Chapter 26: Where the $!#% Are We?

I soon caught up to the conversation that I had missed which had moved on from questions about Emi’s animal to safety concerns and afterwards we returned back to the Physical World. It was a rather an eye opening experienced that made me think perhaps that there were different worlds linked to the same one. Like what I had read in one of the books in my previous life, similar but different worlds occurring in the same time space but we were unable to see them. Perhaps the Magic World was a similar world that existed in the same plane but we merely treated it as an extension of our own. It was my current hypothesis that had no base in actual evidence but I still had this strong gut feeling that I was right. I wonder what the God I knew would say about my thoughts…

“Do you have anymore questions?” Angil asked.

Perhaps this was the best time to ask it, “What is luck?”

Angil was silent for a moment and then answered, “Luck is perhaps the least understood of the common stats that everyone has.  For example Strength is conclusively the power that an individual has and Endurance, the stamina that a person has, however has many modifiers that affect it, including, the weight, height, age of a person. Luck on the other hand seems to affect all other stats, to what degree…no one knows, in what way…no one knows. I don’t even know how to increase luck…It’s a mysterious one that perhaps my master would know but I don’t even know where is or if he is still even alive. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.”

“Thanks for trying…” I guess from that it affects everything but at the same time no one knows to what degree… I had a gut feeling it changed my life in different ways but no concrete evidence. I had other questions like what the Heroic stat was but I wasp pretty sure I would receive a similar answer. I guess I would have to find it on my own or perhaps somehow try and pry an answer away from the god who had given my a second chance. But I doubted my chances as he was far more adept at avoiding answers than I was at asking question.

“Any other questions?” he asked.

Emi thought for a second, “Where are we?”

It had been an obvious question that I hadn’t even thought of to ask but nonetheless one that we really should have asked earlier. I smiled at my lack of foresight.

If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.

Angil thought for a second and smiled and winked, “Somewhere…”

It was obvious he wasn’t going to answer properly so we dropped it.

“How do we go back then? We had traveled here in a ring which seemed to have disappeared when we arrived.”

“That’s easy, he answered, “I’ll give you two a ring each that will allow you to onetime travel back to where you came from.”

“Thanks. How do we use it?” Emi asked.

“Just think of the feeling of wanting to go back and you shall. You best be going now as your time will be soon up.”

I held hands and we both looked into each others eyes and thought of going back, we started to disappear different from how we had gotten here. It was more us turning invisible than the severe warp speed that had gotten us to Angil’s place.

As we were about to disappear I thought of one last question, “Who are you?”

He twinkled and sparkled mysteriously, “I am Angil.”

And with that I no longer saw him instead I was greeted by the overwhelming stench of manure as we appeared back in the alleyway. We seemed to have picked the place where the manure was thrown to turn into fertilizer. Lucky us…

We tiredly treaded our way back to the to the lodging and were greeted by Foxy who seemed rather worn out too. I decided not to probe what she had done especially in front of Emi and anyway she seemed even more worn out than we were. I let Emi have a bath first as it seemed she could stand the smell less than I did. I stood outside of the room to prevent the stench of poop from lingering in our room. I got a few stares and people holding their nose as they walked past me but I tried to ignore them as I best I could.

After what seemed like an age Emi opened the door and I was greeted by a relived face who had that just got of the shower hair look that I and males all around the world would be happy to see. I tried to play it cool but I gawked a little I must admit. Her clothes clung to her body rather tightly and I admired her curves for a second, they seemed to enhance a certain “feature” of her body. But I was most drawn to her face which seemed glowing and almost angelic as compared to stench that I seemed to have from the manure. Emi smiled and let me in and I went into the bath for a long while after that.
