Chapter 102 - A Distant Dream

Chapter 102 - A Distant Dream

As the party went on, the night finally fell completely over the Solaris realm. While everyone was leaving for their territories, my family and I were the last to stay in the place. While everyone was talking at the table, I was in front of one of the windows of the hall, looking outside, more specifically at the stars shining in the sky. No matter how hard I looked, I couldn't find any difference between the sky of this world and the sky of my old world.

This also reminded me of some memories I had forgotten a long time ago. No, I think the correct term would be that I made myself forget. While these thoughts were going through my head, the sound of footsteps coming from behind me caught my attention. As soon as I turned around, I noticed Emi coming towards me while holding two glasses in her hands.

"What are you thinking about?"

asked Emi while handing me one of the glasses. Hearing Emi's words, I stood for some time looking at the glass, thinking about which decision would be the right one. Although the future is uncertain, it's undeniable that Emi will spend a good part of her life with me from now on.

Besides, I think that relationships with secrets will always collapse. But still, I don't intend to tell her about my old world. Being honest, sometimes I think of that place as a distant dream I had. Nowadays, I simply think that my old self has nothing to do with my current self anymore.

"You know, I've always had a dream since I was a child"

I said as I looked at the stars again. Hearing my words, Emi nodded slightly and looked at the same place I was looking at.

"May I know which one it was?"

Emi asked as she stood next to me. Hearing her words, a soft smile made itself present on my face.

"Sure"

I said as I nodded my head.

"I've always wanted to explore what's beyond the stars that shine in the sky"

I said as I looked out into the vastness of space. I didn't expect Emi to understand what I was saying. To tell you the truth, if I were a person native to this world, I would probably think the person in question was crazy. I simply wanted to tell her that. It's not like I was expecting anything beyond that.

"If that's you..."

As these thoughts went through my head, Emi's murmur did not go unnoticed by my ears.

"What?"

I asked as I turned to Emi.

"If it's you... I'm sure you could do it"

Said Emi as she looked at me. Looking into her eyes, I couldn't see any doubt or uncertainty about her words. Those seemed to be her sincere feelings. Hearing that made me immensely happy.

"Thank you, Emi. Knowing that means a lot to me"

I said with a soft smile on my face as I looked at Emi. Hearing my words, Emi also showed a beautiful smile as she looked at me. But unfortunately, this moment was interrupted by a voice.

"I know you are in a relationship now, but I hope you can hold your own"

As soon as we turned to the person in question, Aria was smiling at us as she approached. Next to her was the entire royal family, and my father and mother were also together, although they were clearly feeling out of place.

"We were nowhere near doing what you are thinking"

I said with a soft smile on my face as I looked at Aria.

"I was just telling Emi about a silly dream of a child"

I said as I turned back to the starry sky.

"Would you mind telling us about it?"

The person who asked this was Asia. Somehow, sometimes, Asia tended to act like an older sister.

"It's just a silly dream. Are you sure you want to hear it?"

I said as I looked at Asia. Hearing my question, Asia put a wide smile on her face.

"But of course, we are family now, aren't we?"

Hearing Asia's words, I looked at her face for a few seconds before turning to Emi, who was also looking up at the stars.

"Yes"

I said. Saying this, I turned to everyone, noticing that everyone was paying quite a bit of attention to what I was going to say next. For some reason, the air was more serious than I wanted it to be.

"Well... have you guys ever wondered what exists beyond the infinite sky that surrounds us?"

Hearing my words, everyone looked at each other for a few seconds before turning to me again and shaking their heads to the side.

"I figured not"

I said with a soft smile on my face.

"Usually, people don't think about it much. I guess I'm the weird one for having a weird idea like that for starters"

I said as I let out a small laugh.

"My dream was to find that out, to know what might be beyond the stars. Maybe a whole new world would open up for me... or maybe just the despair of knowing that we are alone"

Hearing my words, everyone seemed to go into their own minds to understand the meaning of my words.

"And the first time we heard about it... so you had a dream like that, Ren?"

Asked my father, seeming to also inquire about my mother.

"Well... kids sometimes have crazy dreams. That's why I said it was a silly, silly dream"

I said with a soft smile on my face as I looked at my mom and dad. It seemed that the others, although skeptical, were also thinking about what I had said. After all, this really does sound like the dream a child would have. But among them was one person who thought totally the opposite.

"I don't think it's silly or idiotic"

Hearing those words, I turned to Emi, who was looking at me with resolute eyes.

"After all, you have already shown that you have enough strength to be able to accomplish it someday"
