Chapter 2: Can Someone Explain Please?

Chapter 2: Can Someone Explain Please?

*Tutorial will begin shortly on the [Redacted] Universe confirmed. All systems is online. Sequence commencing*

*Welcome to the tutorial. Preparing the necessity elements...*

Sam was still unconscious, floating in a dark void where even the smallest speck of light seemed absent, leaving him disoriented upon waking.

"What the hell? Where am I? Did I get kidnapped and dragged into some basement? And why am I floating? What's going on?!"

Realizing he was suspended in darkness, panic surged through Sam as he desperately scanned the void for any semblance of ground.

'Alright Sam deep breath, calm down. Let's try to analyze the situation first, it seems this is related to the mysterious sound before I got knocked out cold'

Sam remembered the moment before he passed out, he saw something in his consciousness. Tutorial of some sort is commencing, but the question is what does it even mean by tutorial? Did the world just end and somehow I got into the matrix to attempt the second chance to experience my entire life again but with tutorial? If that's the case, Sam will likely die out of embarrassment.

"Is the way I live my life that bad? I mean sure my life is far from perfect but I'm confident it's not that horrible." Sam muttered to himself.

Sam work hard trying to be self independent as soon as he reached the age of 18, he never do drugs or did any illegal activity, hell he never ever tried smoking in his entire life so what's seems to be the issue here?

As Sam lost in his own thoughts, several minutes passed, pretty much nothing change but he still felt his body numb along with a little headache pounding his head.

"Maybe... Maybe the answer is much more simple?" As he said this one thing came to mind. 'Aliens.'

Aliens, an extraterrestrial entities from outer space from somewhere in the universe, they're depicted in many movies as basically an invader or straight up kidnapper. If that's really the case here then Sam is cooked, the worst thing here if he's really got kidnapped by the Aliens is not the sweet embrace of death but if they chose to experiment on him like a guinea pig and not letting him die.

'...Perhaps those podcast talking about alien has been right all alon-'

*Preparation complete. Starting Tutorial introduction"

Suddenly, light began to fill the room, overwhelming Sam's eyes and momentarily blinding him. As the brightness intensified, he felt a rush of sensations returning to his body. The numbness that had gripped him started to fade, and the pounding headache that had plagued him was now completely gone.

Slowly but surely, his eyes adapted to the blinding light. As his vision cleared, he began to open his eyes and look around. The oppressive darkness that had enveloped the void was now replaced by a warm, glowing light. Yet, despite the change in illumination, he still found himself floating in the emptiness. There was no ground beneath him, no blue sky above, just an endless expanse of light.

"Uh... hello? Is anyone there?" Sam called out nervously, his voice echoing in the void.

He waited, but the silence was unbroken. Feeling a growing sense of unease, he tried again.

"I really appreciate you turning on the light, but can someone or something explain to me what's going on? Please?"

His plea hung in the air, unanswered. The light continued to bathe him in its warmth, but there was no response. Sam's discomfort grew as he floated alone in the vast, empty space, hoping for some kind of explanation or sign.

*Data acquisition complete. Attempt a connection... Success. Introduction commencing..*

*Welcome to the first phase of the tutorial. Starting Introduction. Feel free to ask the system questions*

"i know this might sounds rude but.. can you appear in front of me like a person? It's a bit uncomfortable having someone voice rang in my head.." Sam ask in the most polite way he possibly can.

*Processing... Permission granted. Commencing virtual avatar..*

In front of me, a tiny ball of blue light began to grow and morph, slowly taking the shape of a person. Within a few seconds, a figure stood before me. This being seemed to lack a definitive gender and had striking silver eyes, long silver hair, and a flat, emotionless expression.

"Greetings, human. As you requested, I have taken this form to communicate with you. In this introduction, I shall answer your questions regarding the tutorial and explain the circumstances of your new reality," the figure said. Its voice sounded mechanical, akin to an advanced AI, yet it was smooth and rigid in tone.

"First of all, welcome to this new chapter of your life. For reasons I cannot divulge here, your planet is currently undergoing an evolution. The inhabitants, particularly humans, are being given a trial to improve themselves through this tutorial. Do you have any questions before we move on to the specifics of the tutorial?" the figure concluded.

Sam's mind reeled with the information. Planet evolution? A new chapter in life? Did I really die? Damn it. He took a moment to sort his thoughts before asking the most basic question he could think of:

"What are you?"

"I am the system of the universe, tasked with supporting the growth of this new universe," it answered almost instantaneously.

"How can you help me, and in what way?" Sam pressed further.

"In this introduction, I can inform you about some features of the system, such as the Status Window, and will provide you with a class of your choice at the end of our session. To access your Status Window, you can simply say it or think of it, and it will appear," the figure responded without hesitation.

"Uh... Status Window?" Sam said, following the instruction.

Status

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Name: Sam Carlson

Race: Human

Class: N/A

Profession: N/A

Health Points (HP): 100

Mana Points (MP): 160

Stats

Strength: 7

Agility: 7

Endurance: 10

Intelligence: 7

Wisdom: 9

Sense: 10

Willpower: 9

Free points: 0

Titles

N/A

What an interesting display, Sam thought. It seems like this Status Window display all the things about him in detail, the highest stats is 10 points while the lowest stats is 7 points. If his assumption is right then 10 points is the highest stats for the average person, so he assumed that an average healthy human stats should be on a range from 5-10 points. Looking at his stats again, it can be said his stats is looking really good, all above 5.

As for his race in the Status Window it says human for obvious reason and that in itself is quite self-explanatory. He seemed to neither have a class nor profession. At this Sam sigh in relief and thought 'thank god it doesn't say burger flipper or something along those lines in my proffesion' even though Sam had this silly thoughts, he doubted that is what the system meant with those two.

No Titles seems about right, health and mana is looking quite good as Sam HP and MP being at 100 and 85, before he went any further he started to ask a question:

"System, can you explain to me in detail what these stats are? And what's the average stats for an average person?"

"No. The user need to explore the feature themselves and the average stats for the average person range between 5-10 points" the figure answer flatly.

'Hell yeah at least I got something right! Even though it's quite annoying for the system to not elaborate further about the stats but oh well'

Since the system refuse to elaborate further he tried to focus his attention on another thing other than stats and it's his race. He tap the holograms and a detailed explanation pop out immediately:

Human - The human race is known as one of the most balance existence in the universe, being able to walk many different way on their path to power. Stat bonuses per level +1 to all stats. 1+ free points.

pretty ordinary explanation and not really over the top. Something piqued my interest though because of a certain statement by the system "one of the most balance existence in the universe" if I interpret it correctly then there's other races exist somewhere excluding the human, what's it going to be? The race of elves? Orcs? Goblin like in those games? Man this is really exciting!

"Alright i'm done checking them out. System can you explain what's the meaning of class and proffesion please?" Sam said to the unmoving figure in front of him.

"Certainly, your class is chosen upon the near end of this meeting to help you when you're entering the tutorial. The class provided will be the starting point of your journey and help guide your path. A proffesion becomes available and can be obtained through performing associated tasks with said proffesion or simply by doing a certain event." The figure explained concisely.

"Now let's introduce you to the provided classes" the figure then waves his hand.

Before Sam open his mouth, he was interrupted by a screen appearing before him, showing some text. He quickly scan through the text and started to read the description of each classes one by one:

Warrior - Basic starting class. This class focus on a balance approach to combat, making this class quite versatile but not heavily specialized in anything. Stat bonuses per level: +1 Str, +1 End, +1 Agi, +1 Sen, +1 Free Point

Alright seems to be a pretty basic stuff, though I have to say I like this one already because of the versatility of the class and the balance stats.

Archer - Basic starting class. A class focus on ranged combat mainly using now and arrow with an optional weapon for melee using dagger and shorts swords. Stat bonuses per level: +2 Agi, +1 Sen, +1 Str, +1 End, +1 Free Point.

Hm.. an archer huh, this is an easy skip because I'm suck at archery.

Rogue - Basic starting class. A melee fighter focused on attacking swiftly and silently. Mainly uses weapon such as daggers and throwing weapons. Stat bonuses: +2 Agi, +1 Str, +1 End, +1 Int, +1 Free Point.

Would you look at that it's a stabby stab class, it's similar to an archer but still easily a class i'll skip because at the end of the day if I met strong ass enemy I surely will need to face it head on and can't hide. I can't just ask the enemy permission to hide in a fight it's ridiculous.

Caster - Basic starting class. The caster is focused on magical combat, favouring intelligence and wisdom over brawn in the battlefield. The basic class is non-attuned, meaning not yet specialized in any element or type of magic. Mainly uses staves, wands, and artifacts to amplify the magic power. Stat bonuses: +2 Int, +1 Wish, +1 Sen, +1 Will, +1 Free Point.

Not going to lie this class sound fun and besides everybody loves magic! But the issue here is I can't see myself specializing myself on this path. As much as I hate it I will skip this one also.

Healer - Basic starting class. As the name implied, this class can mend injuries, remove debuff, and buffing the power of themselves and their team. The class is weak in solo combat but powerful and tricky to deal with when surrounded by allies. Stat bonuses: +2 Wis, +2 Will, +1 Int, +1 Free Point.

Yeah, no. I'm not going to choose this, it's not my style sticking around people to fight.

Since Sam already made his mind comparing the pros and cons, he chose the Warrior class.

*You have chosen the Warrior class. Confirm?*

Sam give it an affirmation using his thoughts.

*You have obtained the Warrior class*

As soon as the notification rang in his head, he felt a weird sensation coursing through his body. Then after the sensation was gone completely he was greeted by several system notification.

*Gained Skill*: [Basic Swordsmanship (novice)]

-Warrior companion in life is the sword in his hand, severing their foe's lives. Unlocks basic proficiency with Swords and adds a miniscule bonus to the effect of strength and endurance when using close range weapon.

*Gained Skill* [Unarmed Combat(Novice)]

-Even without the uses of Weapon, No warrior should felt helpless! Because the Warrior still can use their body as a weapon itself. Unlocks basic proficiency with Unarmed Combat and adds a miniscule bonus to the effect of strength and agility when using unarmed combat.

*Gained Skill*: [Warrior Spirit (uncommon)]

-Among many ordinary person, your will and spirit is undoubtedly strong among the average person, Stand proud warrior. Allows the Warrior to Regen their health in combat and resist debuff depending on the Warrior Spirit. Passively gives a minor increase to the effect of Strength and Endurance on the Warrior body.

Woah that's a lot of text! Fortunately it seems like I chose the right class for me since it given me an uncommon skill, damn well done me of the past!

Anyway as he tried feeling his body, he immediately notice his body is a lot more firm and it felt like he's kind of more familiar (?) with his muscle connection now. As for the Warrior Spirit skill he can't really use it for now since he's not in combat but he knew instinctively that as long as his will stay unwavering he should be able to use the skill effect in combat.

As he's busy admiring and analyzing his class, the figure a.k.a system in front of him snap his finger.

*Snap!*

*Gained Skill*:[Identify (Novice)]

-Basic identification skill. The skill allows you to identify any object or creature you wish to identify.

"The time for introduction is coming to an end in 3 minutes, and you will be transported to the tutorial. Now, please acquire the equipment given before the end of the introduction session or you will not bring anything with you" It said with the same flat tone and then he snap his finger again.

*Snap!*

Swords, gloves, leather tunic, and a small satchel appear out of thin air. They all looked rather ordinary, the sword is a simple double edge sword you see in medieval times. The gloves is made out of leather same as the tunic, though the tunic is looking kinda ugly not gonna lie. As for the last item, the satchel, inside it he found 3 bottle with red liquid 'That's definitely a health potion alright' Sam thought.

Sam quickly grab the item and look at the floating figure in front of him.

"Wish me luck yeah? And um... thank you for being nice" he said, Sam felt excited for the new experience and he felt a bit melancholic as this is probably the last time he had a nice chat with someone.

"May your journey be fruitful, young Warrior" the figure said not showing any expression.

*Introduction session completed. Transportation initiated*
