Chapter 29: Regroup
I breathed a sigh a relief after getting out of the cave, “Alright then lets start making a plan.”
Emi perhaps more sensitive interjected, “Why don’t we go back to town and regroup there, we didn’t bring any food so it would be best to get something in ourselves before coming up with a plan.”
Foxy nodded in agreement still shaken by her experience in the cave. I was inclined to agree especially with Foxy in this state.
“Yeah that would be a better idea.” I agreed.
We started to make our way back to the town to plan and sort out the information we had gained from our exploration into the spider infested cave. It would be good to have some food and unwind a bit.
Added to which it would be far more productive to get Foxy to 100% than have her do a half hearted attempt at fighting. She could get hurt or even worse perhaps die. That produced a rather bad taste in my mouth which surprised me as I had not known her for that long. I guess I was starting to care for her now? I had really thought before that I had only cared for Emi but I guess I was starting to open up.
“So Clover what do you think?” Emi asked.
“Huh about what?” Completely oblivious to what the flow of conversation had been
“About where do you think we should eat.”
“I don’t know, why don’t you choose?”
“God why can’t you be more decisive…” Emi sighed and together with Foxy decided on a small café that was just off the main street. It had a classic Parisian café feel that I had read about in some of the books in my previous life. It was an interesting experiencing what I had read about in books.
It was better yet improved with the two beauties who were sitting at the table. However Foxy and Emi were two different types of beauties both immensely appealing, Emi was the more outgoing beauty, the one who’s friendly and makes you feel at home but has the immense curves that any model would be envious to have, her smile always radiated a warm glow and once you were finished with that there was much more to see... Foxy on the other hand seemed like the type that you wanted to care about, she seemed so delicate, so cute…would be the best way to describe it. Especially with the foxy ears and tails that made her infinitely more appealing, especially to a certain niche who loved that sort of thing.
“Listen Clover! Why aren’t you paying attention?” Emi intruded through my rather long tandem thought.
“Oh sorry I just had a few things on my mind…”
“What were you thinking about?”
“Nothing…” I definitely couldn’t say what I had been thinking about…though I had actually forgotten what I had been thinking about. It was probably not anything important…
“Okay then…Anyway back on topic what do you want to eat?”
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
“I don’t know what do you think looks good?”
“Sigh…why don’t we get the lunch meals. They seem good value. You get a drink too. What do you want Foxy?”
“Lunch A sounds good Fish and Potatoes with summer vegetables.” Replied Foxy emotionlessly
“Why can’t you be more like Foxy sometimes.” Said Emi in a rather low undertone that I barely caught. I raised an eyebrow but my intuition said this was definitely not the time to ask about it.
I peered at the lunch menu and picked one that sounded nice
“I’ll have Lunch D then, noodles with a cream sauce.” It reminded me of home a bit and gave me a bit of a homesick feeling from my past life but it soon past. Life I felt was better this way.
We finished ordering and got onto discussing tactics for the cave.
“What do you think we should do in terms of setup for battling?” I asked curious about what their opinions on the matter were.
“I don’t really know about those things, actually Foxy what fighting style do you fight with? It’s completely different from what Clover and I do.”
“Ah that’s the lightning style I learnt from an old friend,” Foxy replied rather somberly. I couldn’t work out if it was due to her recent ordeal or something in her past.
I ignored it, “Okay then so you are the speedy type…I guess our formation should be you striking and then us defending for you while you deal out damage to the spiders.”
Foxy nodded rather slowly.
“Don’t worry,” I tried to reassure her by smiling, “We’ll cover you.”
Emi hugged Foxy and said, “You know we care about you right?
Foxy warmed up a bit and returned the hug, “Yeah I care about you. I mean you guys.” She blushed at the second statement.
“Anyway we should get back on topic, you’ll attack the spiders while we defend and counter with our dual swords. Does that sound okay?” I interjected.
“Yeah” Foxy nodded and smiled obviously happy.
“Now we also need to figure out a way to illuminate in the darkness. I think that was our major problem. If we are able to see them the spiders shouldn’t be so much of a problem.”
“Actually, I was curious about that what was the glowing eyes thing you guys had?” Foxy asked
“Ah we are magicians so we used it to see in the dark.” I didn’t want to give away specifics as I didn’t know them myself but it seemed that we needed to find out more about magic.
“So why don’t you use that?
“That is a good idea,” Emi nodded her head and looking towards me for confirmation, “But that still doesn’t answer how you will see in the dark. We need some way to allow you to see too.”
“Oh okay then we’ll need to find a way to light up the darkness but still have my hands free then.” Foxy seemed to be recovering and was a little more upbeat. Well less emotionless for her.
We finished our meal fairly quickly and went around the town to search for the answer to our problems.
