Chapter 24: The Sorcerer

General Boris runs quickly toward where Megan is. He finally finds the injured girl. He runs closer to her. Megan moans in pain and pants rapidly. He notices that two toy dogs are guarding her. Timmy’s black eyes turn toward General Boris.

Timmy scratches his head. “Who is he?” asks Timmy.

Spotty scrunches her shoulders. General Boris runs up to Megan, Timmy, and Spotty. One of the black knights followed Boris. He hides behind a large rock and is eves-dropping. General Boris notices that Megan seems a bit pale.

He strokes his right hand onto Megan’s brow. “Is this girl human?” General Boris asks Timmy.

Timmy runs in front of Megan and growls at General Boris. “Who are you?” asks Timmy.

General Boris moves his hand away. “I am General Boris. General of the dark knights. I am from the kingdom of Malvalora. Do you know a Dragon named Daniel Mark Tony?” the General asks Timmy.

Timmy nods.

General Boris nods back. “He is safe in the dungeon,” he says.

Spotty chuckles. It seems like she does not believe a single word that General Boris just said.

“Ha! Safe? Is that what you call safe?” asks Spotty.

General Boris turns to Spotty. “As long as he is in the dungeon he is safe. The other black knights would have killed him,” he answers.

General Boris picks up Megan and carries her in his arms. Timmy and Spotty feel nervous when they see him pick her up.

“Come. I know someone who can help her,” says General Boris.

General Boris runs towards his faraway kingdom. Timmy follows him. Spotty grabs Timmy’s left ear to stop him. “Wait! I don’t trust him,” whispers Spotty.

“Do we have a choice?” asks Timmy.

Spotty does not answer Timmy. General Boris stops running to wait for Timmy and Spotty. Timmy and Spotty run to catch up with him. They follow him to the walls of Malvalora.

The black Knight who was eves-dropping runs in a different direction to Malvalora, to avoid being spotted by General Boris. Timmy, Spotty, and General Boris, with Megan in his arms, make it to the doors of Malvalora.

“Open the doors!” shouts General Boris.

There is a black knight on top of the walls.

He waves his right hand. “Yes sir!” he shouts.

The black knight pulls a lever, the lever pulls the chains, and the chains slowly open the doors. Timmy, Spotty, and General Boris, with Megan in his arms, enter Malvalora.

General Boris sees two knights guarding the dungeon.

I am still in the dungeon. My neck feels a bit sore, but not too bad because my Dragon scales are very hard and protect me from metal. The only thing that can pierce my Dragon scales is something very sharp or a hot sword. My eyes are shut. I am thinking about my mom and dad. I am thinking about the time when the car accident injured my dad. I feel emotional knots inside me, but I try to not let out any tears.

Timmy runs to the dungeon. “Daniel!” shouts Timmy.

The two guards move their arrows in front of Timmy.

“Hey what’s the big idea?!” shouts Timmy.

General Boris pants as he runs to the dungeon. “Point your arrows at the Dragon! He might escape you fools!” he shouts.

One of the knights shakes his head. “But sir the Dragon is asleep,” says the knight.

General Boris looks at me. I open my eyes and wink my right eye at him then close my eyes again. General Boris turns to the two black knights. “You knight.” General Boris passes Megan to the knight. “Take this girl and these toys to my home and give the girl some of our medicine. Her life is in danger. The Toys told me that a Scorpiono stung her,” he orders.

The knight takes Megan from General Boris. “Yes sir, but what about the dragon?” asks the knight.

General Boris stands by the door of the dungeon and stares at me.

“I will watch him. If he tries anything I will shoot him,” he answers.

Spotty and Timmy quietly growl at General Boris. He looks down at the two toy dogs, shooshes them both, and winks. The knight nods and carries Megan away from the dungeon. Timmy and Spotty follow him.

The knight with Megan in his arms arrives at Boris’s home. The wood house is black because it is burnt. It has a stone chimney. The knight enters the house and sees a burnt dresser, tables, and bed. The black knight gently puts Megan on the bed. Timmy and Spotty sit by Megan on the bed.

“I will get our Sorcerer to heal her. Don’t worry little ones, she’s in good hands,” says the knight.

Timmy glares at the knight as the knight runs out of the house.

“I don’t trust this place,” says Timmy.

Spotty rolls her eyes. “You mean I don’t like this place?” corrects Spotty.

Timmy nods. “Whatever, you know what I mean. These black knights put Daniel in their dungeon and I have a strong feeling that we should leave, like right now,” says Timmy.

Spotty nods. “I know, I don’t feel safe either, but this Sorcerer might be our only hope to heal Megan and there is not another Sorcerer nearby. This Sorcerer, even though we have a bad feeling about him, we have no choice but to wait,” says Spotty.

Timmy stutters then calms his nerves. “All right, but if anyone hurts our Earthling friends, I will fart in their faces and make them smell like Dragon doo doo,” says Timmy.

The knight runs up a tower to find the Sorcerer. He sees the Sorcerer standing by the window. The Sorcerer stares down at General Boris’s house. The Sorcerer has a long grey beard that goes down to his feet, he has long grey hair, and he wears a long blue robe. The Sorcerer turns to the black knight and grins. He seems to know why the black knight has come for him.

“Do we have a female?” asks the old Sorcerer.

The knight nods.

“Good. How is she?” asks the Sorcerer.

“Follow me,” says the knight.

The knight leads the Sorcerer out of the tower and into General Boris’s home.

“She got stung by a Scorpiono,” says the knight.

The Sorcerer walks to Megan on the bed. The Sorcerer rolls up his sleeves and puts his right hand on Megan’s head, then begins to whisper. Timmy and Spotty stand by Megan’s head and watch the Sorcerer.

General Boris unlocks the cage that I am in and walks up to me.

It is cold in the dungeon.

General Boris sniffs and wipes his nose. “I will be able to get you out of here at night when the guards are asleep. I will make sure of that by serving them wine. They love wine. Once they are drunk and asleep you can take your female and your dogs, and get out of here tonight,” he says.

I growl at General Boris.

He backs away from me. “What did I say?” he asks.

“I’m not sure I can trust you,” I say cautiously.

I turn away from General Boris. He sighs, put his left hand on my right shoulder, and stares at me.

“I just saved your life. Those men would have killed you. You have to trust me,” he answers.

I have no choice but to trust him, Megan’s life might depend on it. I let out a big sigh.

“All right, but tell me what happened here, you owe me that,” I say.

General Boris nods. “I can’t, not now. Not while the guards are here. They don’t like to hear about our bad history. I’ll tell you tonight when I set you free,” he says.

I have no choice but to wait until nighttime.

Back in Boris’s house, the Sorcerer finally finishes his spell to cure Megan. Her pale skin slowly changes back into her normal tan color. Her breathing sounds normal. The Sorcerer puts his hands together and bows to Megan. Megan gasps for air and opens her eyes slowly. At first, her eyesight is a little fuzzy, and then it slowly clears.

She sees the Sorcerer staring and smiling at her. “You are well at last,” says the Sorcerer.

Megan rubs her head. “Where am I?” she asks.

“You’re safe from any evil Dragons,” answers the Sorcerer.

Megan gasps and sits up on the bed. Timmy and Spotty both hug Megan’s legs. They are so happy to see her alive and well.

“Dragon,” whispers Megan. “Dragon!” she shouts. “Where’s Daniel?” she asks.

The Sorcerer puts his right hand on Megan’s shoulders to calm her down. Megan tries to resist the power that she is feeling from the Sorcerer. Megan falls asleep on the bed again. The Sorcerer removes his hand from Megan’s shoulders.

“She will be fine. She just needs to rest some more,” says the Sorcerer.

Timmy and Spotty try to wake up Megan by patting her head. The Sorcerer walks out of the room. The knight stares at Megan and sighs.

“Sorcerer?” asks the knight.

The Sorcerer turns his head to the knight. “Yes?” asks the Sorcerer.

“W-what do we do when the Dark Dragon comes again?” stutters the knight.

The Sorcerer points at Megan. The knight gasps and turns back to the Sorcerer.

“But sir, this is the last female. Where are we going to find another one?” asks the knight.

The Sorcerer slowly turns his head to the knight and grins. “Trust me, we won’t need any more females after this one.” The Sorcerer sounds like he knows something that the other knights do not.

The knight stares at Megan. “Sir?” asks the knight.

“Yes?” asks the Sorcerer.

“I’m curious, do you know this girl?” asks the knight.

The Sorcerer shakes his head and walks out of the house. The Sorcerer chuckles evilly as he continues to walk away.

The cold night makes me shake and shiver. I am breathing heavily and hot breath comes out of my mouth. A knight is still watching me with his eyes wide open. His eyes slowly begin to close and he falls asleep and drops the keys. The guard is now fast asleep.

I have to think of a way to break the shackles around my neck from the stone-cold wall. I try struggling but it is no use. I try biting but that doesn’t seem to work either. I see the guard’s keys lying on the floor by the bars. I stretch out my long tail to grab the keys. I cannot reach them. The guard mutters in his sleep and then stops.

I sigh and stretch out again. The tip of my tail slides through the key rings. I finally have them. I put the keys in the shackles to unlock them. I gently set the shackles on the ground. I hover over the cell door and unlock it. I open the door and it makes a squeaky noise. The noise is loud but it doesn’t wake up the knight. I notice a wooden jug of purple wine. I assume that Boris gave the knight the jug. I see three more knights. I sigh and sneak behind a wall to hide from them. I see General Boris walk up to them and give them each a jug of wine. “Have these refreshments, you’ve earned them,” he says to the knights.

The three knights drink the wine and fall right to sleep.

General Boris notices me behind the wall. “Come on,” he whispers.

I walk to him.

He points at his house where they took Megan. “Your friend is in there safe and sound,” he says.

I nod and slowly walk to the house. I enter the house and I notice Megan lying on the bed and a knight standing by her with his back toward me. I quietly climb to the ceiling with my Dragon claws. I am over the knight. My claws cannot hang on to the ceiling any longer. They begin to slip. The knight walks away from the bed. I fall on the right side of the bed and then quickly hide under it. The knight heard my fall. He grasps his sword and turns around.

“Who’s there?” asks the knight.

I try to be quiet under the bed. I feel a tickle on my left foot. I turn around to see who is tickling me. “Cut it out,” I whisper.

I do not see anybody because my tail is in the way. I move my tail and see the two Toy dogs.

“Spotty and Timmy?” I ask.

“Yeah,” says Spotty.

“Duh,” says Timmy.

“Shh,” I shoosh them.

The knight slowly walks to the bed. His sword is right in front of my face. I see the tip of it and how sharp it is. I shake my head and look away.

Timmy notices me shutting my eyes. “Are you ok?” asks Timmy.

I open my eyes, gulp, and nod.

Timmy nods back and then gasps a little. “Ok, I have a plan. I will use my fart to knock the knight out,” says Timmy.

Spotty has a grossed out look on her face. “Ew,” she shutters.

Timmy rolls his eyes at Spotty. “You have a better idea?” asks Timmy.

Spotty shakes her head. Timmy slowly crawls out from under the bed. He stands right in front of the knight. He looks up and sees the knight looking around the bed. The knight bends down and grabs the bed sheet. I gasp and so does Spotty. Timmy climbs on the knight’s leg. The knight tries to shake off Timmy but Timmy keeps holding onto his leg. Timmy climbs up the knight’s leg and up to his head.

“Get off!” shouts the knight.

Timmy farts rights in front of the knight’s face. The knight smells the awful fart. He faints and falls to the ground. I crawl out from under the bed and turn to Megan. Her face doesn’t look pale anymore. Her eyes are shut but she is breathing normally as if she were asleep.

I smile. “She is cured,” I say.

Timmy gets off of the knight’s head and jumps onto my right shoulder. Spotty crawls out from under the bed and jumps onto my other shoulder. They both stare at Megan and sigh in relief.

“Whew. At least she is ok,” says Spotty.

I gently shake Megan’s shoulders and whisper to her. “Megan, can you hear me?” I ask.

She does not answer me. She just lies there. I put my hand on her head. Her head feels fine. Suddenly I hear the door opening behind me.

“Daniel, she is in a deep sleep,” says an old voice behind me.

Timmy and Spotty gasp and turn around. I turn around to see who is talking. The Sorcerer stands in front of the doorway. He has six knights with crossbows aimed at me. Timmy and Spotty growl and bark at the six knights. One of the knights has a stick of fire. Timmy and Spotty both scream and run back to me. “Fire,” spotty whimpers.

Timmy shakes and grabs my Dragon tail. “We hate fire!” shouts Timmy.

I think that they should have mentioned that earlier. The Sorcerer stares at me with a grin. I stare back at him with an angry face.

My fists shake in anger. “What did you do to her?” I ask.

The Sorcerer spreads out his hands. “I cured her, so thank you very much,” he answers.

I growl in anger. I pick up Megan and hold her in my arms. The Sorcerer snaps his fingers. All of the knights fire their arrows at me. Timmy and Spotty scream and lay flat on the floor. Six arrows are flying toward me, I do not panic. I quickly put Megan down on the bed then I grab the first arrow with my left claw. Then I grab the second arrow. I put my claws together to grab the third arrow. The third arrow barely touches my Dragon belly. The other three arrows keep on flying towards me. I smile because I feel confident. I bite the fourth arrow. Then I dodge the fifth and sixth arrows. The knights begin to look very scared because I stopped the arrows that they just shot at me.

I let out a growl. “Come on, bring it on,” I smile.

Timmy and Spotty gasp when they see me dodging the arrows.

“Wow,” says Spotty.

“Cool,” says Timmy.

I wink at them. The Sorcerer claps his hands. He seems rather impressed. “Impressive. Very impressive,” says the Sorcerer.

I turn around and pick up Megan again.

“Now if you will excuse me,” I say to the Sorcerer.

Spotty and Timmy hop on my shoulders and wave their tiny paws at the Sorcerer.

“Yes, we must be going now,” says Spotty.

“And don’t even think about firing more arrows at me. Because I will dodge them and they won’t hit me,” I say.

I walk towards a window to escape. The Sorcerer chuckles evilly and snaps his fingers. Megan gasps for air then she slips out of my arms and falls to the ground. She screams very loudly. It sounds like she is hurt and in pain.

“Megan! What’s wrong?” I ask.

Megan cannot answer me. She just continues screaming in pain. I turn to the Sorcerer and growl at him. “What are you doing to her?” I ask.

I walk towards the Sorcerer and I’m about to strike him with my right Dragon claw. The Sorcerer grabs my claw and twists my right arm behind my back. He turns me around and he holds a knife to my back. My left claw grabs the Sorcerer's arm that holds the knife. I grunt as I try to keep the knife away from me.

The Sorcerer whispers in my ear. “Duel with me then she lives,” he says.

“Why should I?” I ask.

I feel the knife pressing against my back. “It seems that you don’t have a choice. Duel with me and she will live,” answers the Sorcerer.

I turn to Megan and I see her suffering. She continues screaming in pain. I sigh and make up my mind.

“Ok. Just stop hurting her,” I say.

The Sorcerer snaps his fingers and Megan stops screaming. She pants very hard.
