Noble visitor

Walking out of the dark corridor Hildebrant raised his gaze and observed the clean sky behind the opulent glass. It was so beautiful and so harrowing at the same time that he wanted nothing more than to hide in his dark room.

But he could not.

He was too weak.

How could a person be so weak?

Clenching his fist he didn’t notice David who came from behind and wiped his forehead with a smile.

"That was an adventure."

He said but Hildebrant ignored it and without waiting for David he walked into the crowd and with the push of the curtain he disappeared into bustling streets. David tried to stop him but all he was able to do was stretch his hand before Hildebrant was gone.

Walking through the various people with blood still dripping down his body he frantically made his way as far away from the entrance as he could and when his breath became raged and his feet finally started to feel the pressure that was alleviated by his boiling blood he sat down where he was and leaned on the wooden house while people continued to pass around him.

He no longer wanted to think, he didn’t want to move.

Grasping his head he looked down on the floor while pondering about what he wanted to do in the future.

Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.

He desired to go out to find a way home but all he found was more danger.

The monster was one thing but thinking about the crimson blood vessel made his heart beat faster and cold sweet roll down his back. His eyes kept wavering, and tears began to pour into his eyes.

The pain he felt was nothing, what hurt him most was his weakness.

He was weak.

Watching David, he understood better than anyone that he was extremely weak.

With his power alone he was unable to do anything, not even gather food for his survival so how could he wish to escape this place filled with dangers? As adaptable as humans were, he felt helpless in the face of a behemoth called Sanctuary and despair was close to overcoming his body when the shadow of a woman fell on his being.

"Why so down did something happen?"

A sweet voice flowed into his ear and when he raised his gaze girl with silver hair and a kind smile looked down on him with an umbrella in her hand cowering him from the sun.

For a while, Hildebrant lost all ability to talk as he watched Cecilie chuckle.

"Did you lose your tongue boy?"

She asked but didn’t look displeased in slightness by his reaction.

Composing himself Hildebrant shook his head.

"No…I was just surprised to see someone of your status talking to an unknown like me."

Her smile beamed into his face.

"What is the status if no bridge between people? The Yorm is known for his ability to bring people together and I am not willing to let someone who is down suffering on his own. What about you coming with me to get some tea? Maybe it will calm you down."

She said and after pondering for a second Hildebrant stood up and after dusting his body he offered his hand to Cecilie.

"Shall I escort you?"

Smiling Cecilie accepted his hand.

"What gentleman."

Her gaze then fell on a tattoo of marble pearl on his wrist and her smile widened even so slightly.

"I will show you around while we walk."

With these words, they walked into a crowd full of people without gathering their gaze.
