CHAPTER 27 – DARK MOON SECT’S YUE LING’ER
Within the Starry Iron Winged Plains, there are several tribes led by local shamans. Other than the Plateau Empire, which is considered a grade 4 power. Remember that the current peak powers are all considered 5th grade powers, so this Plateau Empire would be a single grade beneath them. However, unlike most 4th grade powers, the Plateau Empire is not a subsidiary power to any peak power.
Most of the world’s 4th grade powers are subordinated to some peak power. This Empire is unique in that it is not.
The key reason that it has been able to maintain its independence is because of its business. This empire, being located on a flat plain in the middle of a massive mountain range is a great place to stop for explorers and adventurers in the younger generation of various factions. So many treasures and precious materials found in the surrounding mountains are all traded in the Plateau Empire’s cities.
Many 5th grade powers have to send their younger generation to some area within this empire during the phase when they are out experiencing the world. So if any other 5th grade power were to try and take control of the Empire at that time, it would offend all the other powers who had sent key members of their younger generations there to train.
Thus, no one was willing to take over this 4th grade power at the cost of angering all the other powers. However, amongst the alliances, it would certainly hold true that the Life alliance had the greatest share of youngsters there, due its location on the Western side of the continent.
In the capital city of the Plateau Empire, the Hai clan main branch’s Hai Gui was currently strolling down the street with a few of his accomplices.
“Brother Hai, I heard that your fiancé was stolen out from under your nose by some nameless brat from the Western Sea Islands, tsk tsk tsk. How come you haven’t gone to find him yet?” a young girl around the age of 15 clucked her tongue as her words dug into Hai Gui.
When this incident was mentioned Hai Gui’s face instantly darkened. “That brat will be killed off by me in due time,” Hai Gui spoke with conviction.
“Really? But I heard you were sent here as punishment for exiling that oy who stole your fiancé. Apparently he had a divine body that had created a phenomenon that lasted an entire hour, that’s just as long as the phenomenon caused by Chang Chi Yun, the person thought to have the greatest amount of talent in the last 40,000 years!” from her expression, one could see this girl found joy in the sufferings of others. She was the current Dark Moon Sect’s Sovereign’s daughter, Yue Ling’er.
“Yue Ling’er, if you open your mouth to insult me one more time, don’t think that I really won’t dare to make a move,” Hai Gui said icily.
“Che, threatening to make a move against me. Who’s afraid of you, I thought you would never dare!” Yue Ling’er said tauntingly.
The Dark Moon Sect was the current leader of the Life alliance, and the Hai Clan was merely an unaffiliated power with no alliance. If it wasn’t because her mother, the sovereign, wanted to draw the Hai Clan into their alliance, she wouldn’t even bother wasting time with Hai Gui.
Another source of her dissatisfaction was that her mother had once tried to join the two powers by attempting to betroth her to Hai Gui. So the fact that the Hai clan had actually tried to get go after a girl with a Divine Body and didn’t even ask her mother if she was ok with her future son-in-law getting a concubine had left the entire Dark Moon sect incredibly dissatisfied.
“Who says I don’t dare!” Hai Gui roared as he drew a trident from his interspatial bag.

In response Yue Ling’er also pulled out a weapon. However it was actually a pure white lotus!
“Thrusting Tempest,” Hai Gui called out as his aura burst forward. What was surprising was that his cultivation had actually broken through to the Spirit Blood realm! This was the primary reason the clan had allowed him to go and suffer punishment in these plains alone.
His trident strike caused the air to ripple as it formed a mini cyclone and shot forwards.
“Puh, already 17 but only at the 1st level of the Spirit Blood realm. You are a humiliation to the Young masters of the Peak Powers!” Yue Ling’er sneered. Her aura at the 6th rank of the Spirit Profound realm burst out as she blew on her lotus flower.
Her seemingly gentle breath released nearly 50 Lotus petals. However the strange thing was that the lotus in her hand didn’t seem to lose any petals. They seemingly regenerated as soon as they were blown off.
As the breeze of Lotus petals met with the thrust of the trident, they gently wrapped around it and for a moment, it was as if time stopped, before immediately resuming. However the trident which had caused the very air to ripple had suddenly become redirected and was now launching towards Yue Ling’er’s side and no longer aimed at her body.
At this time the surrounding crowd had already stopped moving and surrounded the two fighters in a circle.
It was a rare spectacle for direct disciples of peak powers to suddenly get into a fight. Although this one was between two people with an age of gap of 2 years and were 14 levels apart, it was still something people would pay attention to.
Seeing Yue Ling’er, who was 14 levels below him manage to deflect his attack Hai Gui narrowed his eyes to closely inspect the lotus flower in her hand.
“That’s, a high-tier sky ranked artifact!” Hai Gui gasped. Although sky ranked artifacts weren’t rare, but in his clan only the peak figures could carry such a thing around! Artifacts in this world could be divided into 4 levels. They were Mortal Grade, Earth Grade, Sky Grade and Heaven Grade. These grades could be further divided into low-tier, mid-tier and high-tier. The trident in Hai Gui’s hand was merely a lower-tier Earth Grade Artifact!
No wonder she could deflect his attack despite having a cultivation nearly 14 realms below him!
“Do you think you can use a weapon superiority to defeat me? Just because you have a powerful weapon, doesn't make you stronger, you first need the power to fully use it!” Hai Gui sneered.
Hai Gui thrust his trident forward once more, however this time, instead of just one whirlwind tempest shooting forward, three shot towards Yue Ling’er.
In response, Yue Ling’er blew on her lotus once more, another 50 lotus petals were blown into the wind. They gently wrapped around the whirlwind furthest on her right and again time seemed to stand still, before the whirlwind was redirected and it smashed directly into the other two whirlwinds, disrupting their cyclonic wind circulation.
Seeing this seen Hai Gui remained unflustered and released another three cyclones. When they were disrupted he released two more, then three after them, then another two. This pattern consistently repeated itself, reducing the timings between the waves of cyclones to shorter and shorter time increments.
After the fifth wave Yu Ling’er was already panting, and her previously gentle breathing turned ragged as she seemed constricted in attempting to fend of the cyclones as she took steps back to increase her response time.
However Hai Gui took one step forward for each of her steps backwards, matching her pace of retreat with his advance.
Despite the crowd parting and allowing her to step back, she eventually backed into a wall. However Hai Gui continued his wave after wave of attack. This was already the twelfth wave, however he didn’t open his mouth once to take in a breath of air.
Hai Gui silently took another step forward releasing the 13 wave of cyclones. However, the moment he did so his gut instinct instantly roared for him to retreat. As an experienced warrior, how could he possibly doubt his gut instinct, so without any hesitation he leapt backwards, however it was too late.
Yue Ling’er’s previously rapid breathing disappeared as she grinned fiendishly. The place where Hai Gui had stepped onto was where she had originally started off. And during the fight, she had planted a lotus root in that spot. Each time she blew out her 50 lotus petals, 49 would be used to redirect Hai Gui’s attacks, but a single petal would gently place itself over that root. Eventually, a small 13 leaved lotus had formed under the earth. And the moment Hai Gui stepped over it, she had detonated it.
With a tremendous blast, a surge of frosty energy burst out of the ground. It was like the surrounding crowd had suddenly been thrown into a snow storm. Hai Gui on the other hand felt like he had been thrown into the center of a blizzard as his muscles turned stiff and veins bulged out while simultaneously the shockwave of the explosion hit him like an earthquake.
In the back of his throat, he tasted a bit of salt, but despite his strong willpower, he was unable to stop himself from spitting up blood at the scene. His body shuddered as he fell flat on his face.
