36. Becky

I let myself be led to the new dimension. Appearing in the grey space, seeing only shapes, no color. After a single blink, a girl appeared before me, and I knew it was Becky, her back facing me.

"What do you want, this time?" She asked, with a thick Irish accent.

"I asked to meet you." I stated. She spun to see me. "I've been told that you understand the consequences of you staying here."

She nodded her head twice, "so you're here to kill me? To stop what's happening." She seemed resigned to a fate I wasn't told about.

"No, I'm here to offer you a job." I tell her. Her head jerks up, a light of hope appears in her eyes, plainly visible, even in this grey melancholy.

"If you aren't present on the three dimensions collapsing for the next event, the collapse starts over. And it won't restart until a new person with your abilities is born." I tell her plainly.

"I am able to travel between dimensions, and I am in need of a guard who can travel with me." Before I can finish my statement, she is on her knees, begging me to take her. I simply nod, and the new administrator appears.

"You are now a part of her abilities, Becky. I hope this lightens your burden." He says to her. I will both of us back to my bedroom at Tabitha's.

Becky's vibrant red hair and verdant eyes stand out in contrast to everything else in the room. The administrator hands me an envelope, and it's all of Becky's identification. Cards and paperwork for here and Highest One's dimensions, a bracelet for Patty's dimension, and a note that the bracelet will work in Brat's dimension as well.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

I look at everything quickly, then attach the bracelet to her wrist.

"This is the first time I've seen you in color." She says to the man.

"It won't be the last. Sierra, change her age modifier, she won't live long enough otherwise."

I open the window for her, and notice her age modifier is ×4. I promptly set it to zero, and reset her age to 22, the age on all her paperwork, then select the 'keep healthy' check box.

"Welcome to my home, cousin." I smile at her, as I hand over her other paperwork. Tabitha opens the bedroom door.

"Food is ready, ladies. Come and get it. Administrator, Patty told me to say 'buzz off' to you, and remind you she is older."

He nods, and then disappears from my room.

"Now, Patty said your identity was our cousin. Welcome home, and thanks for this." Tabitha says to her.

I set my hand on her arm, and her Verdant eyes take in every feature of her face. "You only need to stay away until the first week of February. And then I can let you go back, without your presence causing damage. This isn't the end of your old life." She nods.

She takes a deep breath, as she exhales her body seems to relax. The stress she kept herself under evaporated. Relief was the only way to describe her.

The next few hours were just minor discussions of who I was, and what role she would be taking on.

"Can I borrow her?" 'Dad' asked. "I want to use my dimension to teach her how to use her abilities, as well as get her into a better position for her new role."

"If it means helping my home, I'll do it." She said.

"I want to teach you how to use your abilities to, not only protect her, but also to help her in her other roles. It will feel like decades have passed, but it will only take a week."

Becky only nods, and the pair disappear.
