A week has passed since I talked to Emi at the castle about the festival that would take place in Solaris. During that time, a few things happened. The first of them was that Emi and I started planning a way to get her out of the castle on the night of the festival. According to what Emi told me, the royal family usually celebrates at the castle, so it would be strange for her not to be present.
That's where I come in. This time, Emi and I informed the king and queen that we would be spending the festival at my house. Although both of them questioned whether it wouldn't be easier for all of us to spend the festival together at the castle, I managed to give an excuse that I had prepared beforehand. Thus, we obtained permission reasonably easily.
After overcoming the simplest step, Emi and I met early at my house before the start of the festival. Since the event would only begin in the early evening, we had plenty of time to deal with all the details, including Emi's clothing.
(This is impossible. How can someone look so good, no matter what they wear?)
I thought as I continued to rummage through my wardrobe, trying to find some clothes that could make Emi look more ordinary. Well, actually, I'm not sure if "normal" is the right word, considering that Emi's hair and eyes really stand out.
"Ren, you don't need to try so hard, you know? We could just use the first set of clothes you lent me"
Emi said, her voice echoing behind me. Turning my head, I found Emi sitting on my bed, staring at me. She was wearing one of my clothes, but this one was also discarded, in case you're wondering why. It's quite simple, actually.
(She looks too lovely)
With that thought in mind, I closed my eyes tightly, trying to avoid the light that emanated from Emi. I really didn't know why, but every outfit I put her in made her stand out even more. Of course, I initially thought it was simply because I was used to seeing her in dresses.
But when I went out with Emi to take a walk in the mansion, all the servants started looking at her mesmerized. Some of the younger maids even blushed because they initially thought Emi was a man. I guess that alone says how eye-catching Emi was.
Somehow, the masculine touch that Emi acquires when wearing my clothes naturally makes her stand out, which goes completely against our goal since we don't want her to attract attention. This could easily be solved by wearing more discreet clothes that conceal more of her figure. However, I really refuse to dress her that way.

"All right, I believe these clothes will look good on you"
I exclaimed as I got up and approached Emi. In my hand, I held the last set of clothes we would try on. As soon as she took the clothes I was carrying, Emi headed to the bathroom in my room to change. A few minutes later, the door opened, revealing Emi in her new look.
"How do I look?"
Emi asked with a mischievous smile on her face. She was dressed in a white shirt and blue pants, complementing the look with a black jacket. On her feet, she wore my white sneakers, and a cap adorned her head, hiding her white hair.
I must say that the biggest challenge we've faced so far was Emi's long hair. We tried various hairstyles, but in the end, her white hair still stood out. So, I thought it would be better for Emi to wear a cap, and as I imagined, her hair is well hidden now.
"It looks really good; I think we can go with this. What do you think?"
Hearing my question, Emi turned around and observed her outfit as she moved from side to side. After a few seconds, she looked at me with a gentle smile on her face.
"It's good, let's go with this. It's comfortable"
Emi said with a smile. After that, Emi and I were ready to go to the festival. In case you're curious, I was also wearing simple clothes, just like Emi. Since our goal was to blend in as commoners, it wouldn't make sense for us to go in fancy attire.
By the way, my parents are also going to the festival, accompanied by Anna. Additionally, we decided to give the night off to the servants in case they wanted to join the festival. With everything prepared, Emi and I took a carriage and set off for the kingdom where the festival would take place. My family would join us later, meeting us at the location.
With that in mind, Emi and I were inside the carriage, already close to our destination. From where we were, you could already see the lights all over the kingdom. Emi, all the while, looked out of the carriage with a smile on her face, seeming excited. Well, I can understand, as this is her first time participating in the festival.
Initially, I was really confused about the fact that the royal family doesn't participate in the kingdom's founding festival alongside the citizens. But when I asked Emi, she simply replied that this was a common tradition and that the presence of the royal family could make everyone nervous.
As soon as we arrived at our destination, I opened the carriage door and made room for Emi to exit. I really couldn't help her, as tonight Emi was supposed to pass as a man, and both she and I were supposed to give the impression of being best friends.
Once we got out of the carriage, we started walking down the streets. Various stalls scattered around greeted us with the aroma of dishes being prepared, whetting our appetite. Emi had already told me earlier that some dishes are made especially for this day, and we would only be able to eat them today.
The street was well-lit, and several people with smiles on their faces could be seen walking back and forth, many of them accompanied by someone.
"Let's head to the main square; that's where the dance will happen. It'll be the first time I've seen it, so I'm quite excited"
Emi said with a smile, which made some girls blush when they looked at her.
