to the Isle of Wailing souls. Then shrink the temple so it is no larger than a fly and hopefully your soul will be strong enough to float it in.”

Hai Yun thought about it for a bit. Logically, this would make sense. After he had nearly devoured everything in the Isle of Wailing souls, Si Wang finally got fed up. However she was unable to kick him out, because he refused to go directly to the door, and instead wanted to loiter around. Thus after much thought, and losing much of her garden, she decided to convert her temple into a natal artifact.

That way she could tie herself to Hai Yun and hopefully, should he ever exceed her old level one day, she could reshape a body for herself. Currently, he was the only one with the potential to reach that boundary that she knew of in this small world. She had used her soul sense to scour the continent a plethora of times, so when Hai Yun showed up, it was like a blessing from the heavens.

Hai Yun decided to put this plan into action. Suddenly disappearing from his location, he arrived in the Isle of Wailing Souls. He still felt this whole situation was kind of strange. Supposedly, ones natal artifact exists inside ones natal palace in the head. Most people can send a spiritual version of themselves into their natal palace to check on their natal artifact every now and then, but he could throw his physical body into his natal artifact, which was supposedly inside him?!?!

Although Si Wang had explained that this temple was special, in that it had the primary purpose of taking him to other places, so he wasn’t really inside the temple, it still didn’t make much sense, because a physical body should be needed to activate teleportation arrays. Si Wang had tried to explain why that was not the case for her temple, but it didn’t make much sense.

So by sitting on the teleportation array in the Isle of Wailing Souls, he sent his soul strength through and took control of the micro sized temple, which was now sitting on the floor.

Snaking one tendril of soul strength around it, he tried to pick it up from the ground. However as he was pulling it up he suddenly felt a sharp pain on his back. Ignoring it he tried to lift it further.

“Are you insane!” Xue Yi screamed. “Don’t even try to lift it any higher than a millimeter! Just move it along. You don’t have the necessary strength to lift it over the wall. Just go past under their feet!”

Hai Yun clenched his teeth. AS he began to shakily move the temple one tiny millimeter at a time.

Suddenly, he felt the sharp pain in his back again. However this time it felt like the world was collapsing on top of him as he screamed in agony. Blood immediately filled his throat and started flooding from his nose.

The temple, in its miniscule size smashed into the ground and was covered by sand.

Si Wang sighed in exasperation, as Xue Yi burst out in laughter.

“Why the hell are you laughing,” Hai Yun choked through the blood in his throat.

“Why? Hehe because you weren’t paying attention so ended up getting stepped on by a weak and pathetic human. Just look at your ridiculous state!” Xue Yi began laughing even harder.

Si Wang only sighed while shaking her head. “You best move the temple as far as possible into a place it wont be stepped on again. Because the pain will only get worse because it is your natal artifact”

Hai Yun grit his teeth and clenched his hands into fists as he forced himself back onto his feet. Imitating a horse stance he restarted and began forcing the temple out of the sand.

Ignoring the blood which continued to stream down his nose he moved the temple as fast as he could.

Author's Note #1: Thank you for the review ZXNORBREZ! I will be fixing the lack of history and details about the characters in the upcoming chapters. I had originally mentioned the order of the cultivation realms in chapter 8, but when I looked at it I realized it really was incredibly insufficient. I hope this gloassary can be more useful in understanding it. If there is something else which I missed, please let me know!

I will be adding some of the Elixirs that have been used here shortly!
