The silhouette was distorted due to hot sunlight that made even Hildebrant sweat but even without its influence it would be still hard to recognize the person who stood on a dune and observed them. Its gaze was nevertheless piercing and even without being able to observe its eyes that were hidden beneath a silver helmet its body alone told him something was wrong.

Really, really wrong.

Noticing his gaze David also looked behind himself and squirmed his eyes.

"Is it…human?"

Hearing David's words two of his followers also turned their heads to the man in silver armor and they all watched each other, unmovingly, without blinking.

On one side were Hildebrant, David two of his followers, and three blood demons crawling on the ground, and on the other silver armored individual who did not move even an inch just stared at them until soft wind passed through their bodies.

Was it really human?

No!

Something in him screamed and then it frantically began to shake one of his memories that were blocked in his head.

No!

Hildebrant heart shook when he watched the figure watching them, calmly, silently, without moving. Just its presence growing and its silhouette shifting as if it didn’t exist in the same realm as them flowing like an unfinished painting.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Something was wrong, very wrong but Hildebrant could not come to what was wrong just that it was wrong. This person, this creature was wrong absolutely wrong and bad, it was wrong to the point his stomach began to shake and his hand tremble.

"Are you all right?"

David asked. It wasn’t the first time, and it wasn’t the last time someone asked him the same thing, the same sentence but now it felt wrong, it felt as if he was weak. Was he weak, was he so fragile to be worried about by someone of David calibre?

Was it even David before him?

Hildebrant head began to spin and letting go of David he stagnated to the back and then fell on one of his knees. David wanted to help him, but Hildebrant pushed him away with more force than he wanted.

"Get away from me!"

Blood vessels under David's clothes wriggled as he was caught by two of his followers but why did they look so wrong so unreal? What was going on!? Where was he? Who was he? How was he? Did he even live?

Hildebrant breath quickened and with a kind smile starting to grow on his face he scratched his face, melting it with his flames in the process. The pain came, blood dripped down and flesh was left under his nails but why this pain also felt wrong?

Air was also wrong, white shore was wrong, sun…was also wrong. Everything was wrong!

"Hill! What are you doing?! Stop!"

David shouted and wanted to stop him, but Hildebrant sidestepped and dodged him before grabbing one of the blood demon's legs and throwing him at him sending him back to the ground.

To that Osmian who held Arrianete before in his arms shrieked with horror written all over his face.

"Why are you doing this?!"

His voice was tingled with worry and fear but at it, Hildebrant just laughed and then with tears dripping down his face he gazed at Osmian who also looked wrong and unreal. So unreal.

"I don’t know."

He said and then attacked with all his might.
