CHAPTER 11 – THE LAST LETTER
Brother Hai… I am so… so sorry… Qian Mu killed you… and destroyed everything of yours…
She sat there. Not moving, not eating, and not sleeping. For two whole days she remained indifferent to the world, and anyone staring at her could see the skin on her cheeks wrinkling from her crying eyes, which had become so red, it was remarkable she wasn’t crying blood.
She let out not a single sound for all 48 hours. It was only when her feet began to turn green from blood shortage that her father finally forcefully moved her.
However, she did not resist. Tears came welling out of her eyes, one by one. They were so numerous she didn’t even need to blink.
“Qian Mu, father is sorry. Please say something child. Eat something.” Her father pleaded. However he only pleaded a few times, before crushing a fasting pill in her mouth. He would even pour some water into her mouth from time to time. Yet she did not even seem to notice.
Qian Mu’s father was completely overrun by guilt, but no matter how he tried to coax her, she would not react. Thus, he stopped trying, and only quietly wallowed in his self-pity.
After nearly 10 days of crying, her tears stopped. She simply had no more tears to cry. And then she finally passed out. As Qian Mu’s father watched her finally pass out, his heart shook.
However for all this time, he had still not regretted ruining the Crystal Ocean Alchemy Sect. He had only been regretting that his plan failed and he only wanted it to be successful. According to him, if he had succeeded then he could have maintained his daughter’s happiness. He still did not believe this situation was due to his greed! But rather he blamed it on his poor planning!
As turned to leave from Qian Mu’s room for the 4th time today, he finally heard her voice.
“Father, could you leave me brother Hai Yun’s last letter?” Qian Mu asked coldly. However she did not turn to look in his direction, nor did she even bother to open her eyes.
When he heard her voice, his heart was incomparably shaken. “Mu’er, are you finally over your grief. Do you need father to get you anything?” he turned and sat next to her bed while gently reaching out for his daughter’s hand.
However, just when he was about to touch her, she moved her hand away. “Father, could you leave me brother Hai Yun’s last letter?” she repeated without any fluctuation in her voice. It seemed so distant to him, and once again he regretted failing his plan.
“Of course,” he took the letter out of his sleeve and attempted to reach for her hand so he could put it in her grasp but she interrupted him.
“Just leave by the table please.” Even now, her mood did not fluctuate in the least bit.
Qian Mu’s father’s eyes became downcast as he reluctantly put the letter by her head rest before slowly getting up to walk out of the door.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
The moment his figure disappeared down the hall, Qian Mu opened her eyes and sat up. Tenderly picking up the scroll she opened it with shaky hands before beginning to read.
Qian Mu!
I have spent the last couple months analyzing all the new herbs you brought over for me. Do you remember the Nirvana root? Until a few days ago I still couldn’t figure out what function it served. But now I finally figured it out.
Thank You Qian Mu! If you hadn’t brought it to me, I might still be sitting around writing up pointless recipes. Due to this root, I was finally able to create a memory inscribing elixir! If someone uses it, then they can take all the sounds and images which constitute ones memory of a certain event and inscribe it into an object! Something which people could only do when they were dying and needed to leave behind a successor! This is all thanks to the herb you brought me, so I named it The Gift of Qian Mu!
While her eyes swept over these words her heart trembled. If she had any tears left, she might have started crying again. However even though she wanted to close the letter and hug it tightly she forced herself to continue reading. Because this was her only hope…
However even though that sounds amazing, I created something even better after combing the remaining Nirvana root with the other herbs you left me. I call it, the Efficacious Nirvana, after someone consumes it, as long as they die within 24 hours, they will be able to retain all of their memories while being reincarnated. It works in the exact same manner as The Gift of Qian Mu. However instead of storing your memories on some physical object, you can inscribe all of them directly into you very soul! So when your soul is reborn into the world, it will already have memories which it can inscribe into your brain! But the best part is, that it will let you retain all of your soul strength too!
Remember how the biggest problem with reincarnation is that you will get a new uncultivated body as well as weak soul. However if some took this pill, their soul’s strength would be retained when passing through the cycle of samsara! We tested it on a demonic beast after putting a soul cage around the preserve. Sure enough, after the beast was killed and its soul escaped, the Efficacious Nirvana let it be reborn as a new infant! It was the strangest thing ever, a Scarlet Flame Lion with the soul of a Black Earth bear was born into existence!
When you come, I will let you meet it. It truly is a wondrous elixir that defies the laws of heaven!
Yours truly,
The Youngest Divine Ranked Alchemist on the Scarlet Flame Continent – Hai Yun of the Crystal Ocean Alchemy Sect
As she saw his signature another wave of sadness engulfed her. When he had been at the grandmaster alchemist level, he had written Youngest Grandmaster Alchemist on the Scarlet Flame Continent, when he broke into the Ancestor Alchemist level, the same thing would be written, and for these last 11 letters, he had written Divine Ranked alchemist.
However, even though she was sad, she was not completely blinded by her grief. Despite being sad, she was well aware of the manner in which the Crystal Ocean Alchemy Sect operated. If there was a chance, then they would certainly pick the Divine Ranked Alchemists who had the most potential in their youth to take the Efficacious Nirvana and be reborn, in order to strike back for their revenge.
And which Divine Ranked Alchemist had the more potential than the only youth, Hai Yun! So most likely, he had been reincarnated into a new body!
Brother Hai Yun… Qian Mu is too weak to help you in this state… My father will probably try to watch me and if I ever manage to find you, he will definitely try to steal your elixir… So please accept Qian Mu… If we ever meet again… I won’t pester you, if you want to only study alchemy I won’t bother you… So you please, let Qian Mu be yours, and only yours for the next life…
And it was at this time, she set her firm resolve to concoct another Efficacious Nirvana, and to give her next life to Hai Yun. Because this much, she owed him…
