Chapter 9 - Terron, Angel of Ash and Fire (2)

Sitting on a long piece of log, Huron sighed as he stared at the destroyed landscape in front of him. The land that was once filled with so much ice and snow, was now nothing more than a burnt wasteland. He turned his head to the side, where he saw Lucifer, Azrael, and Michael, sitting side by side as the rest of the Angels reorganized and tended to the injured.

Feeling his gaze, Michael turned to Huron and scratched the back of his head, embarrassed. A thought then suddenly came to his mind and made him ask,

"Lord Huron… If you don't mind… may I ask a question…?"

Huron nodded, telling Michael to continue.

"How strong is Lord Terron…?"

Michael asked. Huron thought for a while and once again looked at the destruction he caused, at the land he destroyed. He thought for a while before answering,

"Let's just say Terron is so strong that he doesn't need to…"

He paused and pointed at the destruction in front him before continuing,

"Do this…. He's so precise with his attacks that only those he wants to get harmed, will get harmed… Of course, it's not like he's incapable of destruction, if anything, he's the most destructive Angel ever…"

Huron then raised his head and looked at the clear, blue sky, and reminisced about the past. He thought about the time when he saw his brother losing control of his power and almost died….

About the time Terron caused an apocalypse, where ash and fire rained from the sky…

Huron quickly shook his head, clearing his head of these disturbing thoughts. He then turned his head somewhere in the sky where he heard the sound of flapping wings, and saw a group of incoming Angels.

The Angels landed near him, and a woman dressed in light armor approached Huron with her four pairs of wings, folded behind her back. Huron was about to greet her, when suddenly heard Terron's voice inside his head.

'Brother, I need he—"

With whatever strength he had left, Terron flapped his wings hard and stepped back, trying to dodge Baal's flaming sword. He was one step too slow, however, and the tip of Baal's sword grazed his wounded chest.

Terron could feel his wound burn as it caught on fire. He tried putting out the fire by applying a bit of his Holy Power, but only ended up gritting his teeth, when the fire didn't go out as easily as he thought it would.

Terron had no time to think though, for he saw Baal quickly charging towards him with his Greatsword raised above his head. Feeling weak and having no time to move, Terron forced himself to raise his sword horizontally and face Baal's attack head on.

The sound of metal hitting metal rang out as their swords clashed violently.

Terron's muscles tensed as he used all of his remaining strength to prevent Baal's sword from pushing down on him.

Desperate, his eyes wandered, trying to find ways to save himself, when his gaze suddenly landed on Baal's sword. Baal's sword had a blade that was dark as obsidian, just like the sword he took years ago, which was now in Ocean's hands.

Remembering the characteristics of the sword, Terron finally realized why he suddenly was losing the fight.

Terron's strength and his Holy Power were being drained every time he made contact with Baal's sword, making him weaker and weaker as the fight went on.

Realizing this, Terron, still enduring the crushing weight of Baal's sword, flapped his wings hard and suddenly dashed forwards. He kept his body low while still fending off Baal's sword, and slid through Baal's legs.

Terron quickly flapped his wings and flew to the sky, trying his best to create some distance between him and Baal, only to turn around and hold up his sword once more, blocking Baal's attack.

Feeling himself getting weaker, Terron acted quickly and gathered flames on his chest and shot it out, blasting Baal towards the ground. He then enchanted his voice with his Holy Power and said,

"[ Bind. ]"

Immediately after, tens of rings of light surrounded Baal, and contracted, binding Baal, immobilizing him momentarily. And without wasting another second, Terron gathered all of his remaining Holy Power and charged towards Baal as he chanted his spell.

"Lunox. Lux. Bela. Hadeon."

Then, from his chest, clusters of balls of iridescent light, gathered and compressed, forming a multi-colored pearl. He then held it with his hands and threw it towards Baal, and whispered,

"Bloom—[ Divine Supernova. ]"

And like a star's supernova, the pearl, filled with all of Terron's remaining Holy Power, collapsed on itself and exploded, sending hundreds of waves of light all over barren plains, destroying it. The ground crumbled and cracked, and pieces of land were thrown into the air, while the air was completely swept away by the explosion.

After a while, the light finally died down and Terron looked at the colorless world around him. There were huge cracks in the sky, while the land below was destroyed. He then noticed the color of the world slowly coming back, and the destruction he caused both on the sky and the land disappearing. Until finally, Terron's Domain was deactivated and all the evidence of the battle he had with Baal was gone.

"Fuck…."

Terron cursed, however, when he looked down and saw Baal, injured and barely moving, standing up with his sword stabbed deeply into the ground. Tired and having no energy left, Terron descended and slowly walked towards Baal.

It was time to finish him off.

Pain.

That was all he felt.

He felt his bones breaking, his flesh burning, his blood boiling, his eyes melting, and his consciousness becoming fainter. But even then, he held on, for the rage he had within him continued to burn fiercely, refusing to let him die in peace.

He tried moving his body, only to fail miserably. So he focused on his senses, and felt the cool touch of the hilt of his sword, as his hand gripped it tightly.

He then extended his senses. From the hilt of his sword to the blade, where he felt the boundless energy the sword devoured from his opponent. And with whatever energy he had left, he focused. Slowly and carefully, he drew out the energy from the sword and transferred it to his body, and used it to slowly heal himself.

Feeling his strength returning to him, Baal's eyes narrowed as he waited for Terron's arrival.

Terron walked.

He walked on the dry and barren land as he dragged his sword on the ground, gasping for air. Terron was exhausted. He wanted to lay down and rest. But as an Angel who had a duty of protecting this world, he had a job to do.

And that was to end Baal's life before he grows and becomes an even bigger threat.

As Terron slowly got closer to Baal, his eyes squinted when he noticed blue steam coming out of Baal's body. More and more steam kept coming out from Baal's body, until it reached the point where Terron couldn't properly see him anymore.

Alarmed, Terron quickened his pace and forced his injured body to move. He flapped wings hard and raised his sword, ready to stab it through Baal's heart. He quickly arrived at Baal's location and went through the cloud of steam and was about to swing sword when—

"Too late."

—Baal's outstretched hand grabbed the blade of Terron's sword. Baal then pulled it closer, pulling along Terron with it, and his eyes went wide in shock.

A strong gust of wind then passed by, blowing away the small cloud steam, and Terron was finally able to see Baal in full view.

His blue, tall and bulky figure was no more, and was instead replaced by a muscled and lean body with tanned skin. He now had three pairs of bat-like wings on his back, and two red horns on his forehead. His eyes remained as red as before, and the face he had was exactly the same as Terron's.

Still holding onto Terron's sword, Baal swung it into the air, throwing Terron along with it. He then flapped his wings and flew to the sky and caught up to Terron. And with his sword raised, he aimed at Terron's head and dropped it down.

Terron was able to raise his sword though, and managed to block Baal's attack. It did not stop the force of impact, however, and Terron's body was blasted away towards the ground. A cloud of dust rose up into the air when he crashed, blocking Terron's vision as he slowly raised his body up.

Terron then raised his sword, preparing for Baal's offensive, when he suddenly felt a presence behind him. He hurriedly jumped forwards to avoid the incoming attack, but was suddenly grabbed by the leg while he was midair. He then felt himself getting lifted up and was thrown into the air once more.

And then, from the corner of his vision, he saw Baal rushing towards him with his Greatsword falling towards his head. Terron, in a last ditch effort to survive, leaned his body to the side, making Baal miss his head and sliced through Terron's arm instead, severing it.

Baal clicked his tongue in discontent and grabbed Terron by the hair, making Terron dangle as Baal hovered in the air. And with an aloof expression on his face, he said,

"I won't miss your head for the second time."
