Friendship

In the middle of slinging the pieces of rabbit meat, Jason started to forget the weight of the situation. He started enjoying the expressions of pure bliss the wolves made when they ate the meat.

Eventually, Jason slowed down, he still had plenty of rabbit meat left but the wolves already looked satisfied and even on their title they showed it

[grey wolf (level 40 friendly)]

Jason took a risk and slid down the tree, he was a bit nervous after all a few hours ago they were looking at him like he was prey. When he reached the ground the wolves were waiting for him. Jason braced himself for a fight to the death.

But before he could even do that a wolf jogged to him and forcibly placed its muzzle in his hand. Jason didn't keep any dogs but he could easily tell that the wolf was asking for a pet, and how could Jason have refused.

He started petting the frick out of the wolf and in the end, he even gave the wolf an extra piece of meat. The wolf took the meat and offered it to one of the weaker wolves but it refused, and the first wolf then finally started to chow down.

Before Jason knew it another wolf placed its muzzle in Jason's hand. Its eyes were shining with excitement and its tail was wagging. Jason repeated the process and also gave it a piece of meat. Before he knew it another one placed its muzzle in his hands and

Jason looked up to see a line of wolves waiting for the human dispenser to give them food and free pets.

It seems like the pack was starving and were smart enough to not kill the human who gave them all of their food. The wolves would always make sure that the weaker wolves would get their fill of the food first and then they would eat. Afterward, they would lounge around Jason and the tree on top of the hill. Some rolled around and laid down others frolicked and played with the younger wolves.

The wolves surrounded Jason, they may have been protecting Jason aka their source of food from monsters by forming a defensive perimeter around him, but to Jason, it was like they were creating a giant wall to keep him captive.

And the reason why they kept him captive was for well... pets and free food. Jason was totally fine with that but he was still worried that if he ran out of food he would lose his worth and get killed.

Well, he would only run out of food if he continued the petting for a few more days so he was good for a while. Jason worked on making the line disappear for a bit and finally, the last wolf walked off and lay contentedly next to Jason.

Jason was now alone wondering what he should do. He looked around trying to figure out any places to escape. Then he noticed the white wolf. It was still on the other hill but it was staring directly at him. It no longer had its scary feral eyes and instead was looking at Jason with a different emotion. Jason had no idea what emotion it was, but he was pretty sure he was safe.

The white wolf had by its side a few rabbits that Jason assumed the rest of the wolves gave it. It was still staring at Jason when he took out a flask of water to drink. Even when he pulled out a metal spike that was on the smaller side next to his sword it only continued to stare. Eventually, Jason looked at the wolf again and it was tilting its head like it was deciding on something. Jason didn't really understand anything in the situation, especially the white wolf so he returned to helping Boops classify and sort information.

Jason swore, he looked away for one second and he looked back and she was gone.

Just gone, and then he felt a warm breath on his shoulder and he turned his head to face the white wolf staring straight into its eyes. Jason didn't know what to do and started back into the wolf's eyes.

Their little staring contest continued for a bit. Until the white wolf moved and poked its nose on Jason's shirt.

Jason breathed a sigh of relief and then turned his head to the sky. It was still dark and according to the sun, it was around midnight. Jason picked himself up and started walking toward the barracks. This time he followed the main path and was careful of his surroundings. He crossed more hills and plains his eye was out for any more danger.

This time he reached the barracks safely its lights were still on and it seems like people were still awake in it. The moment Jason stepped foot in the barrack a notification came up.
