At the entrance of the village
A small village, to the east of Indra. Not particularly known for anything, it houses approximately two-hundred residents, most of which aren’t wealthy nor are they well off in any other regard. The one thing the people took pride in was family… But now even that seems to be fading away…
…
“Get moving you pests”
“Move faster, you better attract more humans or else…”
“GAHAHAHAHAHA!!”
Cackling and laughing came from a bipedal cat-like beast as it tugged on a chain. The chain it held was attached to locked rings connecting to a few villagers' necks.
“You damn monster… Just wait… Someone will save us”, a villager whispered to himself, he seemed resistant to the beast's horrifying features.
The beast arched its head back and gritted its fangs and scrunched its nose.
“Seems we have a rebel”, it said with a creepy grin.
SHHHHHRIIIIT!
The cat-like beast whistled and the sounds of rustling came from a nearby house. In only a few seconds another beast came scampering out, this one was rather bulbous with a white body and an eerie smile, its fins waved around as it ran towards the chain of humans.
“Hold this”, the cat beast said. It proceeded to walk towards the one human who had the gall to go against his captor.
“GAHAHA! The boss won’t be too mad if one of the humans goes missing”.
It grabbed the chains around his neck and ripped them apart, leaving him standing there shivering in fear.
“No… No. Please, I beg you. You don’t have to do this”, he pleaded but in the back of his mine he knew that begging for his life would amount to nothing. It was common to everyone that beasts had little compassion.
The beast clamped its claws into the man's shoulders and dislocated its own jaw like a serpent. It got wider and wider, you could see several rows of razor sharp fangs perked up on either side of its mouth.
The man thought to himself, “ten seconds and I'll be dead, dear god. Why is this happening?” He began to tear up and closed his eyes, seemingly accepting his cruel fate.
Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two…
On-
SHHHHHLING! SPLUUURRRT!
A splash of blood washed over the man's face and the ground around him. He slowly opened one of his eyes. In front of him the beast remained, or at least half of it.
The upper torso of the beast slowly slid and fell to the ground, releasing its grasp on the man's shoulders. The man proceeded to fall to the ground, he grasped his head trying to focus his thoughts.
“Wooo, seems we got here in time aye”, Captain Yakusuke said with a wide grin.
Standing behind him was Mia and Hikaru, both seemed jealous that they weren’t able to make a flashy entrance like his.
The Captain looked down to the man, “that was a close one huh, you’re like the great Captain Gurren Yakusuke was here to rescue you”. He put his hands to his sides and stood proudly, reveling in his grandeur.

“Captain I don’t exactly think now's the time to be gloating or anything”, Mia said with an uneasy look.
As the Captain was gloating a group of snarling beasts slowly surrounded the trio, each’s appearance more horrifying than the last.
Hikaru looked around, noting the amount of enemies in the area. “There seems to be around sixteen beasts… Sadly though, sixteen isn’t divisible by three so one of us will have to shar-”.
Mia bursted forwards firmly grasping her blutklinge in her right hand. “Share? I don’t think so!”
She bolted towards the bulbous beast holding the chain of humans and cleaved it in twain, its organs falling to the ground in a disgusting fashion.
Mia felt a sense of pleasure and lust as she ripped through each beast, not enough to make it weird but enough to cause her delight. Her thoughts were calm, fear and any other negative emotion was non-existent, she only had one thing on her mind…
Kill.
She proceeded to jump around and go after as many beasts as she could. Cleaving and cutting, sawing and slashing. Mia’s face looked blood thirsty as she ripped apart each of her foes.
“Well, I guess I better help," Hikaru said with a reluctant look. He reached into his coat and retrieved his small, seemingly inadequate blutklinge.
He held it up, and looked at a group of beasts that were slowly approaching him…
"Devour; Hungry devil".
His notoriously nasty blutklinge made its appearance yet again and speedily made its way towards the beasts. Within moments it chomped through each of them.
“Ah, so many small fry, it’s quite sad that we can never find any super tough opponents”, he said with a disappointed look.
“Bah! That’s a good thing Hikaru, it shows that there’s a decline in evolved beasts. The less powerful beasts we find then the safer the people become”. Captain Yakusuke slashed a beast's limbs off as he explained.
…
Moments past and the slaughter continued.
“Who are these fancy uniformed people?”, a chained up villager whispered.
The chained prisoners whispered amongst themselves, their words unable to be heard by the trio due to the sounds of splashing blood and cracking bone.
…
Mia shot forward toward an rat-like beast that was running towards her, her blutklinge readied and her eyes filled with determination, she waited until it got close and swung down hard, nearly cleaving the ground beneath her.
“Woo, I think I worked up a sweat”, she said while wiping some beast blood off of her forehead. “I thought that beasts would be much harder to kill. I'm kinda disappointed”.
Hikaru walked over to her, sealing his blutklinge in the process, “of course they’d be easy, these are just your run-of-the-muck beasts. Just wait till we get to Seiren, I’ll show you some of the hunts on our mission board. I’m sure the Captain would agree that you could go on one, ain’t that right Captain… Captain? Where is he?”
“I'm not sure, I was too absorbed in the fight… Hm… I think I killed eight” She made a smug look and silently laughed.
They both looked around, eventually, they saw the rustling of a white cloth and a hairy body.
“Captain?”
“Come on you damn beast! Tell me what’s going on!” Captain Yakusuke yelled as he yanked around a beast that he had incapacitated only minutes before.
The beast made no response.
“Sir”, Mia said with a worried and confused look.
“Damn. I was hoping I could get some information out of one of them before it croaked”, he sighed then stood up. “Well, let’s ask these villagers, they should at least get us some information”.
The three of them walk over to the still chained up villagers, “oi! We’re with the huntsman covenant, mind telling me what’s exactly happening here?”.
The villagers remained silent, unease filled the air around them.
Hikaru crept toward the Captain, “sir, they could be too frightened-”
“We ain’t scared of nothin’ ya hear?” A small voice piped up from the group of imprisoned residents.
A little girl with black twin tails and piercing blue eyes said with a fleeting expression. She stared at the trio. “Our village is doing just fine… In fact… I’d be willing to welcome you in it”, the girl said with a smile.
The three stood in a daze, “What the hell?” They all thought.
“Excuse me little girl, but… I don’t exactly think your village is “fine”. We just killed a group of beasts that were about to eat you”, Captain Yakusuke said with a slightly annoyed smile.
He took a step back and looked to the sky, he proceeded to look back down at the girl and cycled through various hand gestures trying to understand what was happening.
“Ah shit… Mia, would you remove the chains from these people? Then we can start investigating. I have a feeling this is gonna be quite the headache”.
