“Crackle!”
“!!”
Slash!
With a swift slash, the figure cut off the head of the captain.
“...?!”
Without realizing what happened to him, the captain had a terrified look as his head flew off.
The head then rolled down and came near the foot of the men who were protecting him.
“W-What?”
Turning back, they found the headless torso of their captain, and then slowly looked down.
“Hiik!!”
They found the head of their captain with a horrified look looking at them.
“H-How the h-hell?”
Slowly, their eyes shifted to the figure that stood behind the now fallen torso of their captain.
Crackle! Crackle!
“Hiik!!”
A skeleton with hollow eye sockets looked at the men in front of them with a bloodied sword in his hands.
Scared, they tried to attack the skeleton but there was just one thing they forget. Before they could do anything, a beam of light appeared from behind and cut through their back.
“What the hell? You all are spacing out just because you saw a skeleton? How did you all become adventurers?”
Standing with a grin on his face, Mrit held the sword aura of the sun or the manifested sword of salvation in his hands, looking at the men menacingly.
He then took a stance and prepared to attack the men again.
“Now, show me what you all have got.”

“Che! These are also runts. Does this guild not have a single decent member within it? Only the guild leader and his brother gave me a tough time.”
Wiping away the blood on his face away, Mrit looked at the disaster he had caused. Surrounding him lie the ten guild member’s bodies, all dead.
Some have their heads chopped off, some torsos, and some got burnt. The fight that ensued here was not a fight, but rather a one-sided massacre.
“Ptoey! Everyone is useless.”
Deactivating the sword, Mrit then picked up a crate and sat on top of it, while looking down at the masterpiece of his that he just created.
“Topa?”
From outside, Totopa came inside followed by a severely damaged skeleton.
“Did you finish everything outside?”
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
“Topa!”
Nodding, Totopa then jumped up on Mrit’s lap and sat there, also looking at the masterpiece of Mrit.
“Now then, shall we begin? Skeleton, bring me that head.”
Mrit then ordered the skeleton that came with Totopa. The damaged skeleton then picked up the head that Mrit pointed at and brought it to Mrit.
Mrit who then held the head got another idea as he looked down at the skeleton in front of him with a curious gaze.
“Very good. But before we begin, shall we repeat that experiment?”
Stretching his arm, Mrit then uses the Sun’s Embrace on the damaged skeleton.
“C-Crackle!!”
The skeleton trembled as it got covered by the aura of the sun, but surprisingly this time, the skeleton didn’t turn into dust. While the skeleton was trembling, a window popped in front of Mrit.
[Congratulations!]
[A summon of yours has successfully endured the Sun’s power.]
[The skeleton can now evolve to skeleton soldier/mage. Link a soul to the skeleton to commence evolution.]
“Hmm? This is new for me. What is with this evolution? Oii system, explain.”
Never in the past had he ever heard or encountered about the evolution of an undead for once. Now that he is facing this new issue, he called the system for guidance.
[It is what it means. You need to allocate a soul inside the skeleton to evolve it. Till now, they were just like puppets that were controlled by the power of death. But if you give the skeleton a soul, it will gain intelligence.]
“Then isn’t it harmful to me? It can betray me if it wishes to?”
Mrit cautiously asked the system as an undead who gained the intelligence and consciousness would surely backstab his master who eternally trapped him in that state.
[It cannot. The power of death bounds it to you. The bond with you will never let them do anything to you. And it will be beneficial for you too as the skeleton will now remain with you permanently.]
“You mean it will not turn to dust if I were to summon another skeleton?”
[Yes owner.]
“Then isn’t that a lottery for me, but-”
Hearing that he will not have to summon a new skeleton every time a skeleton dies, Mrit certainly looked happy, but instead of enjoying the fact that he will be able to keep the skeleton around him, and a stronger one at that, Mrit asked another question.
“But then why did something like this never happen back on earth?”
Back on earth, Mrit never experienced something like this. Whenever he killed anybody, the body automatically turned into his minions, following him. At that time, he never heard of this or ever experienced it.
The system, understanding Mrit’s confusion then spoke.
[That was because you were death itself at that time. The master of what is not life. Now, you are just a dark magician. At that time, your presence alone could make the fallen bodies stand by themselves. Now you have to summon a skeleton by yourself. ]
[You were death itself, so the dead were already at their pinnacle when they came under you. But now, at the lowest point of your power, you have to manually install a soul within the skeleton to have it evolve.]
“That...I cannot argue. Those undead of mine were more powerful than when they were alive. But then again, I have never seen anyone on earth who can raise the dead like me, so I have nothing to say.”
On earth, some dark magicians can certainly summon skeletons, but that was the best they could do.
The power Mrit displayed after dying was beyond the capabilities of awakened and because of that, they all were wiped out.
With the power to control a whole army on his own and having power unrivaled there, Mrit was the top predator, so he never had a chance to gradually progress.
“Then this is the first time that this evolution of a skeleton happened here?”
[Yes and you are the first to achieve it.]
“Then what are we waiting for.”
Knowing that he himself has achieved this alone in this world, Mrit felt assured as he wouldn’t have to fight a man with similar powers.
‘I don’t want to face an army of the dead as of right now. I know how nasty a necromancer can get.’
“Well, let’s check this out first.”
Placing his left hand on the skull of the skeleton, Mrit then transferred the soul he found most clean within him.
The stigma of the dark sun shined darkly and then, the skeleton was enveloped in a dark aura as it trembled slightly.
The aura then slowly returned back to Mrit. The skeleton that got the soul placed inside of him now got a little taller and it's boned got refined.
An orb of energy formed in the middle of his chest, glowing blue and covered in dark energy. The glow in his eyes turned blue as he slowly looked up at Mrit and spoke.
“Who... are you?”
