22- The Mist Girl, The Homunculus Girl, and the Stupid Cat pt. 2

Syon and Renya descended into the top floors of the skyscraper. A large open laboratory full of bubbling equipment and steam expanded before them. The top three floors were remodeled into a vast facility. A poisionous dark green mist hung in the air. Renya's alchemist family attempted to escape notice from the Shadow Society by placing it at the top of a residential skyscraper.

"Blowing up the whole building would have been easier," Renya said.

"It would have. I do not like easy." Syon motioned to Myon, who was lying against a wall with corpses all around her. The was cuts through the flowing white robes she wore and she was stained with blood.

"Is that girl alright? You should take better care of your sister." Renya said.

"Taking care of her would ruin the moment." Syon walked over to Myon, fanning out her iron fan. She flicked it with her wrist, and the blacked out windows all across the laboratory exploded outwards from the air pressure. The poison mist started to spread out into the air. Syon waved her iron fan again, and a rush of mist and snowflakes poured through the building.

Renya started shaking from the cold, hugging herself and squatting down.

"Cold." Renya moaned at Syon, her eyes on her back. Syon looked over her shoulder at Renya, grinning.

Myon gasped. Syon's head snapped back as she danced over the corpses to Myon's side. Syon rubbed Myon's head, leaning in close with a smile as she helped Myon up.

Renya crouched in the cold, looking at the sisters. She saw her family scattered about, and in the center, a smiling girl and a bloody one. Renya cut one up herself, and the other wanted to adopt her. What a messed up relationship. How wonderful, Renya thought. Her face felt hot in the cold, watching the two.

Myon grabbed Syon by the collar, slamming her into the red painted wall. It cracked behind Syon's body as she spit up blood. Myon's dark green eyes met Syon's slate colored ones, and Myon's face was a mask of vengence while Syon's was a girl in love. Myon let go, her head and eyes scanned to Renya. Then Myon stood there, watching the crouching homunculus girl with the sheathed katana. Myon knew from experience with Syon alone what this meant. Myon and Syon panted in the cold as Myon weakly pushed Syon up against the wall again, letting Syon fall to the ground.

"You make me sick." Myon said.

Myon pulled out her gun from behind her waist and pointed towards Renya. Syon drifted between them in an instant. As if she turned into mist and was carried on the wind. Syon wrapped her silver gloved hand and bare hand around the barrel of the gun, guiding it to her heart and pushing her chest against the barrel.

Dark green eyes met slate colored ones again as Myon and Syon locked eyes. Syon's smile was gentle, Myon's furrowed brow was stern.

"What are you doing? Want me to fight her again, after all this? You're too greedy." Myon whispered to Syon.

"No. She's coming to live in the village with us. Like a weapon - Renya is necessary." Syon closed her eyes.

Myon pushed the barrel into Syon chest, keeping her finger along the barrel to make sure she didn't shoot.

"After what you just did, locking me up here in this hive, you want to bring the one back that almost killed me? I'm supposed to accept this?"

"You're strong, Myon. If I thought you'd die, I could have blown the whole building up."

"That was never an option."

"It was - to me."

"And the gas?" Myon nodded to the windows which now showed the city. "What if that homunculus got me?"

"I was watching. Why wouldn't I watch?" Syon said.

Myon pulled her gun away, pushing Syon into Renya. Renya dodged Syon's body as it hit the ground. Myon pulled up her left sleeve and slapped on a paper seal she pulled out of her robe onto her forearm. Green lines poured across Myon's body, her wounds closing as she grimaced, then she tore the seal off. Myon stared at the crouching homunculus.

"Renya? Is that your 'name'?"

Renya looked at Myon's face, and with her mouth turning round for a moment she nodded at Myon. Renya stood up, holding the sheathed blade horizontal in front of her.

"You want to fight, again? You look tired, Myon. This isn't good for your health."

"It's a shame that killing you would be like killing Syon. I can't kill Syon, because I need her, because I love her. Despite how miserable she can make me. Renya, I can't kill you because Syon needs you. Remember that."

A flash of lightning pierced the ceiling. Myon grabbed the blue flash with her bare hand. Twisting it in one movement, it formed a large golden spear.

"However, Syon won't mind if I try."
