Article 14: New Illusion for Summoned Brooms

A successful test has been made of a new spell that is set to make Wendaleen the two-hundred-year old Scots nature witch the fortune she has always wanted.

For the past lunar month, the spritely nature witch, has been travelling all over the country and summoning her broom to her side without the everyday folk even noticing the flying stick,

There had been various setbacks but not from the be-spelled broom, as Wendaleen, being a nature witch, likes to travel naked when possible.

At first she agreed to wear a robe but after it got caught in the doors of the Inverness to Edinburgh train and pulled away from her body to reveal nothing underneath she enjoyed the horrified reaction too much to want to replace the robe around her body once it was released from the doors at the next station.

Sixteen-year old Rory McDunnit kept re-iterating that he had tried to open the doors or simply rip it free for the whole fifteen minutes it took to the next station.

He was shaking and twitchy when interviewed.

‘I didn’t want to see a naked body,’ he protested shakily, ‘especially an old one but she just posed against the internal wall. I was trying to free her cape and she just stood there!’

‘I told him he should enjoy the view,’ Wendaleen said when asked about the incident later.

It was only after she was told that the spell test would have to be cancelled if she was arrested that Wendaleen agreed to wear the robe again.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

This didn’t stop the robe gaping at Newcastle Station, or billowing enough to show a tidy but wrinkled rear end at York. The broom both day and night continued at both high and low altitudes to be seen as a large modern drone.

At Peterborough the Warlock Homeguard managed to encourage Wendaleen into proper clothes with a lock spell, while she spouted sixteen different curses in indignation. With the spell inventing genius that she is she rapidly unravelled the lock spell.

At King’s Cross the sight of the long internal walks of the underground trains was too much temptation and Wendaleen somehow managed to strip and stroll from one end to the other on the Hammersmith & City line. Along the way she propositioned five mature gentlemen, sidled up to three younger men asking for apples and tried to encourage a few mature women to uncover. She was eventually stopped by a Nature warlock who lived near Paddington station who was only too happy to speak to a Wiccan of the countryside about the difficulties of practicing natural witchcraft in an urban area.

Taken with Mistcroft, Wendaleen dressed and he joined her on her journey around Britain to see if the broom could travel as a misrepresented drone over all terrain and for a full month.

There were few reports of the drone in the countryside even when passing close to farmsteads as it was moving quite fast but there were more complaints about the ‘drone’ in urban areas. Since the spell held up and the broom was consistently mistaken for a modern drone rather than a flying broom the spell testers have declared it stable and it has been released for general use.

The spell is called the Droneaway and is copy righted to Wendaleen for the next three-hundred years. Wendaleen we hear is happy to have finally returned to nature in the highlands at her remote cabin, and there are rumours that Mistcroft has joined her for an education in the finer nature arts. Wendaleen is already working on her next new spell although she won’t say what it is.

Quothe, the raven.
