CHAPTER 36: A PAINFUL DECISION(PART 1)

"Gan, is there any way to learn more about the ways to use the aura in this world?"

Mrit turned to and asked Gan. As he is determined to use the power of sun and not the power of death, and to use it efficiently, he has to learn how to use the uurja.

"I want to know how to use this uurja thing. Any idea where we should head first?"

In this room, Mrit believed that it was only Gan who can actually tell him what he wants to know, so he turned to him for the answer. Seeing that Mrit asked him first, Gan hid his intentions and spoke.

"Well, it might disappoint you, but there is only one place the where you can learn more about the uurja and that is the holy kingdom of the Goddess."

“Hmm?”

On this, Mrit raised his eyebrows, suspecting Gan’s word. Gan too concealed his grin but was caught by Rick, but Rick just remained silent.

'Take this. No matter how powerful you were in past, you cannot take on the holy kingdom or the goddess with your current state. So what will you do Mrit? Hahaha!!'

In his mind, Gan started to curse Mrit and laughed at his hurdle. He was excited to see the angry and helpless face of Mrit after knowing that the only way he can get powerful is inside his enemy's territory.

Gan was so looking forward to his Mrit's defeated face that he forgot to conceal his happy face and looked at Mrit only to be frozen solid.

"Y-You, w-w-why are you l-laughing like that?"

Far from his expectations, Mrit was smiling while looking at him that it raised Gan’s hairs. Seeing him like that, Gan thought that he got caught, but it was some other reason that made Mrit smile like that.

"Why wouldn't I be? I have someone here who knows very well someone who can use uurja very...very well. Aren’t I correct, Gan?"

“W-What…Who?”

Seeing the devilish smile on Mrit's face, he remembered the time when he was killed by Mrit. Sweating, Gan gulped the saliva on his mouth down the throat as he knew that something bad Mrit is about to do.

"You, take me to your king, your former master, Kirn Tej. I will learn about uurja from him."

“YOUUU!!! HOW DARE YOU!! HOW DARE YOU SPEAK OF MY MASTER”S NAME!!!”

In a fit of rage, Gan tried to do something, anything to Mrit, to harm him at all cost. But because he is now reduced to a mere decapitated head, he couldn’t do anything to him. Instead, he resorted to simple biting.

“Don’t…you dare… say my master’s name!! *Bite!*”

With how much power he could accumulate, Gan plunged towards Mrit and tried to bite his face, but he was caught on mid-air by Pat.

“L-Let go of me, Pat. You bastard, it wasn’t enough to kill his both sons that you are now targeting him! Do you have no shame?!”

Gan tried to bite Pat too, but realizing that Pat is nothing a bony skeleton now, he gave up and instead tried to break free from his hold. The fire inside his eyes didn’t died down as he glared at Mrit, wanting to know what his intentions are.

Mrit, seeing Gan this much angrier tried to explain himself.

“Relax. From your point of view, I maybe a ruthless bastard who killed the sons of your master, you and your whole guild but why don’t you understand my perspective? Even though I have shown you mine perspective?”

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

“What?”

“What, you don’t remember? The supposedly dream I showed you, did you forget it already?”

After that, Gan remember the last night where Mrit showed him the dream. Remembering that, he realized what was Mrit talking about.

“I created that world from your and your young master, Ashv’s older brother’s memory. I killed them in self-defence. I also showed you my perspective as to what Ashv would do when his secret would have been revealed and what you should have done to him”

“But even after that, you still don’t get it.”

To further explain his point, Mrit then touched a ring on his middle finger, and from it an egg appeared. Placing his right hand on the egg, he then used the sun’s embrace.

“Sun’s embrace!!”

Using embrace, Mrit recovered the aura surrounding the egg. After which, he carefully put it down on the sofa and showed to Pat, Rick and Gan.

“A phoenix’s egg? But how?”

Shocked, Rick asked Mrit. In their world, even the occurrence of a phoenix is so rare, so to get your hands on a phoenix’s egg is even more of a shocker.

“I got this egg from your young master Ashv who accidently ‘teleported’ me to his hideout in the forest. Guess he was waiting for the mother phoenix too. Too bad, he met me.”

“T-This… it can’t be… you are lying!!” But no matter what, Gan still supported Ashv. He still cannot believe that his young master can really stoop so low. Left with no choice, Mrit finally used his skill and showed his memory of Ashv after which, everything became so clear to Gan.

“Now, I have nothing to prove and no proof left. It was you and your master who let that child run rampart and now he turned into the monster I killed. Let’s side line me for a moment Gan and think about the other heroes who tried to speak against the Goddess. Your young master killed them, the animals of the forest, he exported them to the empire and the kingdom. You want to know more, then see.”

Gan hasn’t fully recovered from one shock that Mrit shocked him for a second time. Activating the rest of the storage rings, a mountain of coins started to be build up and coins continuously poured out of the rings. Seeing the overwhelming amount of coins, Gan face turned to horror and paled.

“You think these coins are something that is earned through good and hard work? No, probably not. Absolutely wrong. Though I was not able to read his memories, even I can tell that this mountain is not the something that can be earned this easily.” Looking at the pile of coin, Mrit said so.

Even Pat and Rick were so shocked that their jaws kept dangling.

“C-Captain, you said there was shortage of funds for the guild, but what is… this?”

Rick asked Gan because from months, their guild’s situations was so dire. Even the basic necessities were difficult to afford, so to see this amount of coins in front of him surprised Rick.

“I-I…”

“What you should have done in your dream and in real life was to pluck out the weed that is damaging Kirn Tej’s and Ajay kingdom’s reputation as well as Boulder’s reputation, Ashv, as soon as possible.”

Storing all the gold away, Mrit addressed Gan. He knew that the love he had for both the brother’s was abundant, but that love made one brother rotten to the very core and one incapable to make hard decisions.

Mrit had nothing left to speak, so he addressed Pat and Rick to take Gan out.

“Pat, Rick. Take him and go collect all the weapons and food supply you have. Leave nothing. Take these rings to collect them and then wait for me at the exit.”

“Yes Sir.”

Picking up Gan, the three were about to exit the room when Mrit said something.

“And Gan. Remember, Kirn Tej is not you owner anymore. I want to have it ingrained deep within you mind. I can free you now from this dead head of yours but to replace you, I will not hesitate to kill even your former master. Understand?”

“….Yes.”

After that, the three exited the room, leaving Mrit and Totopa behind.

“Phew! One thing’s done.”

Plopping on the sofa, Mrit exhaled and let his body relax sink in the sofa. Totopa, who was on the floor climbed on Mrit’s shoulder rested on it.

“The egg’s doing pretty good too. But when will it hatch is the question?”

Holding the egg in his hands carefully, Mrit inspected the egg thoroughly for any anomaly, but found nothing abnormal.

Fully inspecting it, Mrit stored it back in the storage ring and looked beside him, at Totopa.

“I guess we have to wait, right Totopa?”

“Topaaa!”

Hearing Totopa’s voice, Mrit closed his eyes and took a deep breath as he contemplated on something in his mind. After a while, he opened his eyes and held Totopa and put him the table.

“Totopa, there is something we have to talk now.”

With a heavy face, Mrit looked at Totopa hoping that his decision doesn’t turn out to be wrong here.
