Chapter 30 - Moon Essence

Chapter 30 - Moon Essence

“Young master, after capturing one of the Lin family servants, we found out that Hai Yun had originally offered to provide the Lin family 10 vials of grandmaster ranked elixirs everyday,” A servant garbed in black was bowed as he spoke to the injured Hai Gui in bed.

“10 Vials a day!” Hai Gui almost choked. Even the ancestor ranked alchemist the Hai Clan had working for them would produce 30 vials a day but only give them 7 at the most!

“Truly a stupid brat. His family must have given their entire stock of elixirs to him which is why he doesn’t understand their true value,” after hearing this piece of news Hai Gui became certain that Hai Yun was no alchemist. He simply assumed that Hai Yun had received a massive stock of elixirs and so didn’t know how to pretend to be an alchemist. Thus he simply deemed Hai Yun naïve. Had he known the true circumstance was because this 13 year old Hai Yun was the number one alchemical talent who had broken the record for elixir concoctions at 17, then perhaps Hai Gui would have committed suicide to prevent any calamity from befalling his clan for offending someone with such great power.

“Ah Li, go and follow that brat. My wounds will recover enough to deal with that shrimp in two days. He better not run too far away by then,” Hai Gui’s eyes narrowed as he gave his orders.

Ah Li, the servant bowed slightly deeper before slowly turning and leaving the room.

“Boy, that man in the black robe has been following you for the past half hour,” Xue Yi stated blandly as he looked around.

Since there was no one near the rank of Spirit Sovereign around here or any other Divine Ranked alchemist, Xue Yi didn’t need to hide, thus he could strut around in his spirit form in a 3 meter radius around Hai Yun in broad daylight but not a single person would be able to pick up his presence.

The reason he had to lend Hai Yun his eyes during Qin Cheng’s awakening was also due to the nearby Elder Nangong who was a Spirit Sovereign ranked practitioner.

“Huh! I haven’t done anything too suspicious to have received someone targeting me, have I?” Hai Yun questioned.

“From what I can see, this person is wearing a jade medallion with the same symbol that is engraved on your family’s front door,” Xue Yi stated.

He had not been able to come out and carefully observe Hai Gui and his servants last time because he didn’t want to be discovered, otherwise with his god like perception he would certainly have been able to notice that all servants of the Hai Clan main branch wore such a medallion for identification. Luckily, the Hai Clan symbol was engraved on Hai Yun’s front door, thus Xue Yi was able to identify it.

“Hai Clan?” Hai Yun frowned. Why would someone of the Hai clan be following him? More importantly, did they know that he was Hai Yun?

However, he quickly dismissed this notion because unless they had a divine ranked alchemist amongst themselves, there should be no other way to identify that his disguise was created using elixirs. This is because only someone with soul power equal to or greater than Hai Yun’s would be able to see the soul strength imbued over Hai Yun’s body which identifies his present appearance as a disguise.

Walking quickly Hai Yun ducked himself into an alley way and using his expert soul power control, he moved the elixir covering his body into a new shape. Giving himself the stature of a fat man at least six inches shorter than his previous guise. Obviously, he had doused his clothes in an elixir long ago, rapidly changing the color, size and style all over it.

All of this occurred in an instant, and when that cloaked figure finally entered the alleyway, only a fat man was visible, wobbling his way as he turned right onto the next street.

However, just as the fat man disappeared around the corner, the cloaked figure pulled out a scarlet red compass. This compass had a golden needle with a small red line running through it. And after the cloaked figure injected some qi into the compass, the needle spun in two revolutions before point in the direction the fat man had just disappeared.

On the other hand, Hai Yun, had once again swapped his appearance behind a pillar out of everyone’s sight. However, if one paid close attention, then they would notice that his right eye had a faint red tinge to it, as if a very light film was covering the eyeball. And currently, his facial expressions were incredibly ugly. Both as a reflection of his mood, and his disguised appearance.

“Damn it, why do these people have a bloodline detector!” Hai Yun cursed. His previous opinion of them not knowing his real identity instantly vanished. They most definitely had a guess of his true identity.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

Being in the city, he had naturally heard of Hai Gui’s humiliating defeat. Thus it could be assumed that the person following him was one of Hai Gui’s servants. However, this was not the reason his facial expressions were ugly.

The real reason was because he had completely forgotten about the Bloodline Detector! If Hai Yun had mentioned this when he was accused of being an Azure Sea Continent bastard, then wouldn’t he not have had to run away from home?!?! This one thing could have been proof of his status as a legitimate child of the Hai Clan!

This was the actual reason Hai Yun was irritated.

Plateau Empire Royal Palace

“What do you think, surprising right?” Yue Ling’er smiled sweetly as she spoke.

“This… This… Isn’t this moon essence!” The sharp featured youth’s face contorted.

Moon essence was an incredibly rare material capable of allowing gravitational runes to be etched on it.

Firstly, runes were a type of symbol which could be etched onto materials in order to give them additional effects, such as allowing them to unleash martial skills. A common example would be an iron sword inscribed with the fire blade runes. When one pours ones heaven and earth qi into the sword, it would result in a blade of covering the iron. This greatly increases the blades power and strength.

However, if one wished to inscribe a higher level rune, such as the Shattering Earth skill which causes the ground to rupture, the minimum requirement would be for the sword to be made of Spiritual Iron. That is because Spiritual Iron is a material naturally strengthened by its spiritual property allowing it to withstand the impact of such a skill.

Moon Essence, is also a raw material. However it is the only one capable of withstanding the impacting of using a gravitational rune!

What is a gravitational rune? It is a rune which can control the gravity of various objects. Thousands of years ago, one very small kingdom had discovered a load of Moon Essence. This kingdom equipped all of their soldiers with armguards made of moon essence with the Gravity Lock rune etched on them.

The gravity lock rune targets a single opponent and increases that opponents gravity, resulting in their attraction to the ground becoming very strong. Normally, this can reduce an opponents battle efficiency by a small amount, however if an entire army were to cast this skill at the same time on the opposite army, it would be a miracle if all of those enemy soldiers weren’t stuck together into a massive ball.

To top it all off, a special property of Moon Essence is to negate the effect of any Gravitional skill being used on its wearer. This way one doesn’t get stuck to their opponent during Gravity Lock.

Using these armguards, the small country rapidly grew and would have become a 6th grade power had their enemies not also discovered a Moon Essence lode to help them cancel the effects of the Gravity Lock.

However, after so many thousands of years having passed, all of the moon essence mined at that time had long since decayed and was no longer usable. Since no one had been able to find any massive lode of Moon Essence in thousands of year, everyone had thought that this metal had disappeared and only existed in records.

But for Yue Ling’er to have 5 jin block of raw Moon Essence, clearly proved that such a lode existed!

The sharp featured youth, was actually the second prince of the Plateau Empire and during one of his escapades, he had won the heart of the Dark Moon Sect’s Yue Ling’er. His name was Hui Honghui, a bit of an odd name, but since that escapade of his, the two had grown quite close and had long since made marriage plans.

“Ling’er, where did you find this?” Hui Honghui asked eagerly.

“Obviously in your plateau empire! This thing was just sitting in the core of a boulder which I accidently broke down,” Yue Ling’er explained happily. Compared to her provoking attitude in front of Hai Gui, she seemed more like a harmless flower in front of Hui Honghui.

“Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!” Hui Honghui laughed merrily, “Ling’er, you have truly helped me greatly this time. With this, I can raise the plateau empire to the level of a 5th grade power! Father will definitely give me the throne, and then I can uprightly come to the Dark Moon sect and ask for you hand!”

“Brother Honghui, Ling’er awaits that day more than anyone!”

“Brat, what do you plan to do if they keep following you?” Xue Yi was starting to become a bit restless. That’s because no matter what he thought, other than sitting in the Isle of Wailing souls, that Bloodline Detector would be able to follow Hai Yun anywhere!

“I am also quite irritated by that Hai Gui. If I had known he had a Bloodline detector, would I have had to run from home? NO! Let that brat come before me, I will teach him a lesson he won’t dare to forget!” Hai Yun clenched his teeth in fury.

“Do you have the confidence to beat him? You don’t even have half his cultivation level!” Xue Yi snorted. He was of course, waiting for Hai Yun to beg him for help. That way he would have an excuse to get Hai Yun to train. Right now, only Qin Cheng was training and Hai Yun hadn’t even started yet! Was this a way to get revenge? If it weren’t for that constant bloodlust hidden deep in Hai Yun’s eye, Xue Yi would have wondered if Hai Yun even had revenge in his heart.

However, one thing Xue Yi was very satisfied about was was Hai Yun’s attitude.

“I don’t need to beat him fairly. In a few days, the Plateau Empire will host a tournament for the newly awakened youth in the empire. This helps them determine the potential of the new generation each year. Although my awakening was only a month ago, I am fairly confident of beating all of those slobs who awoke after the tournament last year. If I were to register while that black robed man continues to follow me, I guarantee that Hai Gui will show up to spectate. Then, he he he…” As he spoke Hai Yun’s eyes glinted with an evil light.

You wanted to kill me for no reason before didn’t you? Well, let’s see if I die before playing you to death!
