Chapter 5: Stand Proud Kabbit

Chapter 5: Stand Proud Kabbit

As Sam ventured deeper into the forest, looking forward to hunting beasts, he noticed the area around him was far more "lively" than the previous parts he had explored. The forest teemed with the sounds of animal activity, punctuated by the cries of unidentified beasts. Despite this, the noise wasn't overwhelming; it was more like the symphony of a bustling ecosystem. If Sam were to describe it, he would compare it to walking through the Amazon Rainforest, but with the critical difference that this forest was filled with monstrous beasts ready to kill him at any moment if he was careless.

Sam was prepared to face or flee from most of the forest's inhabitants, but he knew better than to provoke higher-level beasts or draw the attention of a beast herd. As a level 1 warrior, he needed to plan ahead to avoid worst case scenarios.

After a few minutes of walking, Sam spotted some movement to his right. Noticing this, he drew his sword and gripped it firmly, ready for whatever was there. As he cautiously approached the rustling bush, the sound suddenly stopped, and everything went silent. His gut feeling warned him that whatever was in or beyond the tall bush had noticed his presence.

He took a deep breath, relaxing his body while putting his mind on high alert, ready to counter or dodge any sudden attack. No sooner had he done this, the tip of a white horn emerged from the bush, pointing straight at him. His danger sense flared up, screaming at him to dodge.

*Swoosh!*

The white-horned beast lunged at him like an arrow, covering the 15 meters between them almost instantly. Fortunately, Sam had anticipated this attack and narrowly dodged it by leaping to his left. As the beast charged through the spot where he had been standing, he got a good look at it. It was a Kabbit, slightly larger than the one he had taken down before.

'Identify'

[Kabbit Cub - lvl 5]

'four level higher than me but I predict that this Beast attack pattern might be simple enough for me to take it down. It seems this beast heavily relied on its horn to attack their prey.'

Before engaging the beast directly, Sam decided to test his hypothesis about its attack pattern. If he was correct, the information could prove valuable in the future. The Kabbit wasted no time and lunged at him again. Sam dodged to the side, successfully avoiding the attack. He repeated this maneuver a few more times, confirming his observations.

The Kabbit's attack pattern was simple, akin to a bull's charge. It couldn't attack continuously; there was a brief cooldown after each lunge. Once it committed to a charge, it couldn't change direction or stop its momentum immediately. After coming to a stop, it would simply lunge again.

'Data collection success!' Sam thought to himself giddily. After that he immediately calm himself down and focus at his opponent, even if he already knew this beast attack pattern he rather not be careless in a fight, better be safe than sorry.

*Kriekk!* The beast cried angrily, stomping its foot on the ground.

"Sorry for making you wait, beast. Now, let me end your misery." Sam said, unsure if the beast could understand him but saying it anyway. Strangely, the beast seemed even more pissed off, but he didn't have time to ponder that.

The Kabbit lunged at him again, this time with slightly faster speed. However, Sam was one step ahead. He dodged to the side, and the beast rammed into a large tree behind him.

*BOOM!*

The beast missed its target again but was far from giving up. It still believed it would eventually impale the human with its horn. As it tried to pull its horn from the tree, it got stuck. The horn was lodged deep, making it nearly impossible to be free quickly.

"Stand proud Kabbit, you're strong." Sam said to the beast stuck in the tree. Quickly with one swift motion he strike down and beheaded the Kabbit.

It's been awhile since he opened the status window. It's pretty nice seeing it had grown even though just a little bit of improvement. Overall his stats is balanced all around except for Intelligence as the lowest stats among all of them. Sam didn't really have the need to increase his intelligence stat, so adding the free points into it is practically useless. As for the increase in his strength and endurance stats, Sam could feel the difference clearly. His muscles felt stronger and more defined, a noticeable improvement in their firmness. Additionally, he felt a surge in vitality, a distinct sensation of being healthier and more robust than before.

Anyway, now it's time to butcher the Kabbit. Sam left no waste on the beast and took most of the part he deemed valuable like the big white horned, Kabbit meat, and Kabbit skin, he used the skin to store the loot since he didn't have a big backpack on him so he need to improvised a little bit.

After he's done stuffing all the loot in the Kabbit skin, he start to search for a water source. Fortunately, before the battle with the Kabbit Sam heard the sounds of running river nearby, so he head toward the sounds and to no surprise he found the river after a few minutes of walking.

Sam set a little camp nearby the river, then begin to scavenged a few dried leaves and tree branches. When he returned with the materials he noticed one thing is missing.

"So... How the hell am I gonna drink water? There's no way I'm gonna drink it from the river as is, hell no." Sam muttered.

Since Sam didn't have the utensil to cook the water, he needs to find something to cook it or else he's afraid he's gonna die from diarrhea because of drinking the river water. As he thought about it for a few minutes he finally find the solution. He reached inside his small satchel and took out a potion.

'I can use the bottle but if I just throw the healing liquid away it's seems like a waste. Even if I drink it I doubted it will do something since my health is full. What to do, what to do..'

"You know what, I'm just gonna marinade the meat with this potion. I'm not sure if it's gonna do anything but meh whatever, i don't want to waste my time thinking about it"

He immediately took out the Kabbit horn out and pour the health potion into the Kabbit skin, After that, he began the arduous task of making a fire. And boy, It took him quite a while around half an hour, but finally, Sam succeeded. The flames flickered to life, casting a warm glow.

"Damn those guys on Jutube! making it look like so easy to start a fire, goddamn my hands is sore"

After cursing the Jutube guy by mumbling to himself, he began to boil the water using the potion bottle and then cook the Kabbit meat by roasting it over the fire. When everything is done, without hesitation Sam devour the roasted Kabbit meat. The meat itself taste no different than a rabbit meat but with a bit of weird medicine like taste, the medicine like taste probably came from the potion but he didn't mind it much and finish everything, stuffed himself full.

As he's sitting down, he thought about the next plan on his list in more detail. Hunting beast is good for experience and food but apart from that what else? He thought about for e few minutes, he got something, materials. The Kabbit big white horn is a good material if he thought about it, the horn itself is capable of withstanding the momentum generated by the Kabbit and manage to pierce through the tree quite easily, even back then when Sam tried to butcher it from the Kabbit is not an easy feat it took him about 5-10 minutes to remove the horn. If he can somehow turn the materials he found into something usable like a weapon then...

Sam head is filled with so many idea and plans at the moment to the point his excitement grown even stronger than before. Not able to hold himself back from the excitement, he got up and walked through the forest to look for the beast once again.
