Infiltration

Standing in front of a giant wall David and others moved around its edge and looked behind every giant stone they could find until Lucia waved her hand with a wide grin after a while.

"Here I found it."

She said and then her head disappeared behind a giant stone.

Hearing her Osmain and David stopped looking around and rushed to her while Hildebrant with titled head followed.

When he came to the giant stone it looked ordinary but after coming behind it he was surprised to find David, Osmian, and Lucie standing in front of the huge rift that emanated pure darkness from its inwards.

"The hardest part of my plan is to get into the Great Hall of Blood Demons without being found out but with this, we should not have any problem."

David said while smiling slightly but Hildebrant wasn’t persuaded by it.

"Don’t blood demons don't know about four-meter-long cracks in their walls?"

"It's not so easy to find out if you don’t know where to look, plus the walls of the sanctuary might not look like it but each one of them is thick and some cracks are several meters long."

It was Osmian who answered and then after finishing looked at David with an impatient expression.

"Are we going in?"

With a smile, David nodded and was the first one to walk in without looking back. As his figure disappeared Lucia followed and then Osmian who before entering glanced also stepped in under Hildebrant's stare.

Even as the last one of them entered Hildebrant didn’t move and just let wind sway his hair and whip his face with cold and the smell of the sea.

And blood.

Taking deep breaths Hildebrant also walked in and as darkness consumed him, he fought against the desire to summon the ember of light and instead used his hands to feel the walls. They were at first hard and smooth like true marble but the deeper he went the more crack began to have and more shrapnels of broken stone he touched until the marble turned soft and before he knew his hand touched something wet.

Stolen story; please report.

Hildebrant had a desire to look but before he could voice came from front of him.

"Don’t summon any light!"

The voice came absurdly and echoed three times before disappearing as fast as it came. It was the voice of David, but it sounded weirdly calm, and without his curiosity satisfied Hildebrant had no choice but to push forward while the passage he could push himself became smaller and smaller until he needed to walk by side to move.

The wet liquid touched his face, hands, and clothes but it never stayed on him and the softness of his surroundings was nothing in front of the pungent and sweet smell that came from all over the walls and assaulted his senses.

It was disgusting and revolting to the point he wanted to just vomit at where he was but all these thoughts stopped when something touched his leg.

"David?"

He asked and the echo of his voice sounded three times before disappearing into darkness.

"David, is it you?"

He moved his leg, turned it around, and even kicked but the thing holding him didn’t disappear or stop. Instead, it held him tighter than before and even moved a little as if settling in its new place.

No longer able to bear it Hildebrant summoned an ember of light and then he froze.

Crimson's hand held his leg in place not moving even an inch but what terrified him more were eyes. Thousand if not millions of pure black eyes stared at him and began to turn his way while flesh his hand touched wriggled and with each second of ember shining more and more eyes were on him, gazing, staring, pondering, and deep abyss of these eyes became deeper and deeper.

Fear stuck his heart but before he could act hand grasped his neck and dragged him out.

Darkness was replaced by light and when he looked behind, he noticed David breathing a sigh of relief before leaning on Hildebrant's shoulders.

"I thought already though you didn’t follow."

Lucia clicked her tongue when she saw her favorite play with another and Osmian didn’t react at all, but Hildebrant mind was still not whole yet at the place, and pondered about numerous things he could not even understand.

What was that thing and why did it look so familiar?

"Sorry for not listening to your advice."

He said with a lowered head. If he did, he would not be targeted by such a creature but who expected even gaps in the sanctuary to be so dangerous, but then when he lifted his head, he noticed David looking at him with confusion.

"What advice?"

Titling his head he wanted to say the one you gave me while walking in but then he stopped himself when he noticed Lucia and Osmian giving him weird glances and even David looking at him worriedly.

Closing his mouth Hildebrant then shook his head.

"Nothing."

He then kindly smiled.

It was really nothing.

Nothing at all.
