Megan feels very exhausted and her legs are sore from running. She feels guilty for being angry at Daniel before she left. Luckily Spotty talked her into going back. Megan waves her hands in front of her face and squints her eyes a bit. It’s hard to see anything with the thick mist everywhere. “I can’t see a thing,” says Megan.
Spotty leaps onto Megan’s right shoulder. “Daniel is here, somewhere,” says Spotty.
Megan looks down and sees a wide dark hole in the ground in front of her. “Or he could be in there.” Megan points.
Spotty looks down at the hole. Spotty gasps and covers her mouth. Megan feels Spotty shaking. “What’s down there?” asks Megan.
Spotty gulps. “Scorpionos,” answers Spotty.
“What are Scorpionos?” asks Megan.
“Only the book will explain what they are. I can’t remember. Let’s just say that you don’t want to go down that hole,” says Spotty.
Megan thinks for a moment and she remembers the book. “Does the book have brown words that say The Adventure Door Book?” asks Megan.
Spotty seems surprised when Megan says those words. “You’ve seen it?” asks Spotty.
Megan nods. “Daniel has it, Veeule gave it to him. He says that it belongs to Daniel. Well, he didn’t say who it belongs to. He told Daniel to look at his reflection in the water to find the owner. He would see his reflection,” says Megan.
“What if he has it in those tunnels?” asks Spotty.
Megan and Spotty both stare down at the wide dark hole. Spotty holds on to the left side of Megan’s neck. She starts to whimper like a scared little Chihuahua.
Spotty shakes like she’s really cold, but she’s terrified. “Megan, whoever goes down there will die. There are these giant insects and they do not like intruders. So they sting them with their sharp poky stingers,” whimpers Spotty.
Megan sighs and grabs Spotty off her left shoulder. Megan wipes the tears off Spotty’s face.
Megan smiles proudly. “If you want to, you can wait up here while I do down there to find Daniel and Timmy,” says Megan.
Megan pulls a small blue flashlight and a blue fire lighter out of her backpack. Megan puts the fire lighter in Spotty’s paws. “This is a fire lighter,” says Megan.
“Eeeeeeek!” Spotty screeches after Megan says the word fire.
Spotty drops the fire lighter. “We toys don’t like fire. It burns us.” Spotty shakes.
Megan gives Spotty her small blue flashlight. “This is a flashlight. It might be better for you,” says Megan.
Spotty gasps as she stares at the flashlight. She hugs it as if she loves it already. Megan notices that Spotty’s a little jumpy when it comes to new things or things that have to do with the word fire.
“You’ve never seen a flashlight before have you?” She asks her.
Spotty continues hugging the flashlight. “I have heard stories about lights coming out of strange cups, but I never thought that I would see one,” chuckles Spotty.
Megan barely smiles, then she grabs her fire lighter and begins to crawl down the hole.
“I am going to find Daniel and Timmy. I want you to stay up here. I will look for two hours. If I have not found them in two hours then flick that light right down the hole, then I will come up here and we will think of another plan. Ok?” asks Megan to Spotty.
Spotty sniffs and nods. Megan nods back at her. Megan begins climbing down the hole. Step by step she carefully climbs. She grabs branches to keep them from falling. It seems like a long way down to the bottom. Megan sighs and continues to climb down.
She is almost to the ground. A branch that Megan is griping snaps off the wall. Megan gasps and falls down the dark hole.
Meanwhile Spotty is pacing around the hole. Something catches her eye. She sees something very familiar. It looks like a book, a big book with brown words on it. Spotty gasps and runs to the book. The book that she finds is the book from Veeule.
“Oh no! If Megan could have seen this book, she would know about the Scorpionos.” Spotty hits the book.
She quickly grabs it with her small paws. She drags it to the hole that Megan went in. She pants as she drags the book. Finally, she makes it to the hole. “Megan!” Spotty calls, but no answer.
Spotty looks down the dark hole and sees nothing except blackness. Megan lies on the ground. She cannot move. The fall knocked her out.
Spotty takes a big breath. “Megan!” she shouts.
Megan hears her name being called. She grunts and slowly gets up. “I’m ok. Ow!” Megan rubs her head. “Ok maybe not! I sprained my right ankle!” shouts Megan to Spotty.
Spotty gasps and begins to walk down the hole, but Megan stops her.
“No don’t come down here! Spotty, stick to the plan!” shouts Megan.
Spotty sighs and walks back up to the ground. Spotty sits down by the hole. Then she remembers something, the book. Spotty pushes the book and slides it down the hole. The book drop on Megan’s head and then lands on the floor. “Ow! Spotty watch it!” shouts Megan.
Megan looks down and sees the book in front of her. She chuckles, grabs the book, and looks up at Spotty.
“Thanks, Spotty, now stay up there and wait for me for at least an hour,” says Megan.
Megan runs into the tunnels. Spotty waits for Megan by the dark hole.
I continue to search for the old man. I take a couple of rights, a couple of lefts, and ups and downs. But still, there is no sign of the old man. I pant because I feel very tired. I sit down to rest.
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
“Oh come on Daniel you can do it! You can find the old man!” I say to myself.
I hear something in the dark tunnels. It sounds like big bugs crawling. I get up and look around the tunnels. The sound is coming from everywhere. I don’t know what to do.
I start to panic. “W-where is it coming from?” I mutter.
I close my eyes and put my hands together. I inhale and exhale repeatedly.
“Concentrate. Find the source of the sound. Use your Dragon senses,” I whisper.
I can hear everything in the tunnels. The sound of the Scorpionos is in the walls. I sniff to sense any human flesh, but I only smell rotting skeletons. I cannot hear any human feet in the tunnels. Not a single one. That only means one thing, the old man is not here. I sit down and lower my head.
I shake my head. “He is not in here. I can’t hear the old man, only the Scorpionos,” I say.
Then I hear a voice in the tunnels.
I raise my head. “Hello,” shouts the voice.
The voice sounds familiar. It sounds like a girl. “Megan!” I run down a tunnel.
“Hello!” shouts Megan.
I cannot see in the dark tunnel. I blow out a blue fireball and it hovers over my hands. The fireball lights my way through the dark tunnels.
I keep my eyes in front of me. “Megan, follow the blue fire light!” I shout.
There is no response from Megan. Just utter silence. “Can you see the firelight?” I ask.
Still no answer. I am too busy to notice anything else in the tunnels. I almost fall down another dark hole. I hover over it and look down. I hover down the dark hole and into another room.
The room is round with no corners. The ceiling looks like it is at least seven feet tall. I look around the room and I see no more tunnels anywhere. I notice writings on the walls. They seem very familiar to me. I blow out another fireball to make it brighter so I can see in the room.
“These markings look like the ones that are all over Grizzlyon’s Bear body and the ones we saw in that awful storm,” I say.
I hear a banging noise. I look around to see where the noise is coming from. I do not see anything moving. “Ah, forget it,” I say to calm myself.
The room begins to shake. The ceiling begins to lower very slowly. My eyes widen in shock. The ceiling begins to close the exit hole. I hover towards the hole as it is closing fast. I try to open it up, but it won’t budge. I hover back on the ground and sigh. The room stops shaking and the ceiling stops lowering. I look around and see no sign of any exits. I try digging in the walls, but they’re made out of solid stone. The room begins to shake again. I hear terrible sounds like sharp knives slowly sharpening each other. I look up and sharp pointy rocks slowly grow out of the ceiling. I can feel my heart pounding fast. I know that being a dragon means being fearless in perilous times, but I’m only a Dragon on the outside and an Earthling on the inside. “Help, somebody, help me out of here!” I shout.
There is still no answer. I feel trapped, with the spiked ceiling slowly lowering down.
I place my back on the wall and just watch. “Daniel!” I hear someone shouting.
It sounds like it’s coming from above me and it sounds like Meagan. “Megan help!” I shout back.
“Daniel where are you?” shouts Megan.
“I’m down here!” I shout back.
“Where?” asks Megan.
“Down here! And the ceiling has sharp spikes and it’s lowering down!” I shout.
“How can I tell where you are?!” Megan shouts.
I look around to see if there are any tiny holes. I find one small hole in the wall. I run to the hole and blow fire through it. “Megan! Find the fire!” I shout.
I continue to blow blue fire through the small hole, hoping that Megan will find it soon.
“Ok, stop breathing the fire, I’m here!” shouts Megan.
Megan and I both look through the hole.
“Megan, start digging. The ceiling is coming down fast!” I shout.
Megan looks around to find something to dig with. She finds a Scorpiono skeleton pincer. She grabs it and starts to dig to make the hole bigger. I am doing the same thing with my Dragon talons on the other side.
“Hurry!” I shout.
“I am!” shouts Megan.
The ceiling is lowering closer to me. I dig as fast as I can. Megan manages to fit through the hole. She crawls into the room with me. Megan runs to me to hug me, but there is no time for hugging me in this perilous moment.
“We have to get out of here,” I say.
Megan nods and runs to the hole. The ceiling is too low now. My strong Dragon arms hold it up. It is very heavy and I’m not sure if my Dragons form is strong enough.
“Megan, it’s too heavy,” I grunt.
Megan turns around and runs back to me. She notices the markings on the walls. She turns to me, looking like she’s got an idea, which I don’t like. “How long can you hold the ceiling?” asks Megan.
I grunt and lift the ceiling higher. “Well, it’s pretty heavy but I think I can hold it for a few minutes,” I answer.
Megan nods. She runs to the middle of the room with me. My back bends and I continue holding up the ceiling. I grunt as loud as I can, then lift the ceiling higher. Megan opens the book.
“Grizzlyon,” she whispers.
Megan turns to the page that is glowing. She finds the Grizzlyon picture.
I grunt quietly as I feel my arms start to shake.
My legs start to shake too. “Megan, I can’t hold this much longer,” I grunt.
“Hang on!” shouts Megan.
I turn to Megan and she is looking at the markings on the walls.
“These markings look like the same ones that we saw on Grizzlyon’s body and in that terrible storm,” she says.
It’s getting harder to keep holding the ceiling. “Hurry Megan!” I grunt loudly.
“I’m almost done! I’m comparing the drawings on the wall to the markings on Grizzlyon,” Megan closes the book. “Done!” She shouts.
“Please hurry!” I shout.
Megan grabs my tail and starts pulling me. “Come on!” shouts Megan.
I am still holding up the ceiling. “I…can’t…hold!” I shout.
I grunt loudly as my eyes tighten. I let out a loud Dragon roar. I lift the ceiling higher. The walls begin to close in on us. The ceiling gets stuck between the walls. We can still access the opening. I grab Megan by her waist. I hover through the hole and out of the room. The room caves in and the opening are gone.
Megan and I got out of there just in time before the room collapsed. I pant because I am tired from holding the ceiling. Megan pants too. I let her go and she stands on the ground. I can barely stand. Megan reveals the book to me. I smile at her and gently take the book from her. Megan smiles and rolls her eyes at me. Megan looks a little tired, but not as tired as I am. She is about to lean on the wall. I gasp and remember that there are Scorpiono stingers in the walls.
“Megan! Don’t lean on the wall!” I warn her.
Megan feels a jab on her back. I hear a small jabbing sound. Megan grunts and starts to fall to the ground. I catch her before she hits the ground. “Megan?” I say.
She does not answer me. Her breathing sounds very heavy. I look at her back and I notice a hole, and she is bleeding a little.
“Oh man, Megan, why did you lean?” I complain.
I pick up Megan and carry her as I hover through the tunnels, searching for a way out, fast. I hear a whimpering sound coming from behind me. I turn around. The noise is coming from Timmy, the brown toy dog.
“Timmy,” I laugh.
I am so happy to see him.
“Follow me, I know the way out!” shouts Timmy.
I follow Timmy and he leads us to an exit. I can see the sunlight shining in. I hover out of the exit and then land on the ground. I gently place Megan down on the ground. “Come on we’ve got to get help,” I say.
Timmy looks around to find Spotty. She is nowhere in sight. “I can’t find my little annoying sister,” complains Timmy.
“We need to find help. Megan’s hurt,” I say.
Timmy turns to Megan. She is a bit pale and her breathing sounds heavy.
“She got stung by a Scorpiono,” I say.
Timmy shakes his head. “She will die in three days if we don’t do something,” says Timmy.
I kneel and lower my head and stare into space. Timmy notices that I am moping. He puts his cute tiny paws on my right hand. I sniff and shake my head in shame.
“It’s all my fault that she’s hurt. If I wasn’t so obsessed about finding the old man then she would still be ok. I didn’t know if I could find the old man from the real world anyway. I wish…” I pause. “I wish that I would have just listened to her, for once,” I say.
Timmy clears his throat. “Did you find the old man?” he asks.
I shake my head. Timmy sighs and then he claps his hands. The little toy dog seems like he has an idea.
“A powerful sorcerer can heal any injury. So let’s find a powerful sorcerer,” says Timmy.
I take a deep breath and let out a loud sigh. I get up and look down at Timmy.
“I’ll find help. You stay here and watch Megan,” I say.
Timmy nods at me. I take out the map. I look at it to see if there is a kingdom nearby. I look north on the map and I see a dark circle with ten black towers in the middle. Surrounding the towers are dead trees. It seems very far. But a Dragon can fly in a matter of minutes. I put the map back in my backpack and hover into the sky.
I look down at Timmy.
“There is a kingdom just north of here. I am going to see if there is a powerful sorcerer there,” I say.
I hover to the north. Timmy stands by Megan to guard her.
