I will have to figure out how to earn more points, only by being the best can I shut up those that look down on me for being a legacy student.
“Missing class means you won’t earn those 5 points, besides teachers are allowed to take points from students as a mean of punishment for bad behavior, I hope you will remember my rules so I won’t be forced to penalize anyone”.
So, definitively no snacks.
“Well, now that we are done with that explanation, it’s time for the lesson to begin. You must be wondering what this class is about, to answer that question, I believe Pokemon Training 101 to be the most important course you will have during your stay at the academy, why? Because I’m going to impart all the basic knowledge you will ever need to become a good pokemon trainer, those of you who excel in this class will excel as trainers no matter what you end up doing in your future”.
Intructor Knight seems very passionate about her subject, even with her strict tone, I doubt there is anyone here who isn’t excited at the prospect to excel in this class.
“What knowledge is the most important for you to have as a pokemon trainer? Raise your hands if you want to answer”, she looks around the room meeting eyes with the hesitant students, until a white-haired girl raises her hand and nervously speaks.
“W-we need to know about different types of pokemon”.
“Yes, you need to improve your understanding of pokemon, but is that the most important knowledge you need? The answer is no. Anyone else?”
Some other students try answering the question, one guy talks about training methods, some other girl says is all about understanding your own team members.
“That’s not it either, think, why do you want to be pokemon trainers?”
I wonder, I just want to become strong and travel around the world seeing everything out there. Do I need to become a pokemon trainer to reach that goal? Of course, you can’t explore the world without pokemon, they are essential to our lives. Realization hits me, is that it? I raise my hand.
“Mr. Santos, what is your answer?”
“I believe pokemon are essential to our lives, not only for us as trainers but for our society to properly function, I just can’t imagine our world without pokemon, so we need to understand uhm… the relationship? The connection between people and pokemon”.
For the first time she smiles and nods her head towards me.
“Good answer, in simple words, our society is built upon the collaboration between humans and pokemon, that’s the reason pokemon trainers are essential in our world, it isn’t about battles and competitions, those are the most well-known professions but we need trainers in every area, from agriculture to the different medical fields, that’s why we will start by learning about our history, how humans and pokemon became so intrinsically linked to one another”.
