Chapter 32 - Returning home

After opening my store, a week went by. During that time, I dedicated myself to making final adjustments to the establishment and showing the employees their respective work areas. Among them were three women, two of them sales clerks, and the third in charge of store administration. In addition to these employees, there was a man working as a security guard. I also had the presence of four siblings, Ammy, who was responsible for the pharmacy department on the second floor, and his three brothers who were learning about business management.

Considering my intention to open branches in the future, this team will be extremely valuable in the long run. During this week, I did my best to teach Ammy everything I could remember about medicine. Additionally, I wrote two books titled "World of Medicine" covering major diseases, healing methods, surgical techniques, among other topics. Although I wanted to do more, I only managed to produce these two volumes. However, in the future, I plan to accomplish much more.

For now, these two works will be of great help to Ammy, and she will be able to share this knowledge with others. In summary, that was the main activity I carried out last week. Now, I am traveling back to my hometown, where I intend to complete my studies and prepare to enter the Solaris Academy. The return trip went smoothly, with overnight rest stops and continued travel during the day until we reached the city entrance.

Unlike the last time when Bernard accompanied us, this time my family and I were greeted by a carriage sent by the king as a token of gratitude for saving the queen's life. This demonstrates the affection the king has for her. Unfortunately, I couldn't say goodbye to the princess as getting an audience with royalty is not so simple. However, I am confident that we will meet again at the academy.

As I walked towards my home, I passed by the well where some adults were using a tool I helped develop to fetch water. A smile appeared on my face as I witnessed this scene. During the journey through the city, I could observe the areas inhabited by the middle and lower classes. While my family and I were away, I asked Bernard to find a house for my family in a wealthier neighborhood within Maine, as with my considerable income, I thought we should enjoy some luxury.

Although we are considered wealthy in this world, we still do not possess noble titles. I believe the only way to obtain them is through achievements recognized by the king. When one achieves a sufficient number of notable accomplishments, the king bestows a noble title. Finally, after a few more steps, we arrived at our new home. Although I call it home, it is more of a mansion than a simple house. Due to its considerable size, I asked Bernard to hire staff to clean the residence three times a week.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

"Wow, the house is huge! Is this where we're going to live now?"

Anna exclaimed as soon as I opened the door, her eyes gleaming as she looked at every corner of the house, barely able to contain her excitement to explore everything.

"Your room is on the second floor, it's the last door down the hallway. How about we explore it?"

I said with a smile on my face, observing Anna. Upon hearing my words, she turned to me, her eyes filled with excitement. Her expressions were genuinely adorable.

"Can I really?"

Anna asked, her face beaming with a radiant smile. Upon seeing her excitement, I almost let out a laugh, but instead nodded in confirmation of her question.

"Just be careful not to trip"

With those words, Anna sprinted towards the second floor, probably heading to her own room. Anna and I used to sleep together in the same room, and that was likely the reason behind all her excitement.

"She does seem really thrilled about all of this"

My mother commented, a smile lighting up her face as she watched Anna disappear upstairs.

"It's good to see how excited she is. Besides, this place is simply amazing. I can't believe we'll be living here from now on"

My father said, a smile on his face as he looked around. My mother seemed to share the same thought as my father. After that, we walked around the house and explored it a bit. After all, I didn't know much about the place either since it was Bernard who bought it. Once we met up with Anna, I told my parents about some of the things that happened in the capital. There was a time when we barely saw each other, but since we were staying in the same inn, they knew I was okay.

In addition, I shared with my parents about my visits to the palace and how I had the opportunity to heal the queen. I told them about the enchanting shop and its glassware, but I left out the fact that I had fallen in love with the princess.

"It's incredible to think that all of this happened while the three of us were exploring the capital. It must have been scary, but I'm genuinely glad to see that you're fine"

My mother said. My father simply nodded, as if he understood everything, but I decided to ignore it. As we talked, nightfall came, and after having dinner together as a family once again, it was time to go to bed. In my room, I reflected on everything that had happened and also on what was still to come.

(Maybe I'll visit other countries)

I thought, lying on the bed. I didn't have any grand goals in mind; I just wanted to be happy in this new life since I couldn't do anything in my old one. Now that I'm in a different world, I thought it would be a good idea to explore new places. With these thoughts, I fell asleep. In the following days, I resumed my school routine at the local school. Naturally, I was asked about my absence, but as soon as I showed them the seal I received from the king, I managed to get away with it.

I continued to achieve top grades with the aim of entering the kingdom's academy. Even though, at this point, I might not need to exert myself as much, I decided to keep striving for academic excellence until I graduated. The years went by, and finally, I turned 14. The time had come to enter the academy, and thanks to my academic performance throughout these years, I got in easily.
