Chapter 32: Desire
We woke up bright and early to finish off this quest as quickly as possible. I tested the crystal I had obtained from Angil and when I put energy into the crystal it seemed to glow. Emi and I took turns putting a fair amount of energy and that seemed to let it sustain itself for a while. So we gave it to Foxy and proceeded into the cave. Emi and I switched on our Magic Eyes and we were greeted by over a dozen energy signatures from the Spiders.
We seemed to have tripped the warning alarm they had set up and they immediately started to converge on us. Emi and I took defensive stances and Foxy took a rogue-like stance which was very low. She immediately sprung forward and attacked two of the spiders. The smaller of the two fell down without much of a fight but the other one seemed to be injured but still alive. It counterattacked and tried to hit Foxy. I blocked it with Dark and countered with Light killing him instantly
One of the smaller more agile spiders on the right of me tried to attack me in the middle of my battle with the spider. Emi stabbed right in the head and it did not move after. Three down a fair few more to go. In the mean time Foxy had flanked around the spiders and had hit a few in their weak spot in their abdomen. These proved to be effective hits as another two were killed. The spiders retreated and reformed their structure on a more narrow part of the cave. This stopped us from flanking them as easily and made it harder to kill them.
The spiders at the back of the first line spit some type of viscous green liquid. A part of it went onto Emi it seemed to be some sort of acid, it burned through part of Emi’s clothing. She quickly ripped it off but seemed to lose her stance as she was preoccupied with the acid. One of the spiders tried to hit her but Foxy was too quick and chopped the legs of the spider clean off. As it fell to the ground Foxy finished the job with a downward stab from her daggers.
At the same moment a couple of the same sized spiders attacked me from both sides as I was all alone. I parried knocked one of the off balance and then quickly turned to face the other one on my other flank. I parried and slashed with Dark but the spider did not die. I then slashed right through the spider with Light as it was recovering from the first hit. It seemed that Light had some sort of effect on the spiders as I could hear an audible scream and a burning smell. Perhaps Light’s effect was to be more effective against those of the night while Dark perhaps had the opposite ability.
We had so far killed about half their number. They seemed to grow scared for us and retreated but then a loud screech spread throughout the cave. A spider three times the size of any of the others came out. She was the color of Cherry with dark line all over her body. This I guess was the queen, she had intricate marking and the other spiders were either in awe or fear of her. They immediately tried to go on the offensive. But their numbers were unstructured and lacked teamwork. Foxy hit the first few and Emi parried the next while I struck down with my swords. We followed this pattern until their numbers thinned out. Soon it was just the Queen and her two remaining larger minions.

The two minion who were the largest of the bunch (excluding the queen) converged on us. They both would have made a large war horse look small. I tried to strike at one of the legs but I was unable to cut completely through. While I had kept them occupied Foxy had tried to go round the back and stab them at their abdomens but they ejected the same liquid as before and rebuffed her attacks. Emi stabbed one of them in the head but their heads were much harder than before.
We returned to defensive stances and I tried to think of a way through this battle. I instinctively looked at my sword and remembered Angil’s words “Trust my instinct” My eyes were drawn to my blades. I started focusing on them and as I did I felt Light shine brightly and Dark have this aura that seemed to almost consume the darkness.
I shouted at Emi, “Pour energy into your blades.” She did the same her swords transformed too. One into a flaming scorching blade while the other was suddenly covered in ice. Foxy glanced over amazed at the change. But as she did one of the larger spiders took their opportunity. I lunged over to try and block the attack from the spider. My sword Light glanced the spider and it immediately seemed to engulf the spider in a light. The spider screamed and disappeared into a nothingness.
Emi seeing my strike on the spider decided to test her own might. She struck the remaining minion spider and it immediately froze. She then used Fire and that dealt the finishing blow on the spider. Now it was only us and the Queen spider.
My sword Dark seemed to have a mind of its own. I felt its wishes to devour the monster in front of us. It was an unsettling feeling, it was neither evil nor good but rather a wish to eat. I looked at Emi and Foxy and nodded. They knew I wanted them to cause a diversion. They both started flanking the monster and the Queen had no idea which way to look with all the motion. I ran at the Queen directly and pushed off its leg and jumped up onto it’s body. Dark seemed to desire eliminating the Queen so plunged it into the Queen’s bright red abdomen. I did not go all the way through but from the wound a blackness spread throughout the Queen’s body it screamed for help but none would be able to save it. The black was unstoppable until it covered her entire body and then I felt a sudden increase of energy into my body. The only way to describe it was unholy. The energy was uncontrollable and I fell down into the darkness.
