Chapter 4 - Sacrifice

Chapter 4 - Sacrifice

Terron scanned their surroundings and noticed an organized army was heading their way. He didn't mind their presence, however, for he was sure they were going to finish their business here pretty quickly.

The brothers then slowly descended from the sky and planted their feet firmly on the barren land. Hurron, still aloof, unsheathed his sword as both of them slowly walked towards the small cottage. While Terron, still skeptical, looked towards his brother and sighed. And with ashen gray light radiating from his hand, Terron waved it in the air, draining the world around them of color, leaving nothing but black and white.

"My [ Domain ] is up, Metatron can't see us anymore."

Terron said so as he nudged his brother on the shoulder, making Huron sigh in relief as stretched his arms. Huron then wrapped his arm around Terron's shoulder and exclaimed,

"Thank you, brother! I knew I could count on you!"

Terron, regretting his decision to hide them, could only sigh as Huron continued to ruffle his hair. He then grabbed Huron's arms and said,

"Alright, that's enough. Now tell me what's really happening here."

Terron then narrowed his eyes as he looked at the cottage's door, and peered through it, looking directly at what's inside. He then squinted his eyes and muttered,

"The adult male is clearly an Alien in disguise while the adult female is a human… And that kid… I have no idea what that kid is…"

Huron, realizing there was no use to trying to hide information from his brother, scratched the back of his head as he coughed and said,

"The child… she's a half-breed… "

Hearing Huron's words, Terron's eyes widened in shock as his head immediately turned towards his brother, his eyes staring at him, waiting for him to explain further. Feeling embarrassed, Huron looked away and stuttered as he continued,

"T-The Truth is… that's all I know…. I wasn't paying much attention to the briefing…"

Not doubting Huron's words at all, Terron could only sigh once more, as they made their way to the cottage's entrance while he continued to think of a way to handle this situation. He then placed his hand on the door's handle and explained,

"I've thought about it and here's what we'll do… Once I open this door, I'll stop the time for both the mother and child and force them out of my [ Domain ], after that, we'll confront the father, understand?"

Huron simply nodded in response as he readied his sword and roused up the Holy Power within him. Terron, too, roused up his Holy power, and after making sure they were both ready, he opened the door.

In a small room devoid of all color, a man wearing a simple white shirt and blue pants was sitting on his chair.

The man closed his eyes as he waited patiently for his visitors to arrive. He then heard the door open, and the sound of footsteps made its way to his ears. The sound kept getting louder and louder the nearer his visitors got, and suddenly stopped when they arrived in front of him.

The man then opened his eyes and observed the young, handsome faces of the men in front of him. Both men had long, gray hair, with the only difference being one of them had his hair tied into a ponytail. The man noticed the difference in their wings as well. One of them had white wings, like all the other Angels the man had seen, while the other had black, making him immediately think of a single name…

"Terron."

The man said so as he calmly looked at Terron in the eyes. Terron, not surprised that this man knew his identity, only nodded his head in agreement and said,

"Indeed, I am Terron… and you are—"

"The name's Issac. Just Isaac…"

The man interjected, he then gestured his hands towards the two chairs nearby and said,

"Take a seat, please. We have a lot to talk about."

Terron and Huron, not expecting things to turn out this way, complied with the man's request and sat on the chairs nearby. Isaac chuckled, seeing the brothers awkwardly sitting on their chairs, clearly confused by the situation they were in, and said,

"I have no plans of defending myself… I would die if that is what you all wish… "

Isaac's eyes then shook as he turned his eyes to the right and peered through dimensions and watched his wife and daughter, stuck in time, with a sadded look. He then shifted his gaze to the brothers and said,

"On one condition… Please, spare my daughter… she has done nothing wrong…"

Isaac looked at his rough and calloused hands, and thought about all the lives he had taken, all the lives he had destroyed. He then muttered,

"Ocean… has no place in our war…"

Enraged, Hurron was about to stand up and ask what gave Isaac the confidence to even ask for something like that, when Terron suddenly sent him a telepathic message, telling him to calm down. Terron the stared deeply into Issac eyes and said,

"You're an interesting creature… Truly interesting… For years now, I have hunted thousands of your kind, and most of them… how do I say this? They were more like beasts… Even the ones that almost looked human… they were really only feral savages that knew how to talk… They evolved into weapons… into monsters…"

Terron then stood up and approached Isaac, crouched and looked at Isaac's deep, blue eyes. He then continued,

"But you… you evolved into a human…"

Terron then stood, stepped back, and glared at Isaac as he asked,

"So tell me. Why sacrifice yourself for a child when you're capable of just making more? Answer me and I might just accept your condition."

Terron unfolded his wings, readied his sword and roused up the Holy Power within him as he waited for Isaac's reply. He didn't have to even wait for long, however, for Isaac answered immediately.

"Because I loved her… I love my daughter… like any father would…"

Hearing Isaac's words, something inside Terron's chest throbbed, making his grip on the sword even tighter. Terron then closed his eyes and thought for a second, when Huron suddenly laughed and said,

"Pffftt—Love? You? A being like y—"

Hurron couldn't finish what he was going to say, however, because he suddenly felt a cool, sharp blade, just below his throat. His eyes darted to the side and saw Terron glaring at him menacingly, making Huron gulp and shut his mouth.

"Your condition… I accept."

Terron said so he raised his sword, and in one swift movement, he decapitated Isaac's head. Isaac's head then plopped to the ground and rolled over towards Terron's feet. Terron looked down and observed the face of the decapitated head, only to feel something within him throb once more, when he saw the warm smile on Isaac's face. He then muttered to himself,

"Love, huh…"

Terron then turned back and headed for the door, when Huron suddenly grabbed his shoulder and asked,

"Are we really going to do this? Metatron won't be happy once he finds out…"

Terron stopped and turned to face his brother. He then gave a toothy smirk as he replied,

"Since when have you cared for Metatron's happiness?"

Hearing his brother's words, Huron's eyes widened. He then smiled brightly and laughed boisterously as he walked right next to Terron and put his arm around his shoulder, not saying anything else.

And just like that, the two brothers made their way out of the cottage and immediately flew to the sky. Terron then looked down at the cottage, and the army of well-armed soldiers charging towards it.

"Let us hope your fate is not as cruel as mine, child."

Blood, her mother's screams, and her father's headless body…

She would have the same dream every night.

She would hear her mother's scream, as she begged the soldiers for mercy. Her eyes would shake, as she stared at the headless body of her father, still sitting on a chair. And she would cower, sweat, and almost cry, as she hid under their cottage's floor boards, while she watched her mother get stabbed in the heart by one of the soldiers….

She would then close her eyes, telling herself that this wasn't real, that it was all a drea—

"Wake up, fool!"

Startled, Ocean, now a young teen, woke up as sweat poured down from her forehead. She then frantically swept her gaze all over her room to see if anyone else was in here. She checked under her old rusty bed, and sighed in relief once she realized no one was under there.

Now sure that she was alone in her room, Ocean took a deep breath and sighed, calming herself down. Shen then got up from her bed and raised the curtains of her room, only to be greeted by the blinding light of the red sun above.

"F*ck… I slept for too long…"

Ocean said so and hurriedly got dressed and barged out of her little home and ran on the hot, barren land, towards the village's plaza.
