Chapter 14: Yu (1)

Chapter 14: Yu (1)

'How dare that filthy rat hurt my brother!' Yu thought as he pursued the Meat Dealer through the dense forest.

Yu, an evolved rogue, chased the man with nine of his companions, five evolved rogues and four evolved archers. His mind was set on capturing the Meat Dealer and inflicting the most painful torture possible before his death.

When the Meat Dealer had held his brother hostage, Yu had to restrain himself from charging. He wasn't sure if the Meat Dealer's claim about an explosion skill was true, but the man's confidence made Yu hesitate. From the beginning of the standoff to its end, Yu gritted his teeth and waited.

The Meat Dealer demanded they back away, infuriating Yu. He feared his brother would be killed. The Meat Dealer somehow knew about their hidden archers, rendering them useless. As rage filled him, his brother signaled for them to retreat and drop their weapons.

Unwilling to leave his brother, Yu stayed hidden, ready to intervene. He wasn't overly worried, as his brother could read three seconds into the future and counter any attack. But to his shock, his brother couldn't avoid the Meat Dealer's kick and was sent flying, slamming into a tree.

Without hesitation, Yu and his team chased the fleeing Meat Dealer. He didn't believe the man could escape their grasp.

'I just hope the healers bring Mi back out of his bloodied state' He thought. Even remembering the scene where his brother became a bloody mess after slamming onto a tree made his heart throb in pain. Gritting his teeth, Mi will make sure to succeed on capturing the meat dealer and make him feel the worst pain possible.

As they chased him into an unexplored forest area, the environment became denser, hindering their movements. They moved stealthily, tracking the Meat Dealer's footsteps despite not having a dedicated scout.

The forest was eerily silent. Suddenly, one of Yu's men was caught in a snare. Before he could react, a wooden spear pierced the trapped man's head.

'Traps?! Since when?!' Yu thought, completely take by surprised.

"WATCH OUT FOR TRAPS! Yu yelled as he warily watching out for traps around him. Due to his focused get thrown into watching out for traps around him, he didn't notice his teammates condition. Snapping himself out as he made sure there are no traps around, he looked at his teammates and saw three more corpses with a wooden spear lodged deep inside their chest. Just like that, the total casualty results in 1 dead rogue and 3 dead archer.

'What the fuck is going on!? How many traps are there?!'

Yu quickly ordered an archer to use his detection skill. Meanwhile, he watched their surroundings like a hawk, sensing their attacker nearby. He soon spotted the Meat Dealer, carrying wooden spears, moving swiftly and blending into the environment like an assassin.

Yu immediately threw daggers at the figure, but they unfortunately missed. The Meat Dealer continued moving swiftly.

Before he tried to throw his dagger again for the fifth time, he heard another scream sound out. He immediately rushed to where the scream came from. The moment he arrived at the source of the scream, he saw a wounded rogue deep inside a pitfall trap filled with many sharp wooden spear at the bottom. With the help of another rogue nearby, the two of them dragged the man out of the trap.

The man bleeding heavily from the stab wounds. Seeing this, Yu didn't hesitate and grabbed a health potion out of his satchel and helped the man drink the potion. After the man drank the potion, his wounds are visibly healed, the recovering rogue suddenly open his mouth and said:

"I don't think the man is a mage, Captain Yu. We've been deceived."

"What is he then? Can't possibly a warrior or an archer, and definitely not a healer either."

"I don't know, captain Yu. But it's highly likely that he's a new type of evolution rogue class."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, Captain Yu. His ability to moves around swiftly and blending with the environment is definitely something an assassin would do. His class seemed to prioritize Endurance and Agility."

"Endurance and agility? What do you mean by that?"

"I got two of my daggers successfully lodged deep inside his left thigh and left shoulder, it usually should restricted his movement but he just continue to moves around with the same speed seemingly unbothered."

"Interesting.. since that's the cased, I'll be able to torture that bastard for a longer time then" Yu said, a wicked grin and eyes full of hostility showed on his face.

His initial plan of luring them into his hunting area had worked out splendidly. The area he was in was one of his usual hunting spots to kill Kabbit, filled with all sorts of traps.

'Well, it's some sort of disguised blessing at work, I guess?' Sam thought, having already taken four lives in just about five minutes since one of them stepped into one of his traps. After the fourth kill, he planned to create a distraction to divide their group further.

Sam moved swiftly through the forest, using the cover to circle his chasers like a beast hunting its prey. A while ago, he had gotten careless and stumbled while luring a rogue, momentarily falling. While he succeeded in luring the rogue into the pitfall trap as a distraction, he got hit by two daggers, one in his left thigh and the other in his left shoulder.

Sam looked at the daggers, considering whether he should pull them out. Without any health potions left from his last battle and unable to fully utilize his Warrior Spirit regeneration, he decided to leave them in. Removing them would cause him to bleed more, leaving a trail his pursuers could follow. The daggers were a minor inconvenience he could tolerate for now.

As he moved swiftly around, he saw his next target: a lone archer carefully scanning the air, likely using a detection skill.

Sam stopped and planted his feet firmly on the ground, gripping his wooden spear and pointing it toward the archer. Knowing the archer's high sense and agility would allow him to avoid a thrown spear, Sam waited for the right moment to catch him off guard. Gathering all his strength in his legs, he launched himself toward the archer.

*BOOM!*

SWOOSH

The sounds of Sam explosive charge at the archer filled the air. Without any chances to react to Sam's attack, the archer just stared at him while frozen in place. In no time, Sam appeared before the man and with a swift motion he pierced his head with his wooden spear.

The man immediately fell down due to the shockwave Sam generated from his explosive charge. He felt a little bit of pain from the daggers in his left leg but decided to ignore it, he left the corpse and went into deep inside the forest again, looking for his next prey.

'That's five down, four more to go.'
