Not even four hour had passed since the start of the tutorial, 33 people had died already. Those 33 people was either really unfortunate by accidentally stumble upon a strong beast or, like Sam, faced their trials alone and weren't strong enough to survive. While there might have been other factors at play, Sam didn't entertain those thoughts. He was too busy hunting and butchering Kabbits.
If someone were to see Sam now, they'd witness a human battling a Kabbit with his bare hands. Most would think he was crazy fighting a beast without a weapon since it's basically no different than a suicidal act. And usually, they'd be right. But not in this case.
Sam was deep in combat with a Kabbit using his bare hands, dodging every attack thrown at him with minimal movement and precise timing. Before doing this crazy stunt Sam thought to himself about his skill and how to raise it. There's a skill he want to try to improve to test his hypothesis.
[Unarmed Combat(Novice)]
-Even without the uses of Weapon, No warrior should felt helpless! Because the Warrior still can use their body as a weapon itself. Unlocks basic proficiency with Unarmed Combat and adds a miniscule bonus to the effect of strength and agility when using unarmed combat.
Even though it looks like a useless skill to other people, Sam thought otherwise. Most people will surely said 'just fight with a sword' or something along those lines upon seeing this skill. It's true that using a weapon is definitely more effective than using your bare hands to fight a literal monstrous beast but the sword provided by the system is not indestructible, if the weapon were to suddenly break during a fight you'll turned into a sitting duck or to simply said, you're cooked. Due to Sam continuous hunting and butchering beast for the first hour, he already noticed his sword is slowly breaking down. Sometimes later, when he fought a lvl 4 Kabbit his sword snap into two and he's forced to pummeled down the Kabbit which took quite a while. After that he thought that maybe he needs to hunt using the Kabbit horn now but immediately scrap the idea, it's better to raise his skill rather than relying on a weapon for now, in case something like this ever happened again in the future he will be ready. Starting from that point Sam steeled himself and basically said:
"...Fuck it we ball"
For the past two hours, Sam had been hunting beasts with nothing but his fists, pummeling every creature he encountered. He moved with purpose and precision, his unarmed combat skills steadily improving with each fight.
*SWOOSH!*

The Kabbit lunged at Sam, but instead of impaling him, it got stuck in a tree once again.
Without wasting any time, Sam began to pummel the creature. When his already numb hands started to feel sore, he switched to kicking it until it finally died.
*You have slain [Kabbit Cub - lvl 5 - Experience earned. 10 SP earned*
Exhausted, Sam sat down beside the lifeless Kabbit to catch his breath and recover his stamina. He closed his eyes for a moment, letting himself relax. After a few minutes, he felt somewhat rejuvenated enough to walk back to his camp, at least.
"Sigh... I gotta butcher this first before I go," Sam muttered, sounding weary. He took out his broken sword and began to butcher the beast. As he worked, a system notification popped up in front of him.
*Gained Skill* [Beast Butchering (Novice)]
-One of the most basic skill among countless Survival expert anywhere in the universe. This skill allows you to have an easier time harvesting any beast depending on your knowledge of the beast you're about to butcher. Passively gives a minor stamina regeneration effect when butchering any Beast.
Reading this, a smile spread across Sam's face.
"Another one of my hypothesis has proven to be true!" Sam said excitedly.
Back when he was planning his strategy in camp, Sam had hypothesized that to obtain new skills and improve existing ones, he merely needed to perform specific tasks repeatedly. It seemed tedious, but when he closely examined his skills, he noticed some were labeled as "Novice." He hypothesize that if he could enhance the quality of a skill through practice, perhaps he could also acquire new skills the same way. After a few hours of testing his theory, he finally gained a new skill related to harvesting beasts.
Obsessed with proving his hypothesis, Sam hadn't noticed how much he had leveled up. He hadn't bothered to read other system notifications or had simply forgotten them.
"Well, now it's time to see my status windo- HOLY SHIT I'VE GROWN THIS MUCH?!"

"Goddamn, call me Santa Clause because ho ho holy shit this is a big discovery!"
Not just one but two hypothesis is proven to be true! Basically, as long as one manage to do a certain thing until it reached a specific threshold it will gives the person a new skill or improve the current existing skill.
The changes from the upgraded skill effect is quite good, the bonus effect went from miniscule bonus to minor bonus. Sam would love to try out his sword skill to see how different it is but since his sword snap in half he can't afford to try it, at least for now. As for his unarmed combat, Sam still had no clue on how big the impact his upgraded unarmed combat was, another thing to test later.
Sam head is filled with so many fun things to look forward to but now he got a teeny tiny problem.
"Sigh.. what the fuck do I do with all these Kabbit meat?" Sam said.
In his camp, Sam had amassed a significant pile of Kabbit meat, and now he had even more fresh meat to add. He wasn't about to waste it, doing so would be both wasteful and disrespectful.
Sam mulled over the situation, searching for the best solution to his problem. Within five minutes, he had a good idea: trade. Since he needed equipment, especially a new sword, this could be the perfect opportunity to try bartering.
"Haha this should be fun" Sam thought, entertained by the idea in his head.
