“Teeeeeddi”, I watch as Teddy yawns while laying on the floor, for some reason he behaved really well with Aline, but once she started working on Flavio’s Hawlucha, Teddy went back to his carefree lazy self.
When we were doing the analysis, it felt like it took a long time, but it was no more than ten minutes, so twenty minutes later both Vulpix and Hawlucha were done and we thanked Aline Joy for all the training suggestions.
Leaving the Pokemon Center, I noticed a classmate waiting outside, when our eyes met he smirked and raised his hand pointing at me, “Santos! Battle me”.
“Who is this guy?”, asked Melody.
“He’s Jeremy Fox, a peer of ours”, answers Flavio.
“Why should I battle you?”, I ask while staring at Jeremy.
“What? Are you afraid of me? Of course you are”, he says, “It doesn’t matter, it annoys me how much attention the teachers give you just because you are a legacy, but look at you and that silly plush toy of yours, can it even battle?”
What the hell is wrong with this dude? Some delusional guy right here, I look at Teddy and he doesn’t even care about being insulted, he is just licking his paws, “I don’t even know who you are”.
He looks offended, “How dare you pretend not to know me? My name is Jeremy Fox, future owner of Kanto’s Fox Industries and pokemon master”, he says as if it was common knowledge.
“So?”, I ask.
“Oh… I get it, you think because I’m not a legacy student you are better than me”, he glares, “Just because my father didn’t study here doesn’t mean he is weaker than your father, in fact, he is probably stronger seeing as your dad just disappeared out there, and it’s probably dead never to be found, right?”.
That’s it, I clench my fist, “You wanted a battle, well you got it, let’s go”.

I start walking towards the Battle Center, with my friends following behind, and the arrogant asshole by my side smirking.
It doesn’t take long for us to reach the building, inside some of the graduates are managing the reception lobby and we must register for the battle, the assign us to field 17.
Standing in the field, it’s just a regular one.
“How many points do you want to lose?”, Jeremy asks with that smile of his growing larger, I so want to punch him.
“How many points you got? I’m ready to go all in”, I answer.
Flavio, Melody and Jeremy look shocked, these battles are supposed to be for one or two points at most, who is going to risk being last place in the rankings, meaning Jeremy’s smile turn into a frown.
“Okay, how about 25? I don’t want to leave you with nothing”, he says confidently.
“25 it is”, I use my pokedex to issue the official challenge and set the bet to 25 points.
There is a graduate acting as a referee, he too looks at us with some doubt in his face but says nothing about it, “Are you ready?”.
“Yes”, we both answer at the same time.
“This is a 1v1 battle between Jeremy Fox and Gabriel Santos, trainers release your pokemon”, says the graduate.
Teddy walks from behind me and steps into the field, he might act without a care most of the time but he knows I’m holding back my anger and I know he doesn’t show it but he is angry too.
“Go Champ!”, a blue reptilian pokemon appears on the field, it’s a dragon type the same size as Teddy, but it looks way more imposing in the field as it spits a small sized ember to the ground.
Bringing out my pokedex I scan the dragon type:
Bagon, a Dragon-type Pokemon, possesses an unwavering dream of soaring through the vast expanse of the sky. Fueled by this relentless aspiration, it fearlessly launches itself off towering cliffs in desperate attempts to fly. The repeated falls have forged its head into a formidable weapon, comparable in strength and resilience to tempered steel. Despite its diminutive stature, Bagon's body is a concentrated powerhouse of muscles. This compact physique grants it exceptional strength, allowing it to deliver devastating head-butts with the force of an iron battering ram.
I can understand the reason this guy was so confident, Dragon types are very strong even in their infant stage and the fact he the small dragon seems to be willing to hear his commands says a lot about his skills as a trainer.
Looking at Teddy I notice he is looking intimidated by his opponent, but I know he is faking it, he loves to trick his enemies into underestimating him.
“The first pokemon to make the opponent faint or surrender is the winner, begin!”, shouts the referee.
“Champ use Bite”, Jeremy commands and the Bagon quickly starts tunning towards Teddy.
“It’s alright Teddy, use Baby-Doll Eyes”, his eyes glow with a pink color as Bagon reaches him, biting Teddy’s arm but clearly hesitating to apply enough pressure to deal damage, “Play Rough”, as I say the words Teddy whole body begins to emit a pinkish white aura until it expands covering both of them and I can hear the sound of Bagon crying in pain.
Disbelief appears on Jeremy’s face, “retreat backwards and use Ember”, the Bagon somehow manages to escape from Teddy’s reach but his body is covered in bruises and the small dragon looks very hurt, but it follows his trainer’s commands and spits a small ember towards Teddy. The attack doesn’t have enough power and barely damages my partner, who runs forward and uses Fury Swipes, making the opponent faint.
“Winner is Gabriel Santos and Teddiursa”, shouts the graduate.
I look towards Jeremy, who is applying a potion to his pokemon to then return it to the pokeball. When he looks at me I can see the anger in his eyes, “I will remember this”, he turns around and leaves the room.
Teddy is in front of me raising his arms for me to lift him, so I pick him up and hug him in celebration, “You were amazing”.
