Scary Bad Stuff

Scary Bad Stuff

Jason held his breath, the more of the things kind started to move closer. Boops still wasn't able to figure out what the thing was maybe it was because Jason couldn't see it, or Boop's processing skills were boggled down by the new information he had just gotten. Whatever it was Jason was in the dark and the unknown creatures were only multiplying underneath him.

Jason's heart started rapidly beating, his lungs started to labor under the controlled breathing Jason had restricted them to. Cold sweat covered Jason's back, his back was virtually soaked and every time he breathed, his stiff iron armor rose and invited a gust of cold air to chill Jason to the bone.

To Jason, the cold wind felt like somebody breathing down his back. Jason was about to jump down from the tree and face whatever the creature was out of impatientness. But right before Jason took the plunge he saw a shadowy figure on the top of the hill next to him. It emerged walking on four limbs.

Its nose pointed up and in the wind. It stood facing the moon that was slowly starting to rise and illuminate the surroundings with a soft glow. The moon slowly rose and with it, the soft light slowly drew up and showed off the creature's legs. It had white fur on them and sharp claws poking out of the fur. The moonlight continued to illuminate the creature until its lower body was exposed. It had an underbelly of white fur, its legs were revealed to be lean and strong, perfect for chasing prey down. The rest of its body was revealed, its shaggy white coat of fur its sharp ears, pointy nose, and its eyes that gave off a small hazy yellow glow.

The creature raised its head one more time and gave off a howl. Yes, the creature stalking Jason the entire time turned out to be a pack of wolves. Jason inwardly gave off a sigh of relief. With his vivid imagination and with the dark scary atmosphere Jason had thought that the thing chasing him was.. much worse than wolves.

Okay, now Jason had to figure out how to deal with some wolves. That he could work with, nothing worse than facing against the unknown. With the information of the first wolf, Boops was able to figure out everything else about the rest of the wolves. Their locations were all pinpointed and Jason could finally get an actual number. An entire pack was slowly gathering around him and his little tree. About 20 wolves arrived on the hill Jason was on and the one the white wolf was on. Jason laid low again because he scanned one of the wolves.

[grey wolf (level 40 hostile)]

Jason's level was only in the 20s he was not going to be able to take on a pack. He hid in hopes of them passing by, but with the wolves fabled nose, they were easily able to fish out Jason and his little hiding place. Witnessing the movements of the wolves Jason gave up on hiding and stood upon the branch to prepare for a fight.

Most of the wolves were now underneath him, and from the sound of it, they were hungry. Now with Jason's vantage point, he could see all of the wolves closely, he could see some of them had skin hanging loose, and were visibly tired and malnourished. Great, he had a pack of hungry wolves underneath him. Looking around he didn't have a way out, he was on top a hill and grassy plains and hills were the only thing accompanying him and the wolves.

The wolves started to circle around, a few of them attempted to jump toward Jason who was standing on one of the branches. Thankfully he was high enough for the wolves to miss. Jason started to think fast, he had no way to escape, a pack of wolves that were hungry, and with little to no resources on him.

wait actually didn't he have a ton of food?

"Boops how much rabbit meat do we have?"

'about 200 of them'

"and using them as bait is possible right?"

'it's your best shot'

"At least give me some encouragement"

'your chances are higher than 20%'

"thank you that didn't help"

Jason grabbed a piece of rabbit meat from his inventory and chucked it as far as he could. The piece of meat sailed behind a hill and Jason could audibly hear it rolling down. One of the wolves started rushing toward the meat, it wasn't one of the ones that were starving but one that looked healthy. It grabbed the meat and brought it back to one of the starving wolves letting it eat the entire piece of meat.

Jason was impressed but continued throwing the meat hoping for the wolves to move in mass and give him a way to escape.

But each and every time only one or two wolves would go and grab the meat and bring them back letting the starved wolves eat their fill. Jason started to get desperate and started slinging the meat as fast as he could, more of the wolves went out to retrieve the meat but at least half of the pack stayed where Jason was.

'Boops any ideas?'

"wait look at the title of the wolves"

Jason started at the title floating on top of the wolves. Before it marked the wolves as hostile, but now the title changed to

[grey wolf level 40 (thankful)]

Jason after seeing the thankful status and pricing together that it was the meat that mad the wolves happy had a realization

"Okayyyyyy I guess that means ill keep on sending in more meat?"

Boops sighed

'I can't believe we're actually getting out of this alive'

The white wolf that Jason had first seen was quietly watching everything its pale yellowish eyes started to fade as soon as he started slinging meat all around the place.
