Sitting beside the body, Mrit then proceeds to absorb and read the memories of the dead guild leader.
Mrit sat there for about half an hour as he tried to stabilize the rushing memories in his brain. Slowly, he opened his eyes.
“Tch... This pain!! I still am not able to process the whole memories. Arghhh... This pain!!”
Mrit bend down and trembled because of the extreme headache for some minutes. The process of absorbing and reading the vast memories took a toll on his new, weak body.
“Never am I doing this shit again. Not on someone who is higher level than me. Arghh!! Where is the fruit I kept?”
From one of the storage rings, Mrit hurriedly took out a fruit and chewed on it, devouring it like a hungry beast.
After a while, the glucose kicked in and finally relieved him of the endless pain.
“... Now that’s some glucose I needed. Thought my brain’s gonna explode.”
Somewhat relieved from the headache, he got up and sat on the sofa where the leader sat.
“Now-”
On the table nearby, he found a paper and pen and wrote down the important thing he thought were important from the memories.
After writing over 10 pages, Mrit then put the pen down and looked at the things he wrote.
“This will be helpful. From what I got to now know, there is this entire continent like that of Pangea from my world.”
He looked at the map he drew from the memories of the guild leader, which had a single large continent drawn.
“In the east, there is the holy kingdom, and in the west, there is the empire. The south, which is known for the worst condition for humans, is inhabited by the dragons.”
Slowly looking at every part he drew, he then looked at the top part of the continent.
“And on the north, there is this world tree of the fantasy novels, with major species beings elves, dwarves, spirits living there. There is this Elven kingdom built around the world tree and the ruler is an elf.”
“This forest is at the border of the Elven kingdom. Because of Totopa, they do not come here, so that’s good for me, but...”
After looking at the map and reading some more points, Mrit folded the pages and stored them inside the ring and thought to himself.
“... I have to decide my next destination, but before that-”
He looked at the comfy sofa and then around.
“Shall we have some rest?”
***
Moving up to the second floor of the building, Mrit found a bathroom that was equipped with a shower and had soap and shampoo, too.
“OHH!! This is bliss. Who would have thought that this world had a shower? Ahhh... Let’s now thoroughly clean ourselves.”
Throwing away his clothes, Mrit entered the shower with Totopa and showered.
Rubbing soap everywhere and cleaning away the blood on him, Mrit then washed Totopa, who was also covered in blood.
“Aiiee... come here, you fluff ball. Let me clean you.”
And so, after a thorough shower, Mrit and Totopa came out all clean and gleaming and entered the bedroom.
“Woahh!! Would you look at that bed?”
In the center, there was a huge bed, probably used by the guild master, along with a lamp and some other things at the side.
Mrit, letting his body free, jumped on the bed. Totopa too followed the same before crawling upon Mrit’s chest.
“Ahh... How I wished for a single bed after coming to this world!! This is heaven. Totopa, try to lie down on the bed, it’s soft.”
“Topa? Topa Topa!!”
Totopa denied and snuggled upon Mrit’s chest. For him, his most comfortable place is Mrit’s chest. Mrit gave up and looked at the ceiling as his eyes became heavy.
“Now, let’s sleep.”
So, Mrit with heavy eyelids closed his eyes as both, for the first time, had a pleasant sleep in a comfortable bed for the first time.

“Hmm...?!”
As the sunrays lay upon Mrit’s eyes, Mrit’s eyelids opened heavily while blocking the rays.
“*Yawn*... mmghh...”
Getting up and doing a brief stretch, Mrit placed Totopa, who was on his chest on the bed, and walked towards the window.
Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.
“Now let’s have some fresh ai... ughhh, blurghh!!”
He thought of inhaling some good, fresh air early in the morning, but what he smelled was a gruesome, rotting smell that would make one vomit immediately.
Looking down at the source of the disgusting smell, Mrit found the dumped corpses of the men that were killed last night piled up by the wall just beneath the window.
“Ugghh... these rotting bodies are giving this damn stench. Damn it Totopa, couldn’t you put them all somewhere far?”
The culprit Totopa who heard Mrit shouting opened his eye, purred, and looked at Mrit with a questioning gaze.
“Topa?”
“This little... Forget it. We were going to leave this forest in the first place.”
Shutting the window quickly, Mrit got refreshed and ate whatever he could find downstairs.
“Tch... I should have just thrown these bodies somewhere far. The stench here also is killing my nose.”
Somehow finishing his breakfast amid the rotting stench, Mrit got up and summoned another two skeletons using the bodies of the advisor and the guild master.
“Go and collect all the bodies in an open space.”
With his orders, the two skeletons collected the bodies in an open space.
“Now stand among those bodies. Totopa, you know what to do.”
“Topa!!”
Totopa, who knew what Mrit wanted, then came near the bodies as he slowly charged up the blast inside his mouth. The small ball of energy then left the mouth, engulfing the bodies and the skeletons both, burning them slowly.
Shortly after, the skeletons and the bodies became grey ash and slowly were carried by the wind.
“The cremation’s done. Now let’s look at the status window.”

“Straight up 14 levels, huh? Not bad.”
Observing his stats and level, Mrit looked impressed as the progress of his was going smoothly. Suddenly, something came up in his mind.
“Hey system, what will happen to the stat points if I invest my stats points of death one? Will it affect the stat points of sun’s one?”
Upon his call, the system of the sun appeared.
[I have no information regarding this, owner. You are the first case of the dual system to my knowledge, so it is difficult to give a proper answer to you.]
“*Sigh*… I understand. I guess I have to try it myself.”
Getting no answer from the system, Mrit then braced himself as he looked at the status window.
‘If my theory will turn out to be correct, then this would be too much of a cheat. I have the status points more than a new awakened, so if I invest this many points, then-’
Mrit would be able to stand against someone double his level and may be able to defeat them too.
“Let’s see if I am correct or not.”
With that, Mrit invested the stat points present in his sun system.
[Strength >>> +20
Vitality >>> + 15
Agility >>> +10
Defence >>> +20]
His whole body suddenly experienced a surge of energy. His muscles toned up and his face was brimming with youth as the aura of the sun covered his whole body.
But ignoring those, Mrit hurriedly looked at his status window, only to be shocked by what he saw.
“N-No way...”

“The status points of the death system were the same, but the stats match with the system of the sun? This is nuts!!”
The stat points of the sun system decreased, but the points of the death system were untouched.
“Even though I invested the points in the sun system, the stats in the system of death also increased? How can this be possible?”
As he was standing confused, the system of sun and death appeared.
[This might be because even though the two powers are opposite to each other, the vessel is only one. You containing both the powers resulted in them sharing your stats too.]
[Though I do not encourage you to even invest your stat points in something vile as the power of death, it might be beneficial for you in the near future to cautiously invest the points in both systems.]
[For one time I agree with this white paste. Owner, as of right now, you are totally weak. You are not even a percent of when you were at your peak. So even though it’s disgusting to say, I also suggest you invest the stat points carefully.]
Both the systems, for the first time since activated, agreed with each other.
Mrit now possesses something that no one in this world does. So, even though he has the freedom to invest points by his choice, he refrained from doing so.
“You both are right. This cheat can become a problem and a solution at the same time.”
If he hastily distribute his stat points, then his cover would blow away in an instant
“For now, I have to refrain from revealing my strength and identity to the world. If I were to hastily increase my stats, it will create more problems for me.”
Closing his status window, he decided.
“For now, let’s keep this as a trump card.”
