In the night, cats yowled at the moon. The sound chilled Ichi to bone as he came upon the next encampment.
He slunk away after observing their activity in more detail than he would have liked. He fell against a tree, the arrows glued to his back snapping off like twigs. Ichi stared in silence at the broken arrows.
So, that was how there were so many bakeneko. Ichi let out a curt chuckle. His hands crept to his face and rubbed himself in silent contemplation.
The moon was full tonight. The bakeneko were busy. Ichi may have cut them down en masse easily during the day, but to interrupt what they were doing right now and attack?
He was at his limit. His mental state was. He hadn't even noticed that he had arrows on his back, nor the white energy shrouding his white shirt. He was already burnt out over the massacring, so why did this have to happen next?
Another stupid event occurred yet again. Ichi was still sore over taking a sword to his gut. He reflected he should be glad, after all, people normally just die from that.
Ichi realized his power allowed him to continue surviving choices that would normally get him killed. When he attacked Avar twice to no avail? When the tanuki dogpiled him when he arrived? When he attacked Scipio? When Renya toyed around with him?
All of them lead him further towards stupidity. There had to be a better way of surviving than this. After all, wasn't Renya nice enough to make him robot maids? Even though it left a bitter taste in Ichi's mouth remembering it.

He'd pull back for now. Crying like a bitch before Rikya sounded like a promising option, however he didn't think his pride would allow him to do that. Crying like a bitch before Renya? Ichi smiled at the thought. She'd enjoy that. At least he could make someone happy.
Ichi called out for the resident taxi of Avalon. She did say call her anytime, anywhere. Might as well go for it.
"Fubuki."
Ichi caught her smell three steps behind him. Teleportation is amazing. Fubuki is amazing. This kind of convenience in travel technology should be spread across the world, and then, humanity could rise to the stars...
Ichi retched a little as he looked at the moon, remembering someone disgusting. He rose and Fubuki glided up behind him, replacing his clothes in an instant. Ichi adjusted his new black blazer as Fubuki showed him a pile of arrowheads cupped in her hands.
"A busy day at work?"
Fubuki's light comforting tone gave Ichi the sense she was watching the whole time. He didn't feel like checking it, but his instinct was yelling at him that it was one hundred percent on the mark.
"Just playing around." Ichi was quick to downplay events. "Thanks for coming. These cats... behavior... became too much to bear."
Fubuki nodded with understanding. Just looking at her face made Ichi feel like he was home. Such was to be expected of a maid of her caliber.
"Beam us out, Fubuki!" Ichi said excitedly.
Fubuki silently didn't understand, yet she acted anyways, interpreting via context that he wanted to go home to Avalon.
She put her hand on Ichi's shoulder. With a flash of grey the two disappeared.
The yowling cats would live to die another day.
