Hunting

[you have killed a level 10 three horned rabbit]

[+500 Exp]

[you have killed a level 8 two horned rabbit]

[+ 400 Exp, 1 rabbit hide]

[level up]

[you are now level 15]

Well that was the last of them, Jason thought as he finally took down the rabbits in his vicinity.

During his mindless killing grinding session, Boops started to give him a layout of the game.

"Okay, so every 50 levels you'll get to upgrade your class to a higher rank like swordsman, swordmaster, sword grandmaster, etc. There are thousands of unique classes and an extremely large amount of freedom in this world. In fact, since your about 10 levels ahead you should have a good advantage for a long time."

Jason nodded to himself,

"Okay cool so where are we in the world?"

Boops seemed to be reading off a manual as he answered

"We are in a beginners village, that actually has no definitive place in the game world. Think of it as a tutorial place. Its a place for gamers to adapt to the new vrmmo world, you can leave at level 15"

Jason rubbed his hands together

"huh okay so when I get to level 15 we really start going into the world"

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

Boops cheerfully replied

"yup, so hurry up and level up so we can utilize our advantage."

Jason after finishing up hunting the nearby rabbits, went back to the town where he witnessed the town being completely flooded by the new players.  NPC's were being flooded with people begging for quests, stalls where being trampled on. Utter chaos was reining until a detachment of guards came and sorted them out. Some rash player tired to fight back only to get bound and thrown into prison.

After all, the guards were all level 30 which was the average soldier level in the continent. And the newbie players didn't stand a chance.

Jason went to the shopkeeper and handed him the 20 skins.

[mission complete]

[ +5 affinity with Lewis the shopkeeper, + 20 Exp]

"Thank you," Lewis examined the skin closely and exclaimed

"sonny this fur is from a horned rabbit! you can tell because it has a glossier fur than regular ones."

He then took them behind the counter, while he was sorting it out he called out to Jason

"As thanks for the high-quality fur let me tell you something"

A notification popped up

[Lewis the shopkeeper wants to share information with you.]

[would you like to accept yes/no]

'yes of course'

Lewis continued on

"As you probably know beyond the rabbit's domain is a large forest, but there is a tree that towers above all of the trees. I'm sure that you have seen it before, the small shabby tree right next to it has a weird carving on it. I saw it when I was a child but I could never make any sense of it."

Saying that Lewis left the counter and busied himself, completely ignoring Jason.

[you have gained information on the mysterious carving in the beginners village]

Jason walked off, deep in thought when it suddenly hit him. The shop keeper didn't give him any money! Even when he got him high-quality fur he still didn't give him anything except for some random information. Veins appeared on Jason's face but he was able to calm down quickly, he looked at the shop keeper that was being swarmed and gave up, he would just waste even more time

"I'm sure the carving will be part of an important quest or something"

he said to reassure himself as he walked to the hunting grounds again.

As he got the entrance he looked into the forest and saw the tree Lewis was talking about. It was a towering fir tree that was at least 5 stories tall. It was comparable to the large redwoods oaks in a certain place.

Jason saw the tree from a distance but when he went into the forest he lost any type of reference for him to move toward and just trudged in the general direction. Not forgetting to kill any living creature he came upon.
