With the rise of the white marble orb, all sound disappeared, and the only thing that remained was the sound of soft rain hitting the glass. No one, even when gazing at the woman, uttered a word, not even David, who held him in his arms, dared to breathe louder than necessary.
This state remained until the woman's mouth opened.
"Celebrate the Yorm and all the things he created!"
"Celebrate the Yorm and all the things he created!!!"
The crowd followed her lead, and the mouths of hundreds, if not thousands, combined into a melody that almost shattered his senses.
"The Yorm is merciful and compassioned, he rules the depths of the earth with an iron hand but treasures humans with care and affection. In the name of his great power and in the name of the lineage he left behind and leaving him this offering."
Her voice echoed like thunder, spreading through space as if her voice was connected to the entire place, and right after her words fell silver soldier standing behind her dragged three people to the front of the stage where everyone could see them.
All they wore were tattered clothes and while kneeling and being pushed down they never stopped glaring at people below with intense furry.
But the girl's next words made their thin and bloodied bodies tremble.
"Let these people be forgiven for their sins and be purified and consumed by almighty Worm."
Letting down her hand she put the marble orb close to her chest before kneeling on the ground while the soldier behind her took the so-called offering closer to the pillar and when they were already close enough to touch it thin almost invisible lines began to grow out of the marble orb.
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
"Let him be forgiven."
"Let them be forgiven!"
"Let them be forgiven!"
"Let them be forgiven!"
She muttered but a crowd of people still shouted in unison their eyes never leaving sight of three people and thin white lines connecting to their bodies and slithering inside of them without their permission.
One of the three people shuddered and began to scream but before Hildebrant could understand what was happening silver soldier grabbed the man's head and crushed it into the crimson pillar.
Hildebrant expected it to be broken upon impact but instead of breaking, it began to shine, and man's head began to melt, and his body began to merge with stone until it disappeared from his sight.
"Let them be forgiven!"
"Let them be forgiven!"
People shouted with glee and happiness as they watched a soldier grabbing another person and throwing him into the pillar where he melted and decomposed until nothing remained.
His death made the crimson pillar shine even brighter, but it was nothing comparable to the brightness it emitted after the last person was thrown inside.
With his death entire pillar became a small moon, shining on the heads of all the people surrounding it and finally letting Hildebrant look at the giant space he entered.
It was in the form of a square, and its pure size sent a shiver down his spine until he noticed thin strings extending to the pillar and twisting around each other as if they were trying to find something inside the harrowing monument.
They twisted around it, rolled in it, and wanted to drill deeper and dive into the depths of this harrowing construct with bodies that were swallowed by it, but the construct refused to let them deeper.
Exhaling out girl muttered.
"Let Yorm give them peace."
Her voice was weak, but everyone heard it.
"Let Yorm give them peace!"
All people lowered their heads, but Hildebrant continued to watch spectate before him and thin treats that began to snap one after another and return into a marble orb with terrifying momentum.
They continued to struggle to hold on until not even one remained.
The girl didn’t look to care but when he observed more closely her eyes showed cunning calculating light that was full of disappointment.
"Let Yorm guide their souls."
She smiled kindly but watching her lips curl up Hildebrant felt like he watched his aunt, and he didn’t like it at all.
