Once, From the Past
19. Black Friday

19. Black Friday

I was shaken awake. The excited look on Tabitha's face told me I was going with her, even if I protested. I groaned, resigned to my fate for the day. I looked through my closets for a warm-ish outfit, and found the one I had worn when first arriving to Patty's dimension, and applied it.

Tabitha's expression as I got out of bed told me I screwed up.

"Oh; that's just not fair." She said in shock, while feeling the fabrics I was now wearing.

I found a makeup look, and hairstyle that I thought looked like it would take a lot of work, and applied them at the same time.

"Now, you're just showing off." She smiled.

"No, showing off would be this one." I answered, as I applied a full, matching jewelry set. A ring on each index finger, bracelet on both wrists, a heavy, but tasteful necklace, two pair of earrings and a broach. Each piece studded with princess cut Topaz, set in silver.

"Would you like a set?" I smile, "I mean, if you don't like Harry Winston, I think I can find a Cartier to your liking, or do you want to wear the Tiffany set I wore yesterday?"

She just stared for a second.

"Did I break you?" I chuckle. As I slide the back of my hand on her cheek. I applied a pit of pressure, and she moved. I started putting the Tiffany jewelry set I had worn yesterday, on her.

"Sierra, how much is this worth?" She finally asks.

"The window says the entire set you're wearing came out just before Halloween, so it's this season, it's current retail price, just for what you're currently wearing is sixty five thousand dollars."

"I am wearing a car." She replies.

"This set also has a diadem, but since the screen said only five were made, I didn't wear it. It's retail alone is as much as the rest of the set."

"And the Winston you're wearing?"

"It says it's from last season, and valued a twenty-two thousand." I open a drawer, and then pull the wooden boxes for the two sets out of the window's closet. "Oh! The box is numbered, and it looks like I have one with a Diadem."

"Sierra, what's the number on the box?"

"A series of zeros, and the letter P, then my full name under the number."

"And all this time, I thought you had been wearing Clair's costume jewelry, but no; your wearing personalized, numbered sets worth cars."

"So you wanted to go shopping?" I grin. "I'm ready."

"Not going to paint the nails?" She asked.

"I haven't ever used that feature." I admit, as she goes to her room to change.

I select a button that says to match manicure, and pedicure. Then select French for the style, with gel coating, then I switched the top colors Red and green for each finger and toe, with the tips being a pale blue that reminded me of snow in photographs. I applied it as Tabby came back, ready for the morning.

I hold out my hands flat, and ask her what she thinks.

"You are going to get asked who did your nails, a lot, today."

"Should I say my Dad?" I smile. She laughed, and said I should go with that.

As we get in the car, she asks something I wasn't expecting.

"What are we getting Dad? I get you hand tools, but I doubt he wants them this year," she backs out of the driveway. "And I'm not buying for Brian, and the only other person I want to get for is you, and you're impossible to get for." She says while lifting the pendant she is wearing.

"I want music. Like physical records, just not Rap."

"Alright, we'll look at record players today, and I'll get some music for you when you aren't with me."

"That's fair. I am going to need Patty's help to get you what I want to."

"What kind of help?"

"Measurements. Like, real personal measurements. I want to get you some tailored outfits that you can wear at work."

"I'm a Florist, I don't need tailored outfits."

"You say that while wearing jewelry from Tiffany's."

The day was over by one in the afternoon. We ended up getting 'Dad' a scroll saw, and a table sander. Since I had used similar tools at work for years, I knew which ones to stay away from. Well, they aren't hand tools, they're bench tools.

Tabitha did buy me a turn table, and we looked through the records for a while. She was right. Almost every woman who saw my nails asked where I had them done, and looked appalled when I said my dad did them for me.

Well it's not really a lie, Patty gave me the outfit window, and is currently acting as my Dad.

I took my shoes off at the door, and hung my coat on Tabby's coat rack. Then sat down on the couch. I chuckled to myself, feeling mischievous.

"Tabby! Help!" I yell while laughing.

"With what?" She starts giggling while seeing me laughing.

"Can you take my socks off, I can't reach." I say while stretching my feet away, still giggling.

She grabs my ankle and starts tickling the bottom of my feet making both of us cut up for a while. Once she, eventually, got my socks off while giving me a tight lipped smile.

"Matching, Mani-peti. Nice. Show off."

"Nuh-uhh. It's not matching, the colors are backward, see!"

She threw my socks in my face, and went to the kitchen. I followed behind and got some leftover turkey, and green beans.

After eating, and cleaning up, I took a shower, and put on fleece pajamas. Then sat down on the couch.

"Not leaving tonight?" Tabby asks.

"I was thinking of trying a new place in the morning."

"Be safe, and come back."

"I'll do my best, Sis."

"You know you can talk to me, and you know you can quit at any time."

"Yeah. I know you may not understand how my mind works, but I know I can talk to you. I only have you." I tell her.

"Yeah, and I'm not fully happy with that. You need to date again." She puts her finger up for me to stay quiet.

"I don't expect it right now. I don't care if it's a guy, a girl, or several of each, you need to at least think about it. Even if the answer to yourself is to wait some more. Understand?"

I nod my head as I bite into another chocolate chocolate chip cookie.

"I don't want to do anything until Sierra would have turned Eighteen."

"I said date! Not get laid!" She shouts while letting out a nervous chuckle. Leaving the room.
